@Klaus :: You are hitting the nail on the head. I also was very much surprised to see such an eloquent political posting while remaining completely incommunicado about the status and progress of new or repaired wallet. But it is only for 6 weeks now since Cryptsy first was confronted with a wallet unable to process transactions. Life is all about priorities ....

Who are the devs of this coin?

Well now, that's what I call a good question!

There is probably more than one dev busy now and more people seem to be engaged. But it is unclear who the devs are.

My guess is they skip the (faulty) previously released 1.2.x releases and that they are busy right now integrating the new Bitcoin (headers) 0.10 core with the eMark wallet. That would be a enormous step forward. It is good to remember all digital currencies are in their infancies and therefore experimental. A certain amount of trouble is to be expected. In my opinion the eMark devs are showing their best effort and in the meanwhile the eMark is holding extremely well on Cryptsy. If the eMark was available on another exchange, that exchange would experience similar problems as Cryptsy is having right now.

In general: if you want more certainty, maybe another market is better suited for you. No one - and certainly not the eMark team - is waiting for an outage like this.

@Rausvi :: Relax!  What goes down must go up! (Or not  ;o))

A lot of altcoins are going downwards while Bitcoin is going upwards.
So: prepare for trading  Cool

@Rausvi

The eMark network is fully operable, but the Cryptsy wallet is seriously affected because it cannot process transactions. So no one is able to deposit or withdraw eMarken at Cryptsy at the moment. I'm not related to one of both parties but I assume the dev team and Cryptsy administrator have an open line and matters will be resolved in a couple of days from now.

@Rausvi

For what understood is that there are two wallet versions available:
- 1.1.0.0 latest update based on old bitcoin database (source and install)
- 1.2.x pre-releases based on a new leveldb (faster, more support for future options) (source only)

Version 1.1.0.0 works alright. Version 1.2.1 seems to have a problem in processing transactions (stalls in certain cases). Not a big problem unless ... your role is pivotal in the eMark network, as is the case with Cryptsy. So problem lies on the eMark side although I get the impression that Cryptsy installed the latest version ignoring the pre-release status. One of the devs acknowledged the problem and indicated to strive for a solution end of this week(end). Fingers crossed for white smoke  ;o))

Maybe more proper and clear communication can prevent such a situation in the future.

@ Rausvi :: the hashing rate seem to be proportional to the exchange rate. No problem there.
The gradual pace of growth looks healthy to me and seems a promise for the future.

Hi Cleric,

Please don't use your cpu miner (minerd) for mining. Those days are over. If you want to try mining yourself please consider purchasing a couple of Bitmain U1 Antminers. They can be plugged straight into your USB port, hash at least at around 1.6 Giga Hash per second per device at 2.5W power usage. Your cpu miner now hashes around 5 kilo hash in sCrypt (!! That should be in SHA256 and that would then be approximately 5 mega hash , DEM uses this SHA256-algorithm) at approximately 80W (@ 100% cpu utilisation). So one Antminer U1 hashes around 1000 as fast as your computer and uses only 4% of the power. Antminer U1 can be bought second hand for about 10 - 15 euro. You can (and should) use multiple.

Please note that MINERD can not be trusted and is often infected with viruses or malware. Be advised to check your system's integrity.

The correct systax should be: -a sha256d

Good luck!

Good to see a new wallet! Thumbs up!

How does PoS work? I am not a fan of PoS but since it is there and an annual 3.8% .... well ... it's something.

Of course I installed the new wallet. It looks good and everything seems to works fine.
Can you please update the (official) website! I would like to suggest a file naming format to prevent future problems: international date format - name / content - version. For example 141031_eMark-qt_v1.1.zip so that files automatically are ordered by date.

My eMarks sind largely parked at Cryptsy. What does this mean for staking? Does the holder now receive the stake instead or the owner? And if I send my eMarks home, does it start staking or do I have to wait for another year / month? It now says 'Not staking because you don't have mature coins'.

What is the implication of staking for the exchange rate? Diluting the eMark means devaluating of the existing coins because you have to share the same market cap with more coins.

