No, this is not the start. the start happened a while ago (mostly about a month ago) where the first drop from top began. now you are just seeing that same process at a higher speed.
- at first the whales dump and the rest of the experienced traders follow by selling and getting out. at this time newbies become back holders.
- then more newbies come in and start buying thinking they got lucky to be able to buy "cheap" altcoins.
- then more dump happens and the second group also becomes bag holders.
- the final step before the doom is now. when another dump comes and all the two previous bag holders give up hope and start selling their bags contributing to an even bigger dump. some people call this panic sells! but in  case of altcoins i like to call it a late awakening.

I'm a newbie since may and this is so right...

I did already left the ship (break even).. First I went from altcoins to LTC and BTC but I sold this as well for USD... Do not have the balls to HODL..

IMO this going a lot further down and there will be a way better opportunity to buy in again then just holding.. Should not have listened to all those bag holders and sold the whole portfolio when I had the feeling a couple of weeks ago...

Oh well... It's been a good lesson...

I would also wait a bit longer if I was you... Almost every alt is doing a Titanic.. Most lost already 50 to 60 and more % from ATH.. I fear this is not the end yet Sad

I did not properly back up my password, I know stupid! I did wrote it down though at a piece of paper, but it seems I must have made a mistake in the password, can't even properly read my own writing.. I tried already several hundreds of combinations but I can't find the mistake.

Try to contact white hackers, I think they have a set of tools for brute force your password from set of letters which you have written on the paper: https://steemit.com/steemit/@noisy/we-just-hacked-11-accounts-on-steemit-1158-sbd-and-8250-steem-is-under-our-control-but-we-are-good-guys-so

You will not believe this but my account is on that list showing the memo key... I will try to contact those guys.. Thanks for the tip !

Re: Ripple wallet getting ripped on Coinpayments.net

It is always bad to see people losing money. Always try to keep as less money as you can on exchanges. Luckily I didnt have anymore funds there. Hopefully CoinPayments will refund everyone as bitfinex did. Is there any official announcement on bitcointalk by Coinpayments yet on how did this happen?

This isolated incident is the first of its kind on our platform and affected only ripple wallets which were not taking advantage of our long-term coin storage solution, the Vault. The people who exploited the glitch were not hackers, but other long term users of our service who made errors or chose not to report the discovered issue and ended up withdrawing other client’s XRP.

This is what they saying through mail...

Hi Steemers!

I hope someone can helps me here, it's going to be pretty difficult though Smiley

A couple of weeks ago a made an account on Steemit and transferred Steem to the account

The problem:

I can't log in to the account with my password, witch obviously also means I can't transfer funds or see the active private key (transfer funds as well)

I do can still log in with my private posting key. Really frustrating to see your funds but can't do anything with it...

I did not properly back up my password, I know stupid! I did wrote it down though at a piece of paper, but it seems I must have made a mistake in the password, can't even properly read my own writing.. I tried already several hundreds of combinations but I can't find the mistake.

I don't have a lot of hope anymore but still I don't give up..

I hope somebody can help me with this? Members of Steemit? Dev ?

Thanks !!!

Dear,

It is with deep regret we must inform you of an error we discovered in our Ripple service on June 5th, 2017 that allowed a few users to withdraw excessive XRP from hot wallet XRP accounts. Our records show that you are one of the users affected by this unfortunate activity. The issue was hard to detect because of the rarity of circumstances where it could happen. We have done a full review of our systems and added additional checks and protections to make sure similar issues don't occur in the future.

Their detailed personal information has been collected and they all have been contacted to return the funds immediately. We are in communication with some already and reclamation process has begun with the help of our lawyers. Early response indicates that honesty appears to be prevailing. Some of the funds have already been returned and through a series of escalating steps we will be making every effort to ensure the XRP is returned to its rightful owners. We will be working diligently with local and international authorities for the safe return all balances and will proceed with criminal prosecution of those who do not return the funds willingly.

Your patience is greatly appreciated as we work through this matter. Note that your balance has been updated to reflect your new balance. Our support staff will not be able to give any information regarding the situation or adjust your Ripple balance.

We would like to remind everyone that any coin stored for an extended period should always be Vaulted. This service is free and offers the highest level of protection for any funds kept online. Additionally, we will dedicate 1/4 of our revenue flowing directly to effected users until we restore all of the missing value in their accounts. All coins recovered will be evenly distributed among all accounts effected as those come in.

 Sincerely,
 Alex Alexandrov
 Chief Executive Officer
 CoinPayments Inc.

Other people who are a victim of this ?

I think and hope Coinpayments will/can fix this... Still have a lot of trust in the company...
