G1000 Powering 4x 280x and 2x 23cm fans with ease. GPUs @ 1080/1500. 2.95Mhs total.
The frame will be a closed case soon. Work in progress.

How are you powering 4 R9 280x cards with only a 1000W power supply? I can't even power 3 with 1000W, the rig crashes. I think they pull over 300W each, especially overclocked. Need to upgrade to a 1300W supply.

Easy. This is G1000. One of the best 1000W PSUs on the market. I can run 1200W power draw from the wall with no problems what so ever. This PSU can deliver solid 1000W to the cards plus additional for the rest of hardware.
I ran my cards @ 1080/1500; 1.12v for a week and this miner took constant 1200W from the wall.
Since cards ran little too hot in my warm room, i reduced the load a bit and now im running 1030/1500; 1.08v. Power draw from wall is now 1065W. This means that those 4x 280x draw about 900W from PSU, which is around 220W-225W each.

1065W and 2.85Mhs = 2.67Hs per Watt. Keep in mind that this is for whole PC. Cards efficency is around 225W and 715KHs = 3.17Hs per Watt. Not  bad eh?  Cheesy

Maybe I just got a lemon PSU. It buzzes too. Anyways I'm returning it and getting a 1300W EVGA PSU instead, maybe I can get 4 cards on it.

Nope, currently only GPUs can mine scrypt unless there's some FPGA/ASIC that I don't know about...

Oh that's one of those Cougar fans, I just bought 2 of them for my case since the stock ones died after 4 years of continuous use. They're really nice and quiet with the rubber mounts.

Looks like the fans are running at 85%+ speed. Mine are between 2500 and 2700 on the their own.

Pontiacg5 they're not locked (at least not the older version) but you can only lower the voltage in sapphire trixx. I have one of the older 6+8 pin and running 730 stable. I can up to 743 but it's not as stable there.

I would  be willing to take 2 of them off your hands since I can't find them anywhere in the greater Toronto area. Payment in BTC, LTC, or paypal as well.

Ah, I see. I have some 7950's I can undervolt straight out of Cgminer in linux, but the sapphires won't. I don't think those third party clocking apps work in linux though, but I think it would be possible to flash the bios after hex editing it.
For what I pay for power you are talking about saving less than a buck a day undervolting, and temps aren't exactly a problem. I probably won't mess with it for a while, but thanks for the tip!

Yea cgminer, gpu-z, afterburner, hwinfo, etc all won't show the undervolt as well, only Trixx can do it and show it. Not really sure why since the card is basically a 7970 but anyway.

should work good.... make sure they are out in the open,   or build an open air case

He'll need a new motherboard to support 4 GPUs.  Those bump in price.

To my knowledge, the linked motherboard can support 5 GPUs

How does that make sense when it only has 3 PCIe x16 slots? And you have 4 GPUs that take up 2 slots per GPU. It's just not gonna work.

Are you unaware of 16x to 1x risers? How do you think some people are running 6 GPU setups?

Yes 7950s would definitely be a better miner but that's not to say that 7850s are bad! Just that they're not as good. Tongue

I think the ram deal was on the Canadian Newegg only, and it looks like it JUST went out of stock, I bought mine on Sunday and it arrived today. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157262

Yup that will work just fine. Smiley That power supply is actually overkill but that gives you room to grow. I just bought the same motherboard and CPU. Installed all the components tonight, Windows is updating as I type this. I bought the motherboard from Newegg.ca and I got free 4 GB of RAM with it. Cheesy You don't need more than 4GB for litecoin if you're using CGMiner.

you were scammed
Lessaj, I hope you used an escrow service because something doesn't add up...  He told me he was in North Carolina and as far as I know North Carolina isn't one of Canada's 10 provinces.

Entirely possible. Live and learn I guess. Will certainly be more careful going forward. Luckily it wasn't a crazy amount of coins and since LTC just doubled in price I'm still doing ok. Smiley

[WTB] 2-3 Gigabyte or MSI 7950
by

Hi guys,

I'm looking to purchase 2 or 3 Gigabyte Windforce 3 or MSI Twin Frozr 7950s. I'm currently running 1 WF3 and 2 TF at 650-80 khash/s (LTC) and I find them both to be very strong and durable cards. I'd also be ok with a Sapphire card but I don't know too much about how they hold up compared to the Gigabyte or MSI cards. The WF3 card I have I've been running at 100% with a nice overclock for 6 months, the Twin Frozrs I've only been using for a couple weeks and I feel like they run hotter than the WF3 but have overclocked just as well and are still running cool enough on their own cooling that I'm not worried about them.

I can offer payment in LTC or Paypal, shipping to Toronto, Canada. Willing do $250 SHIPPED (or $250 LTC equivalent at current exchange) per card OBO.

Please send me a PM or post here, pictures are a plus!

Intensity 7 is pretty low. I've noticed on AMD platforms you can go all the way to 20 but on Intel platforms I start getting errors at like 13 so I was usually at 12.

Try upping the intensity?

Re: [WTS] 2 7950 Gigabyte Windforce 3GB - 1.5 Months Old Only - Shipping Worldwide
by

I didn't change my mind. I paid via paypal as requested, but they didn't like that paypal wasn't releasing funds due to their nonverified paypal account. Seller refunded instead of going through with the transaction when I refused to repay via personal 'send money' instead of invoice.

Also, odd that it is shipping from USA, because I was invoiced in CAD, and I live in the US.

Exact same thing happened to me.  This whole situation spooked me due to:

(1) The above situation - wanting a personal payment, instead of a safer invoice payment. Refunded payment to me after he was not able to get the funds immediately due to unverified PayPal account.
(2) Then he asked me to send to his 'wife's' PayPal account - but he sent me a disposable e-mail address.
(3) He and I were discussing payment details when he posted the ArcologyPrime sales messages above - he was not negotiating in good faith.  When I asked about the posts about the items being sold already - he told me "first person who pays me get them".  Not the type of person I want to do business with.
(4) His account is only a few days old.

I wonder if this is the same person that I was just dealing with from Kijiji, claiming that they were from London, Ontario? Exact same situation, except #3 and maybe #4. I sent an email this morning since I hadn't heard back about a tracking number and the email I was replying with generated an auto alert saying that the email didn't exist anymore. And neither did the paypal address they gave me, or their "wife's" email.

I got my money back from PayPal.
