What a big fucking surprise. A lot of people involved in the decision making probably doesn't understand how it works anyway. Moving along.

Because they now have the ability to control production of their currency to influence inflation and postpone a recession to their advantage whether it be for international affair purposes or internal....with a standardized cryptocurrency the power goes to the people completely....and this can be a good or bad thing for the people but most definitely bad for the government.

Coin is p2p software or program built from unique code source or cloned from another code source like litecoin, token is issuable within coin platform like ethereum, nxt, waves.....

I'm not sure if I understood you correctly.... How I understood it is that a coin is the actual currency of a specific company or their "product" while a token is more like a "share" in a more traditional company.....correct? O.o

Re: Best BTC wallets? Learning the basics

There are a lot of different types of a wallets, each different type offers different benefits and drawbacks. So to ask which one is the "best" won't get you a good answer. There's hardly such thing a single "best" wallet. It depends on balance size, your use for bitcoin, your interest in level of management of your wallets (do you want to be your own bank), and your personal threshold for security.

Instead of asking us here, check out this site to help you choose your wallet: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

There's more information out there on each, but this will help you narrow down the choices from the universe of options.

One last thing, there is one "wallet" that's paying interest on deposits. I put wallet in quotes because it actually started as a bitcoin faucet, so no one thinks of it as a wallet. But you can deposit your coins to this faucet and they will pay interest on your balance, daily. The interest is at 4% annually...so better than what's available in the fiat world. PM me if you want more details.

Thanks for the link Smiley

I'm not sure what a faucet is though, elaborate?

I'm sure they understand it perfectly. But if cryptocurrency becomes the norm, they lose all control.

Currently they have the power to influence interest rates and adjust the printing of USD to control the inflation in the US. Through this they can post-pone inflation or a recession. This can be played in their advantage in international affairs as well as domestic and if they standardize Cryptocurrency they lose their most powerful weapon, the economy.

The difference between the coin and token it was not at his usual number of printing different from that which I know there may be willing adding again

Didn't understand you quite well, could you rephrase?

Re: How to use a Bitcoin Hardware Wallet - Ledger Nano S

Hey guys, I finally got my hands on a Ledger Nano S, so I made a quick video showing how to get started with it/how it works.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YI1OntWB7wc
Is this necessary if using Electrum? Or are these 2 different kinds of wallets?

I definitely recommend using the Electrum wallet. Ever since Blockchain.info changed their UI, I haven't been a fan. If you want a simplistic wallet, it will work, but if you want more complete control I definitely recommend something like Electrum. With Electrum, you can control which addresses you send funds from and it has better fee estimation with the Dynamic Fees feature which is now enabled by default in new versions.

Yes, It will probably be the one I am going to use... just doing a bit more research to understand how the keys and trading works in general before I start buying or selling any coins. I don't want to make any noob mistakes xD

Thanks )

Re: In what situation would Bitcoin die?
by

on 13/03/2017, 14:10:22 UTC
In my opinion, bitcoin wont die. It wont happen . Because nowadays many people started to prefer bitcoin over fiat currencies because of its wonderful features. Bitcoin's price can crash if many countries ban the usage of bitcoin. Or if any hacking or anything similar to that happens,  definitely its price will crash. But it wont die.
agreed, it can take a hit, but cryptocurrencies are here to stay. And the governments know it, so I doubt they will ban it...the sooner they can find a way to regulate it though, the quicker it will become the new standard.

the only thing I can think of that can make a serious impact is quantum computing....even then I think that it would take a big hit in it's value but will still hold up because of it's ability to be transferred anywhere in the world instantly.

The liquidity of cryptocurrencies is just too valuable for it to die out completely.

The bridge needs to be gapped between Fiat and digital currency. ETF will accept bitcoin, it's just a matter of time.

Re: Best BTC wallets? Learning the basics

Wallets and exchanges are two different things, If you want to store your coins securely then I suggest using Electrum for Windows and Mycelium for Android. These wallets allow receiving and sending clearly so you will be able to deposit into exchanges, do what you have to do and then withdraw later.

There is no wallets that could make change your BTC to USD and keep it there, If you want a wallet that have built-in exchange (for other coins) then Exodus.io would be the best choice.

And i'm guessing that Electrum and Mycelium would be synced? or are they separate accounts?

So if you can't exchange to USD permanently then selling your coins to other people is the only option to get USD? if so, where would be the best place to do so?
I know of a company that will do this in the future but who knows how long it will take to get banks to sign off on it, might be years from now.

I'm looking to buy some bitcoin but don't know much about wallets and how they're used.

Any tips or links on where I can read up on it?

I use android and windows if it matters at all. What is the friendliest and most secure wallets available out there right now?

Thanks Smiley
Firstly let me tell you using online wallets in not recommend as they keep crashing.
By online wallets i mean blockchain.info . Even when I try to make transactions it crashes.

Now using offline wallets like mycelium and electurm is the most recommended.
You can even use electurm as your pc wallet.

I've heard of Electrum, is it able to transfer/exchange between different kinds of coins? or is it able to change to fiat money in any way?

Board Mining (Altcoins)
Re: Can mining altcoins be profitable on a gaming PC?
by

on 13/03/2017, 11:51:02 UTC
I am completely in the dark when it comes to mining and am quite new to cryptocurrencies in general. But was wondering if it is possible to still make some money on my PC.

I believe mining mostly uses GPU, and if so, would a radeon R9 390X be sufficient to make it worth the effort?

(P.S. I have it overclocked and watercooled as well if that would make a difference) and im paying just under 12 cents/Kwh.

The R9 390x is a beast on the Zcash algo. Download claymores miner from this forum and mine away. Do not forget to underclock and undervolt your card because it will be running 24/7 and power efficiency matters (you dont need the 390X overclocked, even for gaming, that is serious overkill).

Thanks )

I would gladly start mining once I get back home(am overseas), but I barely understand any of the mining Jargon.... you have any links that explains it for newbs or any guidelines I can follow? and thanks again Smiley

Quantum computing + Mining = ???

So IBM has created a division in their company devoted to creating software for quantum computers. They're planning to make them commercially available.
What do you guys think will happen to mining once it goes public?

P.S. in theory quantum computing makes it possible to find solutions to problems without checking all possible calculations but rather directly finding the solution.

What are your theories/thoughts on this?
