Hi Everyone -

Bitcoin Alchemy - https://bitcoinalchemy.com
We are officially announcing our website and open beta today of our profit switching scrypt mining pool. We offer miners the option to take payouts in Bitcoin, Bullion, or any combination of the two with website registration, or you can anonymous mine. Mining pool fees are currently set to 1%.

We have BTC, X11, X13, NScrypt pools in development that should be ready by next month (October '14). We are also in the process of reworking our information dashboard to include more statistics (BTC per megahash, Exchanged, Unexchanged, Sent, etc)

We're just not another mining pool though, as we have a full Bullion store that sells and buys gold, silver, platinum and palladium.  See a better price elsewhere or a product not listed?  Let us know and we'll beat the price or add the product. Bullion shipments are currently limited to US addresses - International shipping, where allowed, is being sorted out by the lawyers.

We also have a cryptocurrency asset management tool that is currently in very early alpha, that will assist with outlining income tax laws and liabilities.

Bitcoin Alchemy is a registered LLC in the state of Nevada and a Silver Bitcoin Foundation member. 5% of profits are donated to charity and will help be determined by input from the community.

Indiegogo campaign
Our launch is also coinciding with our Indiegogo campaign launch.  As you can tell we have a lot going on and myself and my partners have been funding everything ourselves to date on our own.  Our goal is to have our mining pools pay for our continued development but until we get to that point were looking for funding support for our development and marketing.  Check out our campaign:

The article does not take into account other activities that have taken place the last few weeks such as Mt.Gox stopping all withdrawals that triggered a panic nor does it take into account governments like Russia stating that Russian companies should not use or accept virtual currencies.  There's been a LOT of negative press lately, and it is a very dynamic environment with a lot of variables.  Just attributing a lack of increase in value because Overstock started accepting bitcoin is like saying the ruble is going to increase because Overstock starts accepting it.  It doesn't (and shouldn't) happen.

The unexchanged balance on the website isn't very accurate right now. I have to update the exchange rate manually, and I don't do that very often. So don't trust it 100%.

The question is which way is it inaccurate, too much or too little Smiley

This thread is funny.  If you suspected Fraud from this company, your first step would be to file a criminal complaint with the police that would investigate and then refer the case to onward.

Actually, that is not true. In the United States, Private Citizens must report Fraud to the Attorney Generals Office in their State. Local Police Office's can't even take a report in most cases, they can only refer you to the Attorney General.

Yes, you are right, but without going down the rat hole, it is unlikely that AG would do anything without guidance at the federal level and likely be FINCEN and also a Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).  This is why you go to a lawyer as your first step and gather any evidence and submit an online or telephone report. After the initial report is filed, you will then be asked to provide evidence which usually takes several days to weeks and would happen well before having the opportunity to meet an AG.  And you ALWAYS want a lawyer present, as you can and likely will, incriminate yourself in some fashion.

This thread is funny.  If you suspected Fraud from this company, your first step would be to file a criminal complaint with the police that would investigate and then refer the case to onward.  Alternatively, you would contact a lawyer to advise you on your next steps and actions.  If you truly had 63 BTC "lost" on Cryptsy, you could afford such an attorney.  You would not directly take your case or complaint to the Attorney General (assistant or otherwise).  Furthermore, even if you were able file such a complaint, kudos' to Cryptsy and Florida for you being able to do so.  Have you tried doing such things with BTC-E, MCXnow, or others?  Cryptsy posts their office information and ownership directly on the website.  Doesn't seem like such a scam, or if it is, it's a really good one that seems to be costing them more than it is earning.

Secondly, Cryptsy seems to be keeping everyone in the loop with what is going on.  I get tweets almost every day of what is happening and the issues that are being experienced, including the huge backlog of support requests that they are getting.  It's not like they are being oblivious to them or not responding.  You can't say the same about some other exchanges.

Finally, this is the wild west at the moment in time for Cryptocurrency.  Companies and sites supporting Cryptocurrencies are going through explosive and unprecedented growth.  You have to EXPECT these type of issues and make your own personal safeguards and judgments.  If you can't stomach the loss you should not be in this market at this time.  I've had minor losses (MCXFees) and huge gains on minimal investments (MasterCoin.org).  I wish I had invested more on my successes but I took the risk that I could stomach to lose and/or gain from it.  You should be treating the Exchanges the same way, Cryptsy or otherwise.

UPDATE SHARE TRANSFER TO HAVELOCK:

We have asked the Cryptostocks administrator for a full shareholders list. If we are unable to obtain such a list, the shares have to be transferred to our account manually.

In case a manual transfer is needed, we will pay for the transfer fee.

Shareholders can already make an account at Havelock with the same e-mail address they used on Cryptostocks.

We will keep you informed.

Which email address do we transfer the shares to?

Holy cow!

It seems every decent AMD card is sold out EVERYWHERE. I could not find a 7950, 290, 290x or anything else remotely similar anywhere. Prices on ebay are absurd.

After mining for a little bit with my measily 5870 in a desktop, I decided today it was time to build a proper 4-5 GPU rig. Looks like that is not happening. It looks that I could also sell the 5870 on ebay for more than I paid 2 years ago, but it's too profitable to let go.

Everything I have read says the 7950s are still the best price / power / performance.  That being said, they're next to impossible to find at decent prices and even the couple I have had to RMA to Gigabyte recently are coming back as 7970's now.

Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address”

Who do we want as Board Members

As for who we want as Board Members I hope everyone will consider my input on this given I've served on a number of Boards over the years.

