Governments are the ones who threaten destroy the world with their mass destruction weapons. And those toys are financed with fiat money, not Bitcoin.

Nice.
Interesting that most people have no idea of what network improvements like Lightning Network are, so I guess they would be even more optimistic if they knew what's being developed behind the scenes.

If you were new to trading, charts, markets, etc.. Where would you start learning the common background and basics to be able to at least know what you do, not yet to know how to make profits.
This is a good place to start: stockcharts.com/school

It depends on you skills and ambitions. If you have good programming skills, for example, and want to make much money, creating a service that accepts Bitcoin, or which improves Bitcoin's user experience, might be a good idea.

Re: What Type Of Asset Do You Think Bitcoin Is?
by

It's a virtual asset which can be dissapear at any time.
Bitcoin is risky, that's why it makes a lot of profit.
more risk more profit.
How can it disappear. AFAIK, Bitcoin is the most, and maybe the only, scarce digital asset in the planet. It means that it can neither be created nor destroyed.

Bitcoin has certain characteristics that are similar to typical commodities, such as gold. Bitcoin also meets some requirements of the standard definition of a currency. Some argue that bitcoin is a security, or an investment contract with implicit or explicit ownership terms.
What Type Of Asset Do You Think Bitcoin Is? Commodity, Currency, Security, Perfect hedge?
It's clear for us, who understand the technology and applications of it, that Bitcoin is a currency. However, for many investors in the world, Bitcoin is seen as a commodity.
For me, Bitcoin is much more than that, since a commodity, in general, doesn't give you the possibility of buying goods and services with it.

The problem is that, at some point, most cryptocurrencies are going to compete with Bitcoin for electricity. I also have seen some respectful analyst to say that it is possible to create ASICs to mine coins that could only be mined by GPUs. If that statement is correct, such cryptocurrencies might have a hard time in the future.

Re: Will The Price Of Bitcoin Increase Forever?
by

on 22/03/2018, 15:28:20 UTC
As I heard a lot of prediction about bitcoin that it is going to $ 1mn till end of 2020 and people will see it soon. As a holder of bitcoin I am always worried that bitcoin may not go down as I am much money in it. I mostly think that I should sell my bitcoin now and make my money but also fears to post the train of bitcoin. So what are you people suggestions that will bitcoin will always continue to grow or will it stablize at some price or may go down?

The price is a result of supply and demand.
If demand continues to go up forever, at fixed supply, the price could only go up. However, that's technically impossible, since there isn't an infinite supply of fiat in the world for people to buy it forever.

Re: G-20 Cryptocurrency meeting
by

I didn't realize there was a G-20 meeting on cryptocurrency, but according to CNBC, it was "very positive" for crypto.  Apparently, it was closed door meeting but reports were good.  From the article:

""The spirit of the discussion was very productive, and I agree that everybody left very pleased," governor of the Central Bank of Argentina, Federico Sturzenegger, said Tuesday during a press conference. "It was a very good meeting."

Cryptocurrency discussions happened during a closed-door session earlier Tuesday, a spokesperson from the G-20 told CNBC."

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/20/bitcoin-bounces-back-above-8800-after-a-very-positive-g-20-cryptocurrency-meeting.html
I did not expect Bitcoin to reach such conferences so fast. Awareness about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general are increasing day by day.

The fact that they will consider to regulate, instead of prohibiting its use, it is another good sign.

Re: Buying from ICO or trading altcoin.

Which is more risky buying a token from the ICO or in trading?
IMO, ICOs are much riskier, since you have to trust developers that already have the money, and nothing to lose.

In trading, it's you and the market. You just need to learn and constantly update yourself to increase your chances.

You miss the key points of Bitcoin. Well, it's never too late to learn:
  • Censorship Resistant Transactions;
  • Permissionless Value Transfer;
  • Borderless Value Transfer.

Hello,

Most of you are confident with the long term for Bitcoin. Yet some altcoins has the same features so why are you so confident about bitcoin and not about litecoin instead?

I compared them and approximatevily the same assets!
The only difference is that bitcoin was the first, is it that important?
If you compare the hashrate and mining decentralization of Litecoin and Bitcoin, you will be able to see that the difference is not only in the fact that Bitcoin is the first.

And when you compare the network effect, you will be able to see that Bitcoin is far ahead of Litecoin and any other crypto.

Re: Fixed income with BTC trading?
by

I think there is no such thing as fixed income in crypto. Even exchanges, known by some as the most stable businesses, and that has fixed commissions, do not have fixed income, since commissions are percentages of what people are trading. And that changes a lot...

In my own opinion bitcoin is not really better than cash, It only happens that the value of bitcoins is very high and there is a lot of interest on it from different investors. People that are working in different campaigns are usually exchanging their bitcoins to real cash after the payouts has been distributed.
You probably do not have much understanding of what sound money really is. Things like censorship resistance, borderless transactions, permissionless value transfer and limited supply can make any cryptocurrency be far ahead of Fiat, and Bitcoin is already very advanced in that regard.

Not sure if it will continue to go up, but being in an ATH means that it will probably break previous highs, and at some point be above $5000.

It would be very nice to have a good streaming video service accepting Bitcoin. It would allow people to have an easy way to pay for the service, and would increase the Bitcoin userbase.

Re: Is it possible for the bitcoin to lose it's value ?
by
Owl_Fintech
on 29/08/2017, 04:12:54 UTC
At this point it would be very unlikely but there is still a slim possibility, some well known millionaires and billionaires already invested on bitcoin. They definitely won't allow their investment to lose it's value regardless of.
That's true, but the same investors may sell if they see things are not going very well. Fortunately, I think most investors are now more confident in Bitcoin, since it's solving one of its biggest problems, with SegWit, and soon we will have more things coming, like LN, sidechains and hopefully features that bring anonymity, such as Mimblewimble.
