Re: Second wave of Covid-19 in Europe, Lockdown? Is this possible?
by

As a resident of The Netherlands I can say there's probably a grim winter ahead of us, and this is probably the case in most other European countries as well. There's a partial lockdown here currently; people still go to school and work, but cafes and restaurants are closed and remain so until at least december. Unemployment is rising, businesses drop like flies, and unrest is on the increase in society. With few places to go to and with wet and dark weather outside, the decline of mental health is certainly a concern. A total lockdown could follow in the coming weeks, especially if rate of infections doesn't go down quickly.

Is altijd goed meegenomen.

klein bedrag + 100% compounding + toewijding = grote resultaten.

Wow, Liquid really took a nosedive this year isn't it? You can scoop up hundreds of those tokens for only a few dozen bucks. I'll actually go ahead and transfer the majority of available crypto (which isn't much) into Liquid and see what 2019 brings.

Een maat vertelde me in 2011 over 'Bitcoin minen'.

Re: Is it right to kill a violent burglar?
by

on 07/04/2018, 15:10:25 UTC
In my country you will get in trouble with the police if you kill or injure a burglar.

It is crazy. You can't legally defend yourself. And if you do, maybe it is best NOT to call a police  Roll Eyes

I recently read about a case, where a burglar had come to a house, and slipped on the slippery pathway and injured himself. In that case the owner of the house had to pay the burglar for his injuries.
(There is a law, that requires house owners to keep roads non-slippery)

A country in Western Europe?

Here in the Netherlands one has the right to defend him or herself against intruders, albeit proportionally. Proportionally in this case means that you basically aren't allowed to kick an enemy when he or she is down and the use of firearms isn't allowed (possession of firearms are illegal for normal citizens as a whole btw). Deaths of burglars go unpunished in rare cases if it is proven that it happened in self-defence.

Personally I think it is right to fend off a violent intruder, even if it results in the death of said person. But as mentioned above, killing shouldn't be the main priority.

Re: What are your Trading process? Tips and anything?

1: personal strategy is to gradually buy into BTC or an 'established' altcoin although sharp peaks are avoided. A value going down yields the oppertunity to buy in more. I avoid using this strategy with random altcoins as the chances are high money is being thrown at a dead coin.

2: A short-term strategy I can think of is buying into a coin that's falling like a rock, as an 'upwards' correction usually follows. This is risky however and I personally never do this (anymore).

3: a thing I learned is that buying into rapidly rising coins (FOMO) isn't a smart thing to do to say the least. Therefore, I've switched to the method I've mentioned at point #1!

4: that depends on your capabilities and available time regarding trading. I would probably fail miserably myself at day-trading, though others could gain massive profits this way.

5: investment!

Yep, the mentioned tactic certainly is better than selling stuff in a fit of panic when the price goes down. Not advisable to do this with some random shitcoin as it could turn out to be a bottomless pit, but in the case of BTC it is actually a reasonable thing to do. I've implemented this tactic since a year or so and it beats the buy high sell low shenanigans for sure.

Yep, agreed with the reply above me that patience and 'sniping' significant oppertunities are crucial things when you're not a complete pro on the trading market. Tried day-trading myself when I was a total n00b and the results weren't satisfying to say the least. Watching the action largely from the sideline definitely is more effective in my case at least, though months can pass before a profitable move on the cryptomarket can be made.

Another clear example of why online exchanges should be avoided as much as possible. Somehow dodged the bullet myself multiple times in the last few years until I got sp00ked enough to withdraw all my funds from those exchanges. In the last year we've seen the disappearance of BTC-e.com, the Bittrex shenanigans with accounts being locked/disabled and now this with Binance. Might have forgotten a few more incidents.

I think 'we' need the confidence of the larger public for a new major bullrun to happen again. Average Joe rushed into the cryptomarket in the final months of 2017 as making large profits appeared very easy and almost automatic, but many were severely burned financially as the inevitable crash happened. Seriously, I've seen some folks timing those 'buy high sell low' moments extremely well. Anyways, it'll probably take some time for the masses to work up the courage again to invest (gamble?) into crypto and thus initiating the next bullrun.

