I keep seeing threads on why don't people ? The real question to me is Why would they ?
-The average consumer will go way out of their way to save money. Bitcoins cost more. -The average consumer will usually pay a little extra to have convenience. Bitcoin is less convenience and more hoops and complications.
I just cannot see any reason for the average consumer to use Bitcoins. Until average consumers start using Bitcoins they will just be an experiment and a small speculative bubble.
I have my personal reasons, I am interested Bitcoins them as a tech person, speculative investor and person that follows evolving treads and markets. I am just struggling to see any.. benefits for the average consumer at this stage.
I absolutely agree with you and also think that, now, there are no reasons for an average consumer to use bitcoin. Bitcoin is already a trend but still most people dont really use it. Probably things will change in some time as more shops, stores or any services will start accepting bitcoins.

Re: How are you hedging the upcoming Segwit2x fork?
So much FUD around the hardfork again. My personal view on this - dont fall into panic and keep calm. Overall, we got beyond the previous fork without serious consequences. I am not planning to sell out or something; will keep my btc as usual, hoping for new free coins.
No one knows what might be this time. As people here say - dont keep it in one place and it would better not be an exchange. There were many major platforms such as bitstamp or coinbase that didnt accept bch at the beginning. And even if they did eventually, the situation was absolutely uncertain before AUG1st.

Speaking about 1 or 2 years investment period I would definitely say Bitcoin. While, five years is a long term for the crypto industry, many things will change in five years, but I would still make it 70/30 in favour of Bitcoin.

You can make a lot of research, but you wont become a true expert without using it. So getting a wallet and buying some bitcoins or altcoins will also help you to better understand how it works.

If we speak of the near future, I dont see Bitcoin as a world currency either. I think that we will use different cryptocurrencies together with fiat. While the competition on the market will eventually show which of them is more convenient.

If Id have really a lot of money in btc, I would store it in a hardware wallet and keep it in a safe place together with a piece of paper where the recovery phrase is written. I think this is the safest way.
