Sorry for the late inactivity, but we have been busy with work on our future announcement. Rest assured microCoin is still going. The current policy is that we will be keeping a somewhat low profile for a while and do more promotion for microCoin later after our future announcement. Consider this a good chance to get some easy microCoin.

I thought you said there would be a vote at the end of the competition to gauge interest?
It's a shame, because I thought some of the other designs were much more unique, pretty and usable for purposes of advertising and brand recognition.
Everytime I look at that one I read the word "CUP" for some reason.

I've had that happen with small amounts on other exchanges as well the balance shows normally once you have a bit more.
BTC balance is now 2.033E-5
How much I need to sell so I will see correct BTC balance?

Be honest , i think EAC has a fatal design problem.
I disagree... after 2-3 years, when rewards have halved a couple times, it will be a needed infusion of coins. I think it is a smart, unique aspect to this coin.
If EAC could survive 2-3 years. I like the work done by DEV team and most of the features of EAC. but you have to admit, at this stage, 5x is a disadvantage for EAC compare to other new born coin. Maybe that's the reason why the price drop from 800 to 95.
As a investor, i have many choice. EAC is a good coin , but far from the best. I can easily name 3 coins have more investment value than EAC.
without 5x, consider the efforts that we have done, EAC should already be succese. 5x just not in favor of investors.
We haven't even had the first 5x day yet (besides launch day), can we wait and see how it actually goes before we yell that the sky is falling?

I donated 150K MRC a few days ago to the dev to hopefully use for giveaways. I think some nice big giveaways will help spread the word and grow some interest.
We'll definitely want to wait till after the logo contest though so that we can have a QT with the new picture and a nice big picture in the giveaway thread for people too see how nice it looks.
Then we can call it Version 1.1 of the client and people will see / think there's some good ongoing development which will help drive interest further

That's good to hear MCR, I think after the new branding is ready this coin has the chance to capture many people's attention so I'm very glad you guys will be making the most of it with strong marketing.

What exactly do you think needs to be added / removed / improved in the Earthcoin code?
I thought you were talking about related development like mobile wallets, merchants etc which Earthcoin has a fair amount of in the works.
Would changes to the codebase improve the value of the coin?

I don't think the dev anticipated that the nfactor would be scaling back gpu hashing power so fast we already droped 50%-60% and we're not even close to block 300k. I thought it was going to progressively slow down till we hit block 300k but are hashing power is dropping exponentially fast considering what block we're on
Well the code can be seen here: https://github.com/microcoinsource/microcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp in the function GetNfactor() but once it gets to bitwise shifting I no longer have any idea what's going on so I can't really tell you when it'll reach the maximum nFactor, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with any particular block.
Like I said though, I can't really follow through the logic of that function, so if anyone can, please provide some sort of idea of when it'll reach maximum nFactor.

holy crap my hash just dropped... does anyone know around what block GPU mining will no longer be feasible?
GPU mining will always be feasible, it's just getting brought in line with CPU mining. Seems like a bit of a shame to me because adding more GPUs is a much more costly / involved process than adding CPUs (in terms of finding computers with existing usable hardware, let alone botnets).
After the latest drop, GPU is still far better, but if it keeps dropping more (I have no idea how much further it has to go) then that could end up in a weird place.

So what's everyone think? Is this one a dud, or will it make it to an exchange? I think the progressive rewards are neat, but it's going to take a lot to get noticed in the vast sea of shitcoins out there.
Well, of course my opinion is a bit biased so I'll just state the facts.Even though there is no premine, the dev team has sufficient funds for promoting microCoin and creating bounties. As you can see there are several bounties in the bounties thread. The bounties paid so far amount to well over $1000. There is plenty more to spare still. So the development will continue and we will keep paying more bounties and actively seeking to get services for microCoin. Even if it would take over $10000, we are certain that we will get our investment back on the long run. There is also a bigger announcement for microCoin coming in the following weeks, but that will remain a secret for now. But you can be sure that we have no intention of stopping development, even less so, since we have invested our own money into this.
Of course everyone is free to think how they will, but this the dev team's stance on microCoin and will continue to be.
MCR do you have donation address for Microcoin? I'm not microcoin rich and I don't have a lot of hashing power but I'm willing to donate some micro to help this thing succeed!

On the extra reward days more miners jump onboard so the profitability stays roughly constant.