The most important criteria for a Board member ought to be: Connections + Relationships they can bring to bare in order to benefit the Foundation's work and more broadly the whole Mastercoin Community. In a close second is the level of experience the candidate has in developing new technology projects in order to provide input and accountability.

Let me give you one simple example. I sat on the Board of a Biotech / Energy Startup. The most important member we attracted was the retired President of a major oil company. Because of her connections we made important in roads with a Fortune 100 strategic partner that ended up funding our renewable energy efforts. Without her I'm sure our startup would not have been taken seriously or would we have had the experience to know how to manage such a big customer / relationship.

That's what you want out of a board member. You want someone with relationships, connections, and experience to provide accountability and input to management who tackles things day to day.

Brock Pierce is the perfect example of this. The guy is basically the grandfather of virtual currency having been building and investing in startups in the space since the late 1990's / early 2000's. He is a super Angel in the Bitcoin space and travels around the world to jurisdictions such as Singapore, Hong Kong and others helping build companies in the Bitcoin space. While you are never going to get Brock to work full time on Mastercoin, his relationships, connections and input are invaluable to the Mastercoin effort having been there since the Exodus Address and actively been involved in Board discussions.

We want a clear separation between Board Members and the operational team. I agree with your comment about wanting to avoid conflicts of interest with those providing accountability and those receiving the funds for their efforts.

I'd recommend approaching a partner at a Big 4 firm (PwC, EY, KPMG, Deloitte).  They can provide insight to international accounting, tax laws, and have partners worldwide that have global insight and political connections.  (As a matter of full disclosure, I work for EY in the IT department and not on the business side)

Katten Muchin is the law firm that assisted the Winklevoss twins with their Bitcoin ETF and understand the US laws and regulations with Virtual Currency.  Maybe another worthwhile approach.

Linkedin also has http://nonprofits.linkedin.com/ that can be used for finding board members.

I think the website should be more optimised... I'd like to see how much I have earned instead of searching through thousands of people (Yes the CTRL+F in Chrome works). Plus, wouldn't retrieving EVERYBODY all at once just cause heavy load on the database? Especially if lots of people are wanting to view the page as well. Possibly a future improvement.

In the meantime....

Thanks for the very handy script.  It works in Chrome too with TamperMonkey.

Just curious, why do you build up so much matured, as of now almost 22BTC worth, before you sell just part of it? Are you waiting for the value of that one particular coin to raise or is it something else?  A couple of weeks ago you sold as you mined and there was only a little matured lingering.  The past weeks matured has grown every day.

The answer to that is two posts before your post.

so now if is switch off this pool, will i still get paid all the stuff i was shortchanged in the payouts?

You'll still get paid, it catches up eventually.

it says on calc i should be getting 0.07-0.08 mining ltc, my payout was only 0.026...is that normal?

The payout was less than optimal. In the last 19 hours, we're at 40% LTC luck (4 blocks).

that explains it, i guess ill go directly mine ltc, sorry Smiley

be patient.

middlecoin is the most profitable scrypt pool.

I would definitely agree with that.  I've tried doing my own profitability mining with CGWatcher and running on different multipools, but this has been by far the easiest and most profitable.  h2odysee really takes all the work out out of it.  You'll also find that LTC won't be the most profitable at some point and manually trying to figure out what the next, reliable one is, is a PITA having to find, set up the new walllet or pool if not solo mining, and then doing all the exchange hassle.  It all goes in waves, and this pool definitely helps smooth it out.

I'm assuming the balance that's been sitting in immature coins for the last week or so is that bug that you're working on?

Yeah. It seems to have been building up for the past week or 2.

Yes, TAG is in the mix.

You may as well just list all the coins at the point, everyone keeps asking if this or that coin is in the mix every 10 messages or so.  Probably compile a pretty substantial list of the coins in the rotation at this point.

Temporary (real) or not, no one will ever trust MCXNow as a legitimate exchange again.  He just did a nuclear bomb to his credibility, which was already in question.  Thankfully, I never put more than I could afford to lose there for this very reason and questioned his whole long term lack of redundancy and his resistance to want to pursue fiat since it would have required him to register for legitimate business licenses and regulatory oversight.  Something he could have easily pursued and paid for with the funds that were raised for the fee shares.

Well played scamming the BTC.

So some unsolicited feedback about the pool.

I've used other multi pools, did my own profitability switching via CGWatcher, and just speculation mining of coins and I have to say I've had a steadier and higher income using middlecoin than any other previous method.  The only complaint I can really make about the pool is the slightly higher pool fee over others but it's like complaining about the color of a Maserati.

I just wanted to post and reiterated a warning to everyone regarding the safety and storage of their wallets.  The other day, I had to reformat my drive, but in a spectacularly idiotic move on my part, I failed to backup the bitcoin wallet before I did so.  Thankfully no BTC were lost, since I do not store coins in my PC wallet for this very reason.  However, I failed to remember that I had purchased a small amount of Mastercoin with that wallet address (1Fi4UdfU7Bw9CdX85K2rtzMoZuESvDPNS7) which are now forever a memory unless by some miracle I can find a backup I had thought I had made.

Thankfully all is not lost since I had purchased mastercoins on my web wallet as well, but it certainly does sting quite a bit...

Just wanted to put a quick review up there that I had a positive experience purchasing Splinter Cell Blacklist this afternoon and receiving the gift code.  Due to the exchange differences, it actually ended up being a few USD cheaper for me to buy with BTC than directly from Steam with USD.  Total transaction time took about 1.5 hours.
