Back before hardware wallets or Electrum or MyEtherWallet I just did it the old fashioned way and used a paper wallet. Went to that bitcoinaddress website, saved it offline, doubled checked the hash on the offline computer. Then I created about a hundred different addresses, made each private key encrypted with a password that would take millions of years to crack. Bought a $20 printer at Walmart, printed out a few copies, then destroyed that printer office space style.

Then would send everything to one address, and when I need to spend it I would send to wherever I need to send it and the change would go to the new address. It was very time consuming however I didnt mind because I knew it wasn't possible to get hacked in any shape or form that way.

Years later I realised that I didn't need to keep destorying $20 printers when the private key was encrypted anyways. But the printer was cheap. They were like $10 each plus a $10 environment fee.

Those were the good old days...
a keylogger is the biggest fear to the software wallets if the trezor solves this by forcing an manual click of a button to withdraw or speend funds on metamask that would be good but the ledger hardware wallet hack has soured me on these

It takes a while for a hardware wallet to arrive, plus you have the issue where your private information can be stored on a database that gets hacked later like with Ledger.

Your best bet is to download Electrum. Find an old laptop you never use. Rip out the Bluetooth and Wifi module from it. Install Electrum on both your online and offline computer. Use the old laptop to sign your transaction. The online computer will only be a watching only address.

If you don't have BTC and only ETH, then you can do the exact same thing with MyEtherWallet. Just download it and run it offline and use the "Offline Helper" tool to create offline transctions. You can do this on ETH and any of the tokens. This way your crypto will never get stolen.

Ordered Trezor at the start of January and got it last week, there is some delay and post isnt working very well now. Just my experience.
I have been using BRD (Iphone) for moving btc, i feel its quite safe but risk is always there.

hardware wallets have an additonal attack surface thier software on top of intergration with metamask etc for defi
i just use the software wallet and never store my private key digitally

Good call here. I added a lot of gear in the July to October timeline.

It's amazing, back there eth was just 200 usd, now is 1700 usd, bull market is really crazy, bear market is as crazy, soon everything will crash hard again just like in 2018. So my advice is to sell eth and dont look back, yeah it could keep increasing in price but for now it has a very high chance to crash to 200 usd again and then the bear market will start again. Do not assume eth or cryptcoins will go up forever or it will stay at the current price, crypto market has cycles and the bear cycle is almost upon us. Do not end up holding the bag, in 2018, coins crashed 95% or 20 times its all time high price.
lol this isn’t even close to 2017 , we were close to 1 till market cap bCk then this more of a recovery after three years of bear market in crypto.  when eth doubles its ath or maybe even triples it then we will be in full time bull market mode

But for miners profits on eth are reaching what they were in 2017

The new gear uses less power.
and Eth fees are stupid high .

over 90 %

I get 190.22% at via btc

so an Eth coin for me is like 1.9022 x 1639 =3117

hashrate is 369 th it was 156 in  dec 2017

coins were 1300 in 2017

2017.  2021
1300.  1639.   price
156.     369.    hash
 3.5        2.     watts per mh

125%.  192%  via btc payout

3.3.     3.1.    block size is almost equal due to fees

So we are getting closer to 2017

my lone nvidia 3070  makes over 6.60 a day
my lone nvidia 3060 makes over 6.60 a day
my 3 nvidia 3080 make over 29.00 a day
my lone 3090 makes over  12.25 a day

6 cards earn more than 54 a day
those are crazy numbers for six cards what?! is that after power?

Alt coin mining is whaling.

Eth has been smoking firecracker hot.
What i meant to say is small time mining or mid to small farms are still on borrowed time.  Once eth goes pos and or these huge chinese farms get thier 30xxx orders filled out the mining profits will be back in the toilet and mining will be dead again so from the perspective of going forward long term its really going into the nice hobby zone , just wait on it

the problem with defi projects is the gas fee. I wait till the early mornings of weekends to do any transactions and even so, interacting with uniswap costs about $10-$15. Unless you are a whale or you don't mind locking your money up for a while, the defi space isn't suitable.

If you are not a whale, or have a modest mining operation, you can consider being a lp at binance. limited pairs, lower apy but no fees

Yeah you can’t make a ton on eth network unless youre a whale but i got into pancakeswap early at .30 now its $1
on bcs network fees are negligible, eth network is not the only network with defi projects

i have some lp positions in pancakeswap, but it is too reliant on BNB - it needs to attract more ETH volume in there. Also it needs to change the name! How is it possible for anyone to take it seriously?
everyone is hung up on the name lol , meanwhile its making lots of ppl rich

shocking to me people trade and mine so seriously when there are way easier ways to make money

With normal price changes one can make 5% a day trading BTC or ETH. Shock me how much can be earned daily with yield farming.

hmm i started yeild farming with around 30k in october and ive grown it to around 100k ish , and thats with taking profit along the way .  its way more fire and forget than trading.  Who wants to be glued to a computer screen every day even mining is less stressful than chasing daily 5 percent gains when in one day a 20 percent drop can liqudate you. People who get rug pulled are the same dolts that would 100x leverage 1 eth lol.  Ivw had tokens drop massively in value but since im farming daily those drops get recovered faily quickly due to compounding apy.

don’t jump on every 5000% apy project withoute doing research joining telegram understanding the product , inflation, burn rate and use case and most of all im rarely and early adopter in don’t fomo into a new project unless i fully understand it as well as see whose backing the team what other projects they are partners with etc.

ive been earning 300 to 500 usd a day for 3 months now on various projects and all i have to do is use a yeild aggregator and the compound daily earnings for you.