Thanks for the heads-up! Received an e-mail myself yesterday supposedly from Binance and written in broken English. Something about a give-away by sending 0,03BTC to a certain adress and subsequently receiving the send amount tripled in return. Totally legit ofc ... Seems like the days that the majority of spam-mails consisted of stuff about viagra, male enhancements treatments and cat training are far behind us.

I kicked myself many times for not doing X or Y at a certain time on the cryptomarket. Yes, it's all hindsight and it is nigh impossible to call the bottoms and peaks on the cryptomarket, but still. Was planning to buy roughly 100 Ethereum in january 2016 but eventually noped out as I thought it wouldn't get traction on the market. Considered to buy $50 worth of XVG (Verge) in january 2017 but forgot about the thing after that ... until I saw its baffling surge in the final months of that year. I could have had the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of USD at this point and it bothered me somewhat for a while, but now my skin has grown thicker in that regard in the sense that I don't care that much about these facts anymore. And indeed, there are still probably oppertunities ahead to make a decent amount of profit on the market. Not selling your crypto seems to be the key!

If you then see that they are a lot of free merit / scam threads this really dumps your motivation in creating serious content in this forum - cause its simply unfair.

Now consider there is a newbie who affords lot of time in creating some nice content in order to rank up, not merited at all. What do you think the motivation of this guy is going? Do you think he is gonna try this again?

I personally think that merits should be viewed as a convenient byproduct of constructive activity on BCT instead of the main focus. That said, the implementation of a de-merit system would actually be pretty neat. It would reduce the verbal junk throughout BCT even further.

Re: How do you see bitcoins yourself?

on 16/02/2018, 19:12:16 UTC
As much as I like the concept of digital money, I have to agree with the people above me and currently regard BTC predominantely as a way to speculate and make profit. Yes, that's a crappy stance in the world of cryptocurrencies and it really doesn't help to make the cryptomarket more stable and thus more attractive to investors. I'm guilty as heck. But the utility of cryptocurrencies is still next to zero and I've gotta pay my bills / products / vacations in fiat money so I act accordingly. I must add that crypto has taught me a LOT about the dynamics of financial markets and can now sort of recognize some 'red flags' on the market.

However, I do hope we'll eventually see a transition from the current old financial infrastructure to a crypto-dominated one.

Re: Will Bitcoin still remain trapped in a bearish pattern?

I personally suspect BTC won't leave the current bearish phase for a while. At least 95% of the previous gigantic surge in value of BTC was caused by (noobish) speculators who bought in because the price shot up. These times are now over and the bulk of the new and often inexperienced cryptotraders are now scared away and won't return for a while.

Another round of Liquid token airdrops to WCT and MRT holders today.  I am not sure how many more rounds are left for the Liquid token airdrops but I am trying to get as many I as I can on Waves DEX.  I have a feeling these tokens will be worth a lot more than what they are now.

Yep, we're now looking at roughly 1.4 Waves per Liquid token and it even briefly peaked at 5 Waves per token recently. Sold off the biggest bunch of Liquid during that recent spike (and bought some back after that) but it indeed wouldn't hurt to keep some in case the value skyrockets.

A new ATH on the longer term is likely but this current bear-market isn't going away for a while. The last peak was at least 95% speculation; completely average people without any knowledge about crypto stormed the market because they saw other people making massive profits very quickly. The inevitable crash after the peak now has spooked the 'noobs' away with panic-sells and all. I'd be surprised if we see the next ATH in 2018 but who knows!

Buy the rumor, sell the news. So if your actions on the trademarket are based on news then you might get burned seriously. Did it a few times myself in the past, did not enjoy. I do look at charts in the sense that I won't go near coins that have been pumped recently as a subsequent drop is usually around the corner in that case. There's no technical analysis involved for me personally, its more like simply 'eye-balling' actions on the cryptomarket and only with (alt)coins that are more or less established.
