Re: BitMarket.Eu has closed down

Hello everyone,

First of all I want to say we're terribly sorry that you had to wait so long us to come through. While unfortunately the BTC from the exchange were never fully recovered, over the years we finally did manage to secure (hopefully) enough funds to reimburse the users as was initially promised - using the account value from the day the exchange closed down.

We've already started emailing everyone who had accounts on the exchange to let them know about this, but this process will take some time, plus I've already got few emails bounce back because the accounts don't longer exist. If you had a account Bitmarket.eu account with a non-zero balance when it closed please reach out to us at bitmarketreimbursements@gmail.com with a cryptocurrency address where you'd like us to send your reimbursement. If you're using a different email address than the one registered on the exchange please also send the username you used along with the exact balance the account held.

It does not matter whether you've already partially received your refunds (most people who we managed to get in contact before received up to 40% of their refunds already), please consider that an interest over all those years we failed to repay you.

There is no catch to this, we just want to finally set the matters straight and return the money to our users who trusted us with their funds, the trust we ultimately betrayed. Everyone please accept our apologies that this took so long.

Just a quick announcement:

- Current status of payouts for most of users (basically everyone that contacted me with their payout addresses): 50%
- Payouts for May were suspended because unfortunately I couldn't gather enough funds to cover all users. Next payout will be sent in June.
- Currently Bitmarket.eu site is down due to being DDoS'ed (who would want to DDoS a dead exchange is beyond me). I'm working to restore the service as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It came from a multisig address. There are still wallets that don't handle them properly. Maybe you use an outdated version?

I am still processing this round of payouts (I had a brief pause due to the holiday period) as you can see on the blockchain, hence no update on the site yet. Your refund should arrive today.

Edit: Just posted an update on the site.

Well, that's what you get when tax laws and everything are involved. Anyways, I've received the money and will commence to process the payouts today/tomorrow.

Update: Processing payouts right now.

Payment was sent to me, but I'm still waiting for it. Since its weekend banks don't work, it will probably reach me this tuesday.

As soon as next week, though I cannot promise anything for sure because I'm still uncertain when exactly I receive next batch of funds. I'll post an update as soon as this happens.

Re: Better way to reduce transaction fee

Not sure if you are aware that fees will be 1/10th of what they are now as of version 0.9.

Is there an ETA for version 0.9 or will it release 'when it's done'?

Bitcoin 0.9.0rc2 is available for testing so I guess it won't take long anymore.
Perhaps a final version in 2 weeks?

Yes yes Smiley I am already testing it! Works fine @ win7 64bit

there are some problems for Debian 7 user (1 bug was reported)

Actually, only the minimum tx RELAY fee will be reduced to 0.00001. Which means that network nodes will accept transactions with such low fee and relay them further. There is a separate setting for fee for adding tx to the block by a miner. That second fee will be unchanged, so effectively the fee remains unchanged.

Yes, actually you could export your private key for that wallet, import it into bitcoind or another web wallet with that function, and you will be able to spend these funds.

Edit: Their response is just a copy-paste. They didn't even bothered to check that the transaction does NOT appear elsewhere on the Bitcoin network, so they DO have control over it.

No, don't worry. The money is not lost. The transaction is not confirmed, so basically it is not "executed" -- and the money is still where it was initially.

That is correct, even though blockchain.info misleads you by showing the transaction as "unconfirmed" (due to the fact that they authored the transaction, so they've included it into their memory pool) it doesn't exist anywhere else in the Bitcoin network. You can check that by using the alternative Block Explorer:

http://blockexplorer.com/tx/033480dc55e79381f69dbf9097d3e9d2a13194ea94b5b93a2cebc52027d58dae

So as tholenst said, just go to blockchain.info support and they will be able to resolve this. It's also a bug on their side that they allow sending such small outputs from their UI, so be sure to tell them that as well so nobody else encounters this issue.

I see that some people (not talking about actual Bitmarket.eu users) have too much time on their hands, it's kind of sad.
What is sad is that you played with people's money on a Stock Market, lost it and expect that nobody cares.

You just proved my point. No money lost, loudest of them all. Don't you really have anything better to do than posting insults here?

I don't expect that nobody cares about what happened. If I did I would be long gone and not send a bit cent to anyone. Instead, I'm still here, working hard for money that I will not receive but instead return to those who suffered from my actions. How's that for lack of humility?

Anyway, this is my final post on this matter because I have more important matters like, well, getting the money for refunds, you know.

Note that one of your outputs is 1 satoshi (0.00000001). This is generally considered as an "dust output", and transactions containing those sometimes are not ever relayed through the network. Most miners won't include them in the blocks as well. In future, try to avoid creating these.

Source: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/10986/what-is-meant-by-bitcoin-dust
It was included in main Bitcoin client here: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/2577

Bitcoind will periodically try to submit pending transactions from its memory pool to the network. However if you shut it down, I believe the memory pool gets wiped out, so then you have to send it again manually.

I see that some people (not talking about actual Bitmarket.eu users) have too much time on their hands, it's kind of sad.

Anyway, next round of payouts was sent. It's another 10% batch, which means 40% of the debt should be now refunded for most users. Since Mt. Gox is dead, I used the next biggest EUR exchange for valuation, which is Kraken. The valuation for sending BTC payments as of today is 420 EUR per BTC.

Funds were sent from the address: 3B74hHgrcU5jpUnHEMjoLLTxncCgUU2uCB. A total amount of 2940 3090 3480 EUR was refunded in this batch.

Again, if there is anyone I missed in this batch, please contact me via private message.

I'm sorry that it took so long. It was due some legal implications, both with setting up my legal entity in Poland (which is now fully operational as of 20th December 2013) and getting funds from Bitalo (who needed to go through some legal hoops before they could send be another payment). Also, I didn't respond here because I had virtually nothing more to add on top of what was already said, and I was tired answering the same people over and over again. I committed that I will refund everyone, and this will be done, even if with some delays.

Finally, here's a rough plan how the rest of refunds will proceed:
- starting from march, I will try to send 10% refunds every month
- this means that refunds should be complete before the end of october 2014
- I will always post an update here an on the site before end of each month, even if there's nothing to add, just to reassure everyone that I'm still here

In other news, Bitalo.com, the new Bitcoin exchange and secure wallet service is now in its first month of being fully operational. I invite you to check out the service, especially the introductory video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcYHOZeb6LA

See you next month!

Another round of 10% payouts was sent. The evaluation for BTC payouts was 150 EUR/BTC, which is today's lowest rate (lower is better, because you get more coins). If I missed anybody please PM me, as it's the quickest way to reach me.

Ok. And please review the exchange rate that you have used this time. The 108 EUR must have been the MtGox rate at this time, which is totally unrealistic. You should user the bitstamp exchange rate, I guess.

As far as I know Gox processes EUR withdrawals/deposits, only USD are held. And Bitstamp doesn't handle EUR, which is the currency I'm using in accounting. I'm open for any realistic proposals though, but there are not that many other major EUR exchanges out there now.

@Galaxy07: I'm still processing this part of payouts. I believe yours was processed today. This is another 10% payout which, along with previous payout, should total 20% of your account balance value.
