Re: Is Poloniex Dead
by

on 17/06/2019, 23:58:19 UTC
At least so far Poloniex has been one of the most useful exchanges for me, although I must admit that at present there are several exchanges that offer better services than Polo. I do not think Poloniex can recover its previous prestige to become a leader of the market again, but I think it still has much to give its users, especially for those who handle little investment volume.

Re: Mine crypto on your smartphone

The simple fact of seeing so much publicity about it everywhere (especially in faucets) and the great efforts to obtain referrals made by this type of user, shows that it is nothing more than another multilevel scheme, or perhaps a ponzi. Not even the possibility of "mining" from the cell phone seems so convincing to use this as the main argument to promote this project, so I do not think it is worth even making an attempt to participate in it, compromising the security of our mobile device just for pennies.

Re: Can BNB beat Ethereum?
by
Pagri
on 17/06/2019, 23:35:24 UTC
It is true that at the moment BNB seems more promising than ethereum, however it has several problems that would prevent it from being a convenient long-term option: Binance is a business whose main objective is the exchange of cryptocurrencies, so it will continually be subject to review by the authorities, and will be under threat of hackers.

In addition, Binance has an owner and therefore is centralized, since as any company its main priority is to obtain profits for its owner and its investors, which does not happen with ethereum.

Re: What would happen to banks?
by
Pagri

Perhaps the disappearance of the banks would have been possible if the development of the bitcoin had happened as it was originally planned, where bitcoin users would base their economic exchanges on mutual trust, but at present big capital seems to have taken control of the market and they seem to have the power to move the bitcoin according to their interests, therefore sooner or later there will be a greater integration between the current banking system and the cryptocurrencies, as in fact it seems to be happening nowadays.

Re: Is this the ideal time to buy Bitcoin? What do you think?
by
Pagri
on 16/06/2019, 20:32:22 UTC
It is true that many expect that the price of bitcoin may enter a dizzying bullish trend for the rest of the year, but still I think it is highly likely that there may be a correction before reaching $10K, but this is nothing more than a assumption that may not apply to the unpredictable behavior of bitcoin.

However, every trader with some experience knows that it is never a good decision to enter the market during periods of high volatility like this one. I would invest only a small fraction of my capital now, and I would expect a break from the market to try to determine an upcoming trend in the market.

Re: the Veil Project Mining- Privacy without Compromise

It is noteworthy that despite the great volatility that has been observed in the crypto market, the price of Veil has remained very stable throughout the month of June. Well, what else would I like to see again the prices reached in the fourth week of April, but the simple fact that it has been possible to stop the fall this could be the preamble of a gradual recovery, something very good in view of the notable fall experienced by the most of altcoins before the imposing advance of bitcoin.

Re: Somehow tired of bounty/airdrop (share your story on this thread)
by

on 16/06/2019, 19:03:52 UTC
Personally I am also tired of participating in bounties, and not only because of the difficulty that means currently obtaining good profits from it, but because after a couple of years of being involved in this type of activities I have found that everything is very repetitive and mentally exhausting, especially when you realize you need to do twice as much work as before to get less than half of what you used to earn.

Fortunately, I was able to invest some of my profits adequately in the good times of the bounties and today I do not feel as much pressure for profit as in the beginning.

Undoubtedly, there are a lot of useful things that can be done with our mobile phones, but perhaps one of the worst things that can be done is to use it to "mine" altcoins that may not even pay to recover the investment. In addition, I think it is not worth compromising the security of your devices and slow down its operation just to earn pennies, and this in the best of cases.

Re: Poloniex will become great again!
by
Pagri
on 15/06/2019, 19:33:16 UTC
I do not know if Poloniex can return to occupy a relevant place in the market in the near future, because unfortunately Binance has become a dominant monster that seems to devour everything, and a lot of good quality exchanges have appeared that seem to offer better features than Poloniex, however, I believe that one of the great advantages that will allow it to continue gaining customers is that it has been able to survive over the years, adapting successfully to the constant demands of the market, which I believe has made it a mature and reliable exchange, worthy to recover some of its previous leadership.

