Although this malware can evolve and affect other nationalities too, maybe it is a good idea that the OP adds a warning to the title of this topic, like "Coyote malware stealing banking and crypto information - Be careful, especially Brazilians", at least for now, and update it when necessary depending on how it evolves. What do you think Yaunfitda?

Re: The "Lottery Ticket" Mentality

I admit that I have that "Lottery Ticket" Mentality, but not only me: in my country the most typical sports bet is the "Quiniela", a multi bet that traditionally made you rich if you got the 15 results right ("Pleno al 15").

Nowadays with all these betting platforms online and betting machines available in most pubs, casinos and even dedicated stores, there is a growing trend towards single bets, especially among the youngest, but the tradition for the old Quiniela remains strong.

This is the last freebet I've won. Unfortunately, I lost it, although perhaps I risked too much with the odds:

I've been having a run of bad luck lately, but like everything, nothing is forever, and I hope it changes soon (I'll try not to be so greedy next time).

I’m still traveling though, might be a little late than everyone else with the translation work. Went on a trip to explore our capital Dhaka for a week.

Btw, my birthday is coming up, guys… do I get gifts this time? 🥹 It’s on the 2nd of August. Just saying... 😌🎂

Don't worry about the deadlines, DS, these dates are complicated for everyone and when better to be flexible than now?

About your birthday, believe me or not I I've had it on my agenda since last year Smiley

Re: Bitcoin mining using an Android phone
by
Porfirii
on 23/07/2025, 11:54:23 UTC
Dude, seriously, if you try such a thing, be ready to get a new phone. Mining bitcoin with a smartphone will first of all impact your battery life by draining and consuming your phone's energy, leading to your device getting spoilt.

No doubt, modern smartphones are more powerful than the first computer that was invented in the 1940s. But still, when it comes to Bitcoin mining, there are far more advanced and specialized computers for the job.

I'm sure you brought up this topic because phones are smaller computers, yes. But they have a limit to what they can handle.

I was thinking of a different reason why he would've to get a new phone, which has nothing to do with system requirements. Chances are that scammers offer these apps (especially in Android, which I don't use, so I don't really know) which promise convert your smartphone in a mining machine, like the OP said. If that's the case, I guess that they are simply looking for your data in reality, when it is not malware directly.

If something sounds too good to be true...

If you are betting with your life, might as well reconsider because that is something you can never take back no matter how much you regret it.

That would be a very rare and extreme case, at least in my country. One could think about the Russian roulette or games like that, on one hand, or borrowing money from some mafia and being killed for not paying it back, but these are cases that I fortunately only know from films basically.

In my case, losses were simply painful, but not too much. I had a bad experience when I was very young (a kid to be honest) and I learnt that I could never rely on gambling as a way of living because things can go wrong no matter what you do. So I've always taken calculated risks and yes, losing is always a bit painful, but not so much if you truly expect them like the most probable result.

I knew about this forum in a difficult moment in my life (I quitted my job and I was quite lost), and it turned out to be like an oasis in the desert. I rapidly understood the potential of Bitcoin, and although I had no money to invest, a few bounties and translations ended up being essential to get out of the rut in my personal finances and not miss the train of Bitcoin either -although many think that the train hasn't left yet.

I can never be grateful enough to Satoshi for 1. inventing Bitcoin and 2. creating this wonderful forum. Not as grateful as those who got rich because they jumped on the wandvagon earlier, perhaps, but still ^^

Re: Which is more regrettable?

Let's say when gambling, you follow a specific pattern. Let us use lottery for example. You bet on the same specific set of numbers. What would be more regrettable? Betting on the same set of numbers for the rest of your life and not winning or... changing up the set you bet on only for your old set to win?

Basically, would you rather bet on the same thing again and again then regret not exploring more or explore different kinds of bets then miss out on a win?

I have no doubt that I would prefer to always follow a specific pattern and never win, rather than changing the set once and see how it wins. But, although my father used to play always with the same set of "lucky" numbers (he never won) I prefer to choose random numbers instead, so there is nothing to regret because I have no special attachment to any set that could win and, therefore, no regret.

Re: How do you see slots game?

I recently hit a crazy multiplier x5601 on Sweet Bonanza. Just a small bonus buy and ended up winning $400 after the x1000 bomb dropped and hit. I’ve been enjoying it since then, though I don’t spend a lot of hours playing.