When in debug mode - console the command 'getstakinginfo' says enabled: true - staking: false.  (netstakeweight 4111 - what does that mean??)

(if you prefer to answer in German please feel free, it is no problem for me)

Alicea said it all. This coin is running around for a year now and hasn't been serviced in this period. And still everything is well! A new face is maybe more attractive but doesn't add any functionality. And POS stinks. Real life test: put a 10 euro note on the table, wait a year and check if after this year there is an extra 30 cents beside the note. Money needs to work, just like people.

Over the past months I learned a lot about coins, mining and markets. If you take a "dead" coin with a relatively small community and you bring down the exchange rate you will see miners (especially auto-switching multi pools) leaving and the difficulty dropping. In return the reward for your mining activities will rise. In the time you can buy other miners' (especially the auto-selling) eMarks at junk prices. From that viewpoint it was a very interesting summer. Now prices are (being brought) up, another and more rewarding time has arrived. This growth / phase will attract new attention and new capital. And early adopters will have an opportunity to cash in and get rewarded for all their investments and efforts.

And with a market cap of still only 60k USD it is very easy to own (and control) a serious part of the eMark market with only limited amount of Bitcoins.

Yep!   Cool

Oh, your dead coin just jumped from 765 sat this morning to 1160+ sat now in the evening. Hashrate jumped from 20 to almost 40 TH.

WOW. So dead coin. Much buy. Such cheap. To the moon and beyond ...

Maybe we can give the eMark new functionality and a support team as birthday present!   Cool

Why should you receive stake (belohnung oder rente) for coins you keep in your pocket? Huh

When you put euro's or any other fiat currency in a bank account the bank gives you a reward / compensation in return because they use your money to make them more money. I don't see any - and I mean any - reason to reward or compensate coin holders. If you lend them to someone else one could expect and receive a compensation in return. This is already the case for ages and works perfectly fine. Why staking (creating free coins) without a reason?

Staking also brings about people to hold their coins. On the contrary, Freicoin uses a demurrage mechanism probably to encourage people to use their coins. Something currencies are meant for. There's a saying that 'coins need to roll' and I think that's more than true.   Wink

I just notice that most of the posts in this thread are about mining pools, and there's really nothing about the coin and trade.
What would you like to know about trading? eMark is pretty slow right now. I more and more understand the people who say eMark is dead. It isn't but eMark certainly isn't a 'day trader' either.

Is there any problems with Emark network, tried to tranfer into my wallet and also into an exchange some coins but they dont appear anywhere.

The only exchange trading DeM is Cryptsy and the had a major 'outage'. That has been solved now since 3 september. The network itself looks very healthy to me. No problemo there. Try sending a small amount to yourself to see if your wallet and firewall settings are OK.

MfG Tom
hope you will keep them not sell right away Smiley

It seems that the time has come to get your DeM out of the basement. The DeM has come alive again on Cryptsy!

problem trying to unlock wallet - says parse error
so how do I unlock to stake and trying solo with cgminer 4.5 - says no address ether but thats no big deal probly never find a block anyways so pool much better,
is there a bat file I should make to unlock wallet?

Hi Valta,

Unlocking the wallet for solo mining isn't difficult, but hard to find out!

The trick?
Open the 'console' of your wallet by opening the Help menu >>> debug screen >>> console
Then at the prompt type "Walletpassphrase Your_very_secure_password 900000 true"

900000 is the amount of seconds the wallet stays unlocked and ...
"true" means the wallet is unlocked ONLY for minting!  (but if that is entirely true .... ?)

* if you mine solo with your wallet locked a found block will be rejected ....   *

And solo mining is rewarding since difficulty isn't that high. With a 5 GHash hashrate you will find a block every 2 days on average, or something like that.

Thumbs up for Germany (since our team has dropped out of the competition  ;o))

Who is the one on Cryptsy entering endless lists of buy / sell orders of 10, 20, 50 or 100 DeM, with only 1 satoshi difference?
Please, if you read this, stop it and start trading. You are driving away people from the DeM! You need people to trade.
For now both volume and fun have been squeezed out ....    thnx.
