Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear?
by

on 12/04/2016, 11:22:42 UTC
In theory it could make central banks dissapear. I think in the future regular fiat cash will eventually be replaced by digital cash. There's just too many advantages. I watched a documentary about counterfeit us bills the other day and there's billions of it being made and flooded into the market. The bills are so good that it's hard to tell them apart. Bitcoin solves this instantly. Bitcoin also solves the issue of banks being able to print it as they like which as we know devalues the currency whereas the opposite is true of bitcoin.

Re: paypal or bitcoin?

Two entirely different services/concepts. I'm sure were all bitcoin fans here but something tells me you would rather use paypal for purchases on ebay to avoid being scammed and I'm also sure many of us would prefer to use bitcoin when we want to be fairly anon or make purchases on the darknet etc. Both services have pros and cons and are better/worse in certain circumstances but bitcoin is certainly an alt option outside of the mainstream but at the moment paypal ic accepted on pretty much most online retailers where bitcoin is the opposite.

Good. I think the governments who want backdoors built and more powers to survail are just shooting themselves in the foot. The more they try to encroach on our rights the more people become aware encryption and how they need to step up their privacy as their governments are constantly trying to spy on them.

Re: Pro gun mom got shot by her 4 years old son
by

on 14/03/2016, 14:23:48 UTC
Just to point out, this is completely the mother's fault for not properly securing the firearm, not whether or not was a pro-gun mom. The fact that she was a pro-gun mom just makes it another excuse to say, "this is exactly why guns shouldn't be legal" counterarguement.

I think it's a good example of why not every idiot should be able to own one and why there needs to be more restrictions in place.

Well, Tecshare would maybe try to argue shotguns have other purpose than to kill someone xD

The NUMBER ONE PURPOSE OF A GUN IS SELF DEFENSE.

Well that's certainly what they should be used for but does anyone have any stats or the percentage that guns are actually used efficiently in self defense compared to incidents like this and all the others that happen?

Re: One question nobody is asking...
by

That's what I thought. Everyone is going to spot read what I wrote and simplify it. Read the last part. My argument is NOT about the internet service alone.

Let me spell it out...

Getting and using the internet is just the first step in a several year long process. Those that had AOL dial up in 1995, started using online banking in 2000. If they didn't get internet access until 2000, then they didn't start online banking until 2005. Do I need to continue?

The internet access was only one part of the delay.

Technology moves and gets adopted much faster these days and continues to grow. Just look at the technology in mobile phones and TVs and how we've gone from these basic devices with one function to having powerful computers in them. Most of the concerns people have are similar to what people said about debit cards and mobile phones etc etc. Bitcoin probably wont work in 100% of the world but neither do phones and debit cards but the technology to spread internet and mobile phone networks worlwide is already there and companies are working on remote parts of the world in Africa etc. I think I read they might even get some sort of internet for free eventually (though it will come with ads most likely).

Re: Bitcoin without Altcoin ?
by

on 29/02/2016, 17:21:57 UTC
I just wanted to get your opinions on this one , what do you think Bitcoin would be if there was no Alternative coins such Litecoin & Dogecoin and the others ...
I mean it would be better with or without them Bitcoin would have no value at all ?

Alt coins are irrelevant to me but they're good in as much that they get newbies involved who feel they missed the boat on bitcoin. Most usually make their way over to bitcoin at some point when they realize the pointlessness and waste of time they are. People trading their alts for bitcoin also helps our economy. I think most will die off when people realize that ultimately you can't really buy anything with them.

Re: Earning a living with bitcoin?
by

on 15/02/2016, 16:35:46 UTC
You could probably earn a living on this forum alone if you had a lot of accounts and joined signature campaigns. If you had skills you could even make a little bit from offering them in the services section. I think mining is pretty much dead now for most people though. It's a shame that anyone can't just join in with simple equipment. I think bitcoin would be more appealing to the average person if they could easily earn them with their computers or a small investment.

Earning a living with bitcoin is sounds good. I want to earn that much enough bitcoins in future. Right now I am earning a little amount of btc and it helps me to maintain somethings like I pay my Internet bill from my bitcoin earnings Wink

it is also what I do to pay my Internet bill from my bitcoin earnings . bitcoin really helped my life in every way Smiley

How do you pay your bills with it?

Re: Why do Bitcoin Wallet has an age limit? (18yrs. old ++)
by

on 15/02/2016, 16:29:24 UTC
Since bitcoin is just a money why does bitcoin wallet sites has an age limit of 18 years old before creating one?? Does having a money has an age limit?? And since online sites can't even detect people who's 18 below , why do they even bothered it ??

What wallets say you have to be 18? Are you talking about exchanges? It's understandable you have to be 18 to use them as pretty much most places you have to be an adult to use such services dealing with the exchange of money. Trading could even be seen as gambling but either way it's definitely not something kids should be doing. Regardless you can still use many wallets like the main bitcoin one, electrum or blockchain.info etc without any problems so look at alternatives.

Re: Everyone is hyping about bitcoin price in 2016

This concerns me about what will happen to bitcoin price after 2016 ? Will it crash after the block halving ? Is there any upcoming incident in 2017-18 that may push the price up again ?

I don`t think it will crash after the halving! No way! If the halving decreases the quantity of coins generated by the miners, then the coins become more scarce in the market, so the price increases. That`s the law of the market, my friend.

I too do not think for any chances for prices to fall down after halving, even there would be a heavy sell off, the halving consequence will get more buyers to match that selling pressures.