Re: Will 2019 be the year of Altcoins ?
by

on 13/06/2019, 23:56:39 UTC
We are already mid-year, and the partial balance seems quite good, at least much better than was thought at the beginning of the year, when a rather pessimistic environment prevailed and many predicted the worst possible scenarios.

On the contrary, after a period of stagnation during the first quarter, the months of April and May brought a significant recovery in the market, so after a relatively quiet June I would expect a good year close for all the altcoin market.

Re: It's hard to get profit in crypto trading.
by
Pagri
on 13/06/2019, 23:01:03 UTC
Well, it must be taken into account that the only way in which profits can be obtained in a speculative market is through volatility, and these days it seems that the market is taking a breather after the great intensity observed in the months of April and May. And this was to be expected, because there is no market that can sustain such a vertiginous rhythm in a permanent way, because investors also need to take a break to rebalance their assets and rethink strategies, so we could also take advantage to take a well deserved Summer break before returning to the beautiful roller coaster that is approaching.

Re: Is Wall Street really interested in Bitcoin?
by
Pagri
on 12/06/2019, 23:48:11 UTC
I do not like this type of news at all, because this action is a clear sign that speculative bubbles can be repeated again and again in this fragile market, because the old ideal of using bitcoin as a substitute for money fiat has been left far behind, to become almost exclusively an instrument of speculative investment, with very little use in the real economy.

Of course, this massive accumulation of bitcoins paints an ideal scenario for a new hike where only the great whales will benefit, by manipulating the price of bitcoin at convenience thanks to the large number of bitcoins they hold.

Re: Long-term plan for investment.

To be honest, when I started to get interested in the subject of cryptocurrencies I was still quite idealistic in my libertarian philosophy, and I was convinced that bitcoin was the economic alternative I was looking for as an option to defeat the establishment.

But as time has gone by it seems to me that things have changed and bitcoin has become another tool of big capital to accumulate money, so the only reason that motivates me to keep accumulating bitcoins today is to ensure a quiet old age, not so much trying to beat the dominant banking system.

Re: Beating down the U.S. Dollar
by
Pagri
on 11/06/2019, 21:12:18 UTC
Bitcoin has had ten long years to demonstrate its full potential as a strong competitor of the dollar in search of a new financial order, and apparently the results are still very limited, which in my opinion is a clear sign that the Bitcoin is not the answer that society is looking for.

I think bitcoin has become an attractive coin for people involved in the digital-technological field, but this sector is still too small to be of great relevance in the global economy, so the chances of a mass adoption still seem very distant for me, so for a long time the dollar will continue to reign as the world's dominant currency.

Re: Temporarily stop crypto trading?
by
Pagri
on 11/06/2019, 19:59:29 UTC
In my case something different happened. For several years I obtained very positive results, but this led me to become excessively overconfident, which gradually led me to take greater risks and suddenly I found that I had lost all my capital.

Only when I found myself with a zero balance, I decided to take a long break and only recently I have encouraged enough to return to trading, but now assuming a very conservative profile, strengthening my money management and setting realistic and achievable goals.

Re: Dead Coins - Coin Dead Before You Knew It
by

To be honest, I do not see much interest in creating such a list. The number of projects that have emerged in the cryptospace without success is so great that we could gather thousands and thousands of shitcoins that have emerged over the last few years, and the list would continue to grow every day. To cite an example, I participated for a few months in many airdrops offered in this forum and I was able to gather several hundred shitcoins that never gained any value or came to be listed in any exchange.

Re: Speculation Litecoin Prices Rises Higher Before Second Halving Reward
by
Pagri
on 09/06/2019, 19:20:58 UTC
And it rose a lot. Litecoin real value price is 4 to 5x less x eth and at moment is almost 110% more than that, tech wise = $50 usd, it's overvalued. I would sell all right now hehe or exchange for eth.

Whatever real value something has is determined by the market, in other words supply and demand. It's clear you're a Ethereum fanboy and your post is basically pointless.

You are right, value is determined by the market and market value is determined by tech value and speculation. At this moment ltc is at the speculation stage, ltc has very low tech value to be at this value, so as the speculation diminishes, ltc will start going back to its tech value. I do believe in dapps and that is related to eth and the future, so that is not about fanboyism, is about believe in something and see tech value in it, reason why even eos has a market cap closer than ltc at moment even though eos has a billion coins. LTC is overvalued as it only represents a very low tech value.

