Re: How do I extract crypto from my wallet

You obviously want to sell your crypto if I understood correctly, and to do that one of the most common options is to create an account at one of the famous crypto exchanges. After you send the crypto to the exchange, and sell it for fiat - you have the opportunity to make a transaction of these funds to your bank account.

Since I see you mention HMRC, it means that you are from the UK, so there is a possibility that you need to pay capital gains tax (if it exists), which will be better explained to you by someone from there.

For someone who has crypto, it's a little weird that you're not even familiar with the basics - if it's no secret how you came into possession of those cryptocurrencies?

This was inherited them after my uncle passed away. (i have made several posts about this already)

So in order to extract from the wallet I need to sell the coins even though there is a large value on it? I cant just withdrawn it into a bank account? Seems very unusual and rather complicated.

How do I extract crypto from my wallet

Hi all,

I currently have a sum of money sitting in a wallet. Can I simply extract the value in one go and place it into my bank account? Or is there a protocal to follow?

Do I need to declare this with HMRC as all I want to do is place it into my bank account.

Many thanks,

HI again,

I can't thank you enough for all your help again.  This has been an interesting journey so far and ive learned so many things i never knew before.  I have read your comments religiously and tried everything to the best of my ability but i realize something is still not working - i'm not too sure if it ever will, being honest. I broke the secret key apart last night - making sure that the letters can not been mis read or mistaken but i'm confidant its ok and clear.   This has become a personal quest i want to beat regardless of any value at the end at all.  It's not about that.  I want to continue it.

Can i personally ask a few questions though? What is there was no Secret key?  What if i didn't have that piece of paper with those details at all? Would this have been impossible then?

I watched loads off You Tube videos on back up codes.  Loads of them!!  Can i try to to access those codes?  Would they aid me? If so, would that generate a new secret key?

Thank you for all your help. I know i wouldn't have got this far with out you.

I did what you advised and both devices showed 6 different numbers. So there has to be an issue with the 16 digit secret key.

The 6 digit codes were different from each device. Both in synch. I'm just not sure what to do now.
Did you compare the generated codes on both devices at the same time? The generated codes are temporary and change every 30 seconds or so. If you get different codes then one or both your devices are out of sync (assuming you you imported the correct secret key).
Since those codes are temporary, you have to enter the generated code on bittrex, or whatever service you want to access, before it expires or it will become invalid.

I am referring to your 16 character, alphanumeric, 2FA back up codes. If they are incorrect, then your only option is to contact the exchange and explain the situation. If they are correct, but you are somehow importing them incorrectly or are out of sync and are generating the wrong 6 digit 2FA codes, then importing them with different software on a different device or asking someone else you trust to import them, and seeing if the 6 digit codes they generate match the 6 digit codes you generate, will reveal if you are doing something incorrect.

Hey!

I did what you advised and both devices showed 6 different numbers. So there has to be an issue with the 16 digit secret key.

Does the 16 digit key need to be in capitals or lowercase?

Thanks again.

Hi again. Thank you so much to everyone for entertaining this again. I really appreciate it.  You have no idea how much.  I have pulled out the codes and went through the characters to confirm they are clear and correct. They are clear as day. The title he used above the key was underlined Bitrexx Secret Key. It is very frustrating.

When I go to input the 6 digit code generated from the Google Authenticator once I enter the email address and password I keep getting the following message:

"The two-factor authentication code you specified is incorrect. Please check the clock on your authenticator device to verify that it is in sync."

I then sync the time and everything looks fine, yet I still keep getting the same message each time I try to use the codes generated by the authenticator.

Thank you to everyone for their support.

Hi again, Thank you for getting back to me.

At the moment in my possession i have Bittrex and Coinbase secret codes. I also have to log in details to get into these websites but the main issue is the Goggle Authenticator. I just cant get in. Iideally i would like to transfer the 2fa details to me and my mobile phone.

The secret code for Bittrex is 16 characters (alphanumeric)
Coinbase is 16 characters (letters and numbers)

Hi everyone

You might remember i was asking for help and guidance in regs to my uncles crypto that i was left after he passed away.  After months of learning, researching and reading about crypto i am still no further forward at all and i am close to just calling it a day.  This 2fa has become the bain of my life.  I have the saved key and have absolutely no idea what to do  with.  However, i have seen that one is allowed to have more than one 2fa attached to an account.  Can i attach fresh 2fa (i.e Last Pass Authenticator?) and enter the private key that way?

Many thanks

Hi everyone,

I'm having problems with a 2FA. I have been left cryptocurrency after my uncle passed away recently but i have no access to his original phone for his account. I do have all relating seeds and keys that were clearly labeled etc. Is this enough to work with to gain entry into his accounts and continue? I believe i could delete the existing 2FA and add another through to a new phone i could now assess? Is tis true?

just to be honest with me  Grin is this your account or your uncle account  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

2FA is little bit tricky i have lost my 2FA tho usually need KYC first hodling ID and proof address

This is not my account.  its my uncles account.  We spoke of this for months before he died of cancer in Jan. He wanted me to carry it on.

I remember your case. You had created another thread about your uncle's investments, but I guess that it didn't help you.

As long as you have the keys/seeds you can access your uncle's funds. I'll talk about Bitcoin, because I'm not that familiar with other cryptocurrencies. If your Bitcoin seed phrase is 12 words long, then it'll probably use the standard BIP39. To access your bitcoins simply download electrum and import your seed like this:

You should then click “Next” and choose “Legacy”, but that may not be true. What exchange was the one your uncle bought his BTC?

Just some tips.
— Never share your seed phrases or any passwords with anyone,
— No, these newbies that will start sending you PMs shortly shouldn't be trusted.

Thank you for your reply. He had exchanges on Bittrex and Coinbase.

Thank you to everyone who has replied back to my post. The 2FA is the only problem I have right now and with the info you have given me i will try again to look into this.

If you have the relating seeds and keys, you don't need the 2fa for that.

you only need 2fa for the exchange but these relating seeds and keys are for the wallet which you can directly access. If you don't access your uncle's email and phone forget the exchanges he used. The funds he has on exchanges I guess can be left alone. You got lucky for having the keys.

Hi there.  Although i understand your suspicion i think the accusation is a little much. I don't mean to bother anyone here but looking for a few pointers.  i would happily leave all of this to have him back. i can confirm that indefinitely.

Still trying at this end.  One of the codes says Brittrex Secret Code with 16 letters. Im a little wary that these attempted logins looks a little weird.