Of course there is. Read my above post. The halving will only matter as long as demand outstrips supply so there needs to be a big demand for btc. Once the hype and excitement has died off people will just go back to normal so there needs to be a reason why people are going to be buying more coins or the price will likely fall. Maybe we will get a big company or two accepting coins by then but I doubt it but I do know there's going to be a lot of people dumping their coins if we get a big increase.

How do you know? That's what usually happens after a big price increase. The hype is going to be massive for the halving so people will buy bitcoins en masse expecting the price to go up and it very likely will just because of that but many people will also dump their coins looking to cash out as quickly as possible and of course this will send the price crashing back down. I think there's a lot of people who are still holding from buying in at 1k and those people will probably all dump if it goes any where near that again so I think we could be in for a turbulent time. Hopefully it doesn't crash down too far and remains at a decent price after the halving. I guess we can only wait and see.

Re: Investing in Ponzi's
by

Hey!

Is investing in NEW ponzis a OK thing to do? Obviously talking about the doubling sites that have just gone up. They should pay back the early investors back, right?

Obviously gambling, but is this a ok thing to do? what are the risks?

Thanks,

Why take the risk? Don't be greedy. All will scam at some point when they collapse but many are just scams from the getgo and will take whatever they can get. You're better off either just holding coins or trading and buying low and selling high but I'd avoid ponzis or you'll likely learn the hard way.

Re: How do I know what info to trust?
by

on 05/01/2016, 09:32:47 UTC
I unfortunately just recently started looking into BTC and ALT coins and while there is a ton of information here it is hard for me to discern good info from bad.  It seems like a lot of the things people post are either ads or sarcastic comments to steer people away.  Any tips on who to trust?

Trust no one without good reason to. How do you normally work out how to trust in real life? You can only judge people for yourself but look at their post history and see how helpful they have been in the past. You can also look at a users rank or trust. Two users I like are dannyhamilton and shorena as they are very helpful and knowledgeable but I suppose it depends on what you need help with as there are many other great users here.

Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin?
by
M83
on 21/12/2015, 17:31:48 UTC
Personally I think the biggest thing stopping most people is that the Average Joe has no real need for bitcoin at the moment. Maybe it it gains traction at some point in the future and is accepted worldwide people would use it as a universal currency and wopuld save people time and money by not having to convert cash into local money etc.

the walking dead and supernatural

I have not seen to many people mention the Walking Dead.  That series is great!!!  We knew that Glen was not dead, they cut away from him to quickly!!  Now what the hell are they going to do?

Really? This thread seems to be just people mentioning that and Breaking bad, Mr Robot and Game of Thrones over and over again  Grin. I think people should recommend lesser know stuff as everyone knows about most of the stuff that gets posted in here already.

Re: Storing money on Smartphone is far more secure than desktop or laptop
by
M83
on 23/11/2015, 15:25:22 UTC
It's most likely the opposite. People have no idea how to keep their desktops/laptops secure and it is much worse then it comes to the mobile area where apps can have access to almost everything. Another problems would be apps that carry hard to remove exploits (tends to happen in android). It is not possible for a smartphone to be safer than a Linux machine solely dedicated for a wallet, running behind a hardware firewall.

I wouldn't say the opposite but the most important information here is that nothing is really safe if you don't know what you're doing. Android or apple phones may be safer than a windows PC in most instances but you could still download a dodgy app or get some virus from clicking a dodgy link. People could also lose their phones and if they haven't got a back up then they're screwed either way. My advice is to just know what you're doing and protect yourself and back up as much as possible in case something goes wrong.

Re: Russian Passenger Plane and it's Bomb
by
M83
on 08/11/2015, 19:57:41 UTC
Seems like the Russians are also accepting the fact that there was a bomb on the flight.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/confusion-reigns-at-egyptian-airport-amid-british-evacuation/2015/11/06/6cb177c0-840c-11e5-8bd2-680fff868306_story.html

Egypt is in deep shit now. After the Giza shooting and the massacre of the Mexican tourists, this incident was the last straw. The Egyptian tourist industry is never going to recover from this.

Have they or anyone else accusing the bombing on terrorism actually produced any evidence yet? Call me a conspiracy theorist but I have yet to see anything but hearsay from the powers that be. Not saying it wasn't a bomb either but that would be more convenient for them.

Re: cash remains the only option if there's an emergency
by
M83
on 27/10/2015, 10:21:23 UTC
YES!!!

This is the biggest weakness with using Bitcoin - if the electricity goes out or you're unable to reach the blockchain, your funds are not accessible (they might as well be worth nothing).

But, Bitcoin was never designed to be a doomsday currency. It was meant to be a more fair, more efficient way to conduct current financial transactions.

This is the beauty of it, it won't need to replace fiat (nor should it) because fiat will always be necessary in emergency situations. This will help prevent the rulers of fiat currencies from meddling with Bitcoin.

If you have battery for your smart phone and there is wifi or 4G phone service, then it might not be a big problem.

If we ever have a doomsday fiat money will probably become worthless too and will likely revert back to a barter/trade system again.

Re: If bitcoin ever goes mainstream
by
M83
on 12/10/2015, 11:19:58 UTC
Bitcoin will go mainstream surely as the change has already begun. We can not just see the speed of change it is much more faster than we imagine. It is inevitable now as lot of the water has flown under the bridges.Governments as well as bankers are failed to stop Bitcoin in last couple of years.A totally new era of financial freedom and privacy is to come soon.

I don't think there's anything guaranteeing mass mainstream adoption. Sure it might and it it does go there it will take several years but part of me just thinks most of the general public just has no need or desire to use bitcoin so the mainstream will largely avoid it. I thiunk it will still have its niche uses online and in some industries but will remain relatively underground still. I hope to be wrong though.