To be fair, He's right. I've been on these boards since '13 (other user names) and have seen you basically pushing ETH harder and harder for a long time, You clearly have a very large bag.. Was you silly and bought in at $1.3k+?  Undecided
I was even more silly and sold 1000's of ETH for $2-$5 but it is what it is! No amount of shilling by yourself on these sub-forums will bring eth back over $1k, It'l either happen or it wont (I personally believe it'll hit $5k before 2025)

Litecoin is not about the 'tech' behind it, More about the trust and widespread acceptance/usage, LTC was born over 10 years ago! ETH is not even 4 years old yet, ETH has proven it is NOT immutable (see ETC)
LTC is accepted as payment in millions of places alongside BTC, ETH is not accepted anywhere near on the scale of LTC/BTC and isn't as trusted as them either.

Personally, I see no justification for thinking that ethereum could hit $5K before 2025, do you have any basis to affirm this? And I agree with the fact that there are not enough reasons to be overly optimistic about the future of ethereum. New cryptocurrencies continually emerge that offer better alternatives to what at the time made ethereum an obligatory choice for investors, but even so I do not think Litecoin is more popular than ethereum at the moment, I would bet that ethereum has more daily transactions than litecoin, and there are many more exchange markets for ethereum than for litecoin, whose main advantage is to be one of the fastest and cheapest altcoins when making transactions, but not much more.

Re: Bitcoin will be junk/trash after ban in 2 big countries
by
Pagri
on 09/06/2019, 18:50:05 UTC
Bitcoin has been able to emerge and evolve without depending on a specific country, but with the support of a whole global network of users who have been in charge of placing bitcoin in its current position, so that the internal decisions that two countries make regarding bitcoin should not influence too much in the future of bitcoin, so we can remain calm in our future expectations of the market.

Worst crises have been faced in the bitcoin ecosystem that in one way or another have been overcome and have served to strengthen the bitcoin, so that very few effects I think can be suffered by the decisions of China and India, that in addition they will not necessarily be definitive and perhaps they will change with the passage of time.

Re: GPU mining
by
Pagri
on 08/06/2019, 20:28:29 UTC
Let me start with saying I love mining, I used to mine ETH back in 2017 with a 6x gtx 1060 rig... it was fun and profitable.

I was checking your post and I believe it is worth to mention about costs for those that don't have equipment yet and are thinking about invest some money in buying/building a mining computer or rig. Let me do a small exercise for ETH mining, using the same estimated value of $540 in a year.

GPU   1050Ti      1070Ti
Price USD
160.00
380.00
$/year
162.00
390.00
Profit
2.00
10.00

In that period, roughly covers the cost of the GPU, so profit should come over the second year; this is without considering the rest of the equipment cost: motherboard, power supply, CPU, etc.

Now, let's also consider, if instead of buying a GPU, one buys ETH directly right now, and again using the same estimated value in a year of $540 and current price of $250.

Investment USD   160.00      380.00
ETH
0.64
1.53
Future Value USD
345.60
826.2
Profit
185.60
446.20

So, just as a complement to your post, so everyone who does not have equipment put in consideration. Those who already have it, while not using it, put some hours a day to mine and get some coins.

That is the advantage of referring solely to mathematics. It is true that to venture into mining seems to have a certain prestige to those who wish to join fully in the crypto-universe, but if we leave aside the romanticism that implies being called "miner" and we focus only on the mundane matter of profitability, nothing seems more profitable in the medium term than buying coins instead of mining them, and this is especially true for those who have great confidence in the future of the market, but also for those who want to avoid excessive expenses and complications.

Re: Does bitcoin have FUNDAMENTALS?!?!

Regardless of whether you have guessed right based on real data or you have just played with the numbers in order to make us believe that you are a genius of analysis, I do not think that things work so easy in an open market, because if predicting a price would be like that of simple, we could all amass large amounts of money in an extremely easy and fast way, and you would not have to sell your predictions for $19.99 per month.  Grin
