Thanks when i have a few weeks ill take a guess instead.  much better at guessing anyways.

Everyone thinks they are 'better at guessing'. If you are actually looking to found your decision on evidence and thinking, it is useful to know that the CEO of BFL is a convicted felon, whose previous crime resembles the pre-order scheme currently

The more I've considered it, the more I've realized that BFL is a complex long-con that is exploiting the greed and gambling habits of early bitcoin adopters (no judgement - these are vices I share as well).

Re: [POLL] Should Butterfly Labs (BFL) get a Scammer tag?
by

Did you actually pay in BTC, or just pay through BitPay? Cause if you actually paid with BTC, then yeah, you got fucked.

They're one in the same.

How buying a product from Butterfly Labs works:

Method #1: Paypal
Log on to Paypal >> Pay for the preorder through debit or credit >> BFL gets your cash

Method #2: Wire Transfer
Get bank info from BFL >> Contact your bank and send money to the account >> Wait a week or two >> BFL gets your cash

Method #3: Bitcoins
BFL sends you to BitPay >> BitPay calculates the cost in BTC >> Send BTC to BitPay >> BitPay instantly converts those coins to cash >> BFL gets your cash

The common theme here is that Butterfly labs doesn't deal in Bitcoins...

Yeah, that's what the website said, but I didn't know if they had changed it in the time since he bought the ASIC. I thought maybe at one time you could send straight BTC to BFL w/o BitPay as the middle-man.

I assume your response means that they have not.

Re: Estimated hashrate of the NSA?

There is already a thread on this where most relevant questions were discussed.

Cliffnotes: The NSA has a lot more important shit to worry about than a cryptocoin with 1B market cap.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=194641.0

Thanks for link. My thread came first though :-P.

Anyway, market cap is somewhat relevant, but somewhat irrelevant, to the discussion. I don't think that the NSA has 10+ people working on monitoring and coming up with ways to undermine Bitcoin 24/7. However, an organization that big can afford to spend some man-hours coming up with contingency plans in case the Feds decide to take it down.

I voted yes after receiving a refund of about 6BTC when I wrote them a mail asking back the 70BTC i paid back in September based on their lies at that time (I was stupid enough to provide a btc address in this mail).

So, I missed the opportunity to sell my 70BTC with good profit during the bubble and I dont have an order anymore. They refuse to reinstate the order now as well.

Soooo...let me get this straight...you paid BTC70 in September (valued at, what, $700-840 or so..assuming $10-12 a coin)...and you hate BFL because they didn't give you $17,000+ back during the bubble?

Are you retarded?

Did you actually pay in BTC, or just pay through BitPay? Cause if you actually paid with BTC, then yeah, you got fucked.

Are we pretending more than 10% of the buy "support" under $100 is real?  If so, why?

Because 250k coins were purchased during the testing of $50, and another 100k coins during the recent testing of $80? And this is only the amount purchased in the few hours directly surrounding these lows.

And we are certain that the majority of those coins were not purchased by the bots who removed their walls crashing the market in the first place?

Wait, we're certain that there are bots who removed the walls and crashed the market? Lets examine that a little more first.

As a member of the GoxBot collective I do not need to examine this any further. We know.

Pics or it didn't happen.

So much for a sell-off... back to 114... that 110 wall will be hard to knock down... Next crash will be $95-100 at the lowest..

If even death code is turning bearish, as he is predicting a lower bottom than we have had today, is really the time to buy, guys.

Remember what Warren Buffet said about being greedy when others are fearful, and fearful when others are greedy... Now it seems time to be greedy!  Grin

Completely agree - more than 50% of the people on the board are expecting 3 months of downtrend, so there are lot of coinz out there right now to have.

"Extremely well-known VCs"? Acronym search for "VC" yields nothing meaningful in a list of 50.  In other words, extremely well-known, when applied to "VC," (virtual currency?  Virtual credit?  Virtual company?) doesn't mean much?

Just cuz you don't what a VC is doesn't mean rich-folk don't.

[...] or leaves me with $220k funny money, and my remaining bitcoins valued at $300k/BTC in October, 2013.
Lol.  Go take an anti-delusion pill.

It should be obvious that anyone *really* believing the cruft you write wouldn't be selling, at any time, ever, for whatever reason.

Ergo, you don't believe this crap yourself.

I dunno, a ride up to 300k is gonna be a bumpy ride.

For 1btc to be worth $300k, it would mean that bitcoins has a market cap of 330 trillion dollars. That is, 330 trillion dollars would need to be spent in buying bitcoins. That is not going to happen. Not this year, not this decade, probably not even this century unless we get an American Zimbabwe.

So much bad math on this board.

3e5 * 1e7 = 3e12 = $3,000,000,000,000 = 3 trillion.

But I agree, in general, with the sentiment. I don't see the market cap of bitcoin being 3 trillion by the end of the year. I think we could see $10k, which is a market cap of ~$100 billion.

Yes. I would very much like to bet on this, using a trusted escrow, and a mutually agreed upon way of figuring out what the 'real value' of BTB is.

No to really change the world we need something better, humbler, deeper. I only wish everybody here had read Neil Stephenson's Novels...

I am a big Stephenson fan, and I am re-reading Cryptonomicon right now to give me a different frame for looking at Bitcoin. In your mind, what makes the fictional e-banking system they plan on running through the Crypt 'better & deeper' than the possibilities of Bitcoin?

No, the math is right. At the price they are giving, Price = $.0875/FTC.

It is their logic which is wrong! Haven't you been reading the trollbox? Clearly the Real Market Price of FTC = $875/FTC

No, I wasn't trying to scam anybody. Cryptonit won't let me withdraw my funds -- I was unwise to put any FTC on there, as I stated earlier in the thread :-P. I refunded derezzed the BTC he sent me.

Edit: Toschi sent first in his transaction with me, though it was for a suspiciously small amount - I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to build up a transaction to use later.

Your pool is awesome! Having much better success with you guys that coinotron.

One thing: I forgot my password, and the reset form didn't send a temp password to my email (check spam and everything). Could you help me out a bit? User name is the same as on here. If you could send a password I could use to login to the associated email address, that would help alot. Thanks.