But ever since that win, it kinda feels like I’m slowly giving the money back. Been losing around $10 a day for the past week. I’m still in profit, but honestly, I’m starting to lose the excitement. The game doesn’t feel the same anymore.
I remember what got me almost addicted while in stake casino that time, i won alit of money at first and this gave me the impression that i will keep winning, and gradually i began to lise the money and before i know it i have lost everything including some of my own deposits, so for that is essential that you only gamble wirh amount you can afford to lose and still be ok and not depending on the winning to keep gambling otherwise you may likely slide into a very bad situation.

Chance is capricious and you can play only once or a few times and hit the jackpot, (the same as it can be your first time and get your girlfriend pregnant, anyway). But what is sure is that the more you play, the more likely you are to go back to the media, and the media in slots is negative.

That's why, when I win, I save it or spend it elsewhere, but I don't usually let victories change my gambling habits, like wagering larger amounts.

Re: MetaMask Card Transaction Process Failed
by
Porfirii
on 21/07/2025, 14:59:34 UTC
Did you get a reason why the transaction failed? I haven't used their debit card but the feerate may be too high for the amount you're trying to withdraw.

You should reach out to support for more help.

From https://metamask.io/en-GB/card:
When making a purchase, your MetaMask card instantly converts tokens into the local currency. These conversion rates are calculated at the time of the transaction. You will also be charged a minimal fee for each transaction.

I haven't used it either, in fact I think that this is the first time I've heard about that card (the metallic one looks cool Cool) so I'm not sure what's causing the problem, but what Upgrade00 makes a lot of sense. If they charge minimal fees for each transaction, it makes sense that $0.24 is under the minimum threshold they have set to be able to withdraw. But I can't find it anywhere in their website, either.

Please, post a screenshot as suggested so we can help you instead of speculating about the reasons, or reach out to support and let us know what was the reason, for future similar cases.

Mate, I want to let you know that we have rules and regulations here so you can't just jump in to make requests. Naija board is been represented by Hatchy and Chilwell so please don't cause any confusion.

@GazetaBitcoin and @Porfirii please let him know that he's not a member of the gang so to avoid waste of work, as regards to the translation I will be taken charge, and if am done I will inform the gang.

I think that Fiasem20 understood it perfectly, but I corroborate what Chilwell said.

If you are a native member of your local board and you consider that you have the necessary skills it is very positive that you want to help translating the topics you find useful; but once a topic has been proposed here it should be reserved initially for our main (or back-up) translators, primarily to avoid wasting energies in duplicated works, but also because of a reason of good faith.

There are many interesting topics worth sharing, anyway, apart from those proposed here, so it shouldn't be a big problem Smiley

Hello AOBT... Hope you all doing well..
I remember we had a proposal from user Trêvoid, about translating his service thread to our local boards, which we discussed and he said he would only be translating only the russian for now... Well unfortunately he had other intentions which included using AI to translate to my local board

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5551115.msg65605783#msg65605783

I went through it and it was a complete Ai work, this shows a bad image of him and he broke the forum rule 27.. I've reported his thread to my local moderator for deleting and I want to know what the AOBT gang says about this his actions... He might end up translating to other local languages as well..

That's very unfortunate Sad

zasad@ said that the deal with him was successful, but I'll stay vigilant, in case the same happens in my local board too. Are you sure it was a complete AI work?

OP, this is not the ultimate solution against future threats because of quantum computing, but you should read d5000's guide: Fees are low? Make your coins more private and (almost) quantum safe!.

I think that the author explains some very easy and good practices that can prevent you from unwanted surprises in the future and everyone should know. It is also available in more than 10 languages for better understanding of those who are not native English speakers here.

Although we've talked before about this notifiers several times in the forum (I see that you've added some links in the bottom of your OP, thank you for that) the fact is that I think that it never hurts to remember that these tools exist, especially in Beginners & Help, so that newbies can use it too.

Re: How is wealth distributed through Gambling
by
Porfirii
on 20/07/2025, 11:23:27 UTC
Both the rich and the poor give their money to the casino owners because they both gamble. Not only the poor gamble. And yeah, I can agree that wealth is transferred from the money gathered from gamblers to the casino owners but in the case of casino giving wealth to the poor I dont think that happens at all. Money gotten from taxes are not distributed accordingly.

Good point, as it seems that we're talking in this thread as if casino owners were the only rich in the world.

I don't know the real numbers, and my intuition tells me that the long tail of small gamblers adds up to more than what the rich gamble (although I may be wrong), but in any case the rich also gambles and losses a lot of money that is redistributed and should be taken into account in this conversation.

This is a wonderful post worth sharing in our local boards, and it is quite short too, so it shouldn't take us much work.