Any miner who is at least not leveraging his mining earnings into defi projects is really missing the boat.

at worst if you are scared you cant lp eth/dai pairs or btc/eth for lp rewards or stake say eth for a apy of say 50% yearly.   Basically free money lol

trading on margin is only for those who know what they are doing yeild farming is way better and safer than both mining and trading , its amazing how many stick in the muds are on this forum, the whole deal with crypto is to reinvent existing systems and learn other ways to make money and leverage assets .

Found this site today.  I only have 500mh but I don't support eip-1559

https://stopeip1559.org/

Interesting to see what pools have come out in support of the miners that earn them revenue.  Can't help but notice that bitmain pools are in favor of eip-1559.....

I'm not sure when miner's became the enemy of crypto but I don't think the new crop of enthusiasts understands what miners do and have done for ETH.

I am in favor of miners rejecting any hard fork that includes eip-1559 even if it creates 2 chains.

I am so glad Ethermine is opposing it, I've been with them for a long time. Used Hiveon before that which is also cool to see them on left side.
Thank you for the link.

As a small farm miner, I hope this EIP doesn't go through.
i left ethermine when they started stealing uncles, back in the day when they were good when you got you block payment if there was a uncle it went right to you too.

could you elaborate why?

Siacoin, dgb, eos, decred, and many other coins that in 2018 had significant increase in price and hype, we don't hear anything about them today and they did not have any significant rise so far and a lot of them are dead, 97% of altcoins are pump and dump.
lol doged the question you have no clue , no one can predict what coin gains what will flop

those coins failed to provide a valid usecase, its not the quantity of tokens its the fact of no one uses them
for all those dead ones you have compounds, chainlinks, pancakes, bnbs etc that have uses and those hold value

top 30 coins is way way over simplistic, sia fucked themselvs by adding thier own asics and eveb allowing asics for small caps like those , even grin and other mwc tokens never provided an easy  way to access thier networks or supported asics in some way and got dumped to hell.  samw with that shit coin kadena too , all thesw tokwns you mentioned had stupid teams.  Etherum does too but they just happened to be first of the smart contracts capable and web3 tokens and als massive funding behind it

It is pretty clear by now that Ethereum actually is a threat to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

The egalitarian mining/validation of blocks is one of the last "thorn in their eye".
Their whole philosophy stinks, you can tell by the changes they make which is ever so slightly more against people.

To put it in religious terms and I'm not religious  Wink
"Bitcoin is the saviour and ethereum the antichrist/deceiver".

PS: Of course im mining eth as hard as I can since its inception  Tongue
i cant even argue with this , they claim they want decentralization but they refused to fork asics (centralized)
they are moving to pos (centralized ownership by large holders ... like dev) now this eip 1559 to completely end casual mining for minimal profit afer 2 years of negative mining profits shows where this is going.  Unfortunately this seems to be where all blockchains are going now, why pay miners anything when you can just go pos and keep all the profits in your own pocket

Re: 3060 12Gb Announcement
by
Marvell2
on 14/01/2021, 17:28:55 UTC
Why do you say 52mh/s max?
The GPU memory speed is faster on the 3060 12gb card.
and 2 x 3060TI does not equal to 1 x 3080...

10% faster memory, 25% slower bus, I said the 2 x 3060 12gb = 1 x 3080 10gb, not the 3060ti 8gb model. Also we are not sure if this is an already overclocked memory version, so maybe the memory overclock is already in by default.

Also 1 x 3080 = 100mhs, not good if more than this, i myself have 2 and pushing to 105 is not that good for 24/7 for a long period, better be safe than sorry. Also the 3060ti version I don't have any but i would have to see how safe is the memory for 24/7 to determine how max it can get. I would say 60 at moment. As soon as I get one I will test it. So 3060ti = 60mhs, 3080 = 100mhs, and 3060 = 52mhs is what I think.
lol this from the guy who has been preaching to others not to mine for years now , hillarious

I have a rig that loses a card every week or so and needs to be rebooted , why doe the miner keep mining even when watchdog fails with 1 card down

do i have to benchmark it to force it to reboot ?
Thanks for your question.
The exact behavior will depend on the mining software you are running. Some of them will stop mining if they consider a GPU to not be working.

What you can do from an Awesome Miner point of view is to configure a rule with a trigger called "Device Count". If you have the same number of GPU's in all mining rigs, you can specify to trigger when below a specific number.

In case the number of GPU's are different per miner - each miner can be configured with the expected number of devices in the Managed Miner Properties, Advanced section. The trigger can be configured to compare with the expected number of devices configured on the Managed Miner.

The rule action can be set to "Miner command" where you can select Reboot.
thanks for reply the rule won't work beace the card stays active but is mining at 0 , I'll look into the mining software option I can only use phoniex and I don't know the settings for that
thanks

I have the same issue for a long time and until now I can't find any solution yet.

It's fixed with latest Gminer. Thanks arielbit!

Oh it seems it's already fixed with gminer what driver you currently use?

Let me try gminer thanks.

Opppsss.... I tried today it seems the problem still the same with low hashrate...

What driver you currently use? Can you share your bat file I just want to try your settings?

drivers are 430.86, 451.67 and 460.89 all of these works

my .bat is very basic

Quote
miner.exe --algo ethash --server asia1.ethermine.org:4444 --user yourETHaddress.workername

you might be using 4gb system ram, make it at least 6gb .....this issue was already long ago too when it slowed my 1080ti, this might be your issue.

its not the ram i do have a 16 gig ram
