Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin?

-snip-

If you have any success stories you would like to share, I would be very grateful if I could benefit from them as well...

Well, we've just hit a new ATH, and it is totally reasonable to doubt whether it is a good moment to invest. The short answer is that nobody knows what will happen tomorrow or in 10 years with the price, so it doesn't maje much sense to ask whether this is the right time to invest or not.

If you think that Bitcoin has great potential and that a great future still awaits, then it is always a good time to invest. Many people before you invested after new ATHs and, if they didn't sell, they will be in profit today (we can now affirm that no investor lost money if they hodled until today).

Re: Gambling ads become part of daily life

Almost every sports including football's dominated by gambling ads. Casino ads are affecting ppl. Kids see it every where it isn't healthy. Billboard ads tv ads & online ads are every where. How's gambling affected you & ppl you know ?

That is very alarming for our kids and their future.
I know gambling should be control and us parents to guide our kids. But seeing ads on TV and sports is not good.
Well they earn on it that is why we can't stop them. Even in NBA now yoiu can see odds on ads.

In my country there are some new laws which have banned gambling ads before 1AM on radio and TV, and more recently they're also prohibiting influencers with certain requirements (I can't remember now but those who have over certain amount of followers or a part of their target are children) advertising casinos or sportsbooks.

I don't think this is very common in other countries, but who knows how the future will turn out. Maybe this measures will become increasingly common.

In my case, I have calculated limits for gambling, like Charles-Tim, instead of loses. I mean, I spend a certain amount, no matter if I win or lose. I personally prefer it rather than thinkin: if I lose x amount, I quit for today/this week.

swogerino, these amounts you mentioned are insane! I intuitively believe that, unless you're rich, one shouldn't spend more in gambling than what he spends in eating. Of course, we are free to do what we want with our spare money, but these amounts seem too much for the average Joe.

Bienvenido imprenta0nline. ¿Podrías explicar cómo lo has calculado?

Re: Saving is not enough
by

Earning money is hard, saving money is damn hard, getting rich and being able to live comfortably is insane.

For me saving just for short term, you can't earn anything and your wealth will decrease over time. People have to take big risk if they want to be rich, if they only take some risk or little risk, it's not enough.

What does big risk mean? it's a risk where you can lost all of the money you invest e.g. start a business, invest in new thing etc.

So you are saying that, in order to be rich, a requisite is that you have to be mentally ill somehow (who in their right mind would take such risks?). Don't get me wrong: I agree with you that it makes some sense.

On the other hand, those who only save will see how their savings will lose purchasing power over time due to inflation, but it shouldn't be a reason for discouragement and waste, as it's the right step to start improving.

Re: Time in the market vs timing the market
by
Porfirii
on 21/05/2025, 17:49:27 UTC
This topic reminds me of my first days in crypto, when I decided that it was a good idea to daytrade. It was frustrating to see how the prices spiked after selling, feeling the FOMO, and then, after a relatively long bullish trend, see how a sharp dip evaporated in just a few hours the profits earned in months.

Fluctuations in crypto are usually unpredictable, and analyzing the market requires a big effort in time and attention that doesn't usually pay off. So I agree that it's much better to hodl: if everything goes wrong eventually, at least you only lose money.

Re: What is the best way to gamble?
by
Porfirii
on 21/05/2025, 17:36:26 UTC

People say that life is all about taking risks, people are being motivated by this statement forgetting about the consequences of their actions. A gambler is someone that has accepted the outcome of this risks that he is taking. A true gambler that learns from his mistakes becomes more careful when gambling because he knows the implications and downsides that comes with it when things go wrong
Not everyone sees life as a risk. There are cautious people who avoid risks by any means and I believe it is possible to do so if one truly wants to. If such people decide to play gambling games I think their approach would also be built around avoiding risks and this would be the safest way to engage in activities involving money risks. And for those who believe that risk is a natural part of life they will take risks in everything.

In the very definition of risk, and in every theory surrounding risk management, we find two basic components: probability and impact. Taking measured risks is still a good option for people who prefers to be careful: they will go for low probability and low impact.

And I would say more: even a high probability but a small impact is also a good option for these people, like lotteries and other cheap games with very big jackpots which are almost impossible to win, because even with an extremely high probability of losing, the impact is ridiculously low in personal finances.

In the end, I think that the key is in the balance.

Re: Countries that gamble the most

Normally the countries that gamble the most according to google is in the picture below that I am posting here for convenience, -snip-

It surprises me that relatively small countries are in the top 10, which means that not only economic power is a factor, but also something strongly cultural.

Being a Spaniard myself seeing my country there doesn't shock me especially, because I know that we have a great tradition of gambling although there are not many famous casinos in here (EuroVegas project failed before even starting), so I think that for many people it can be counterintuitive. Just like a few more in that list, but the most obvious ones are also there, so it must be right.

Re: Beginner in mining
by
Porfirii
on 20/05/2025, 18:59:09 UTC
Hello all,

I'm looking for information about crypto mining. I am located in France. I have the advantage of paying 0.0051/kWh, so I think it could be profitable. I've started looking into it, and I think an ASICS would be worthwhile. I have a budget of around €3,000, knowing that I would need to purchase a soundproofing enclosure since the installation would be in my basement. I already have three-phase power. Can you advise me if this is a good idea? If so, which ASICS model should I buy + a soundproofing enclosure, and on which website?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

First of all, welcome to the forum Tykilito.

I don't now much about mining, unfortunately, and I'm almost sure that mining is not profitable, at least if you talk about Bitcoin. We have a whole dedicated mining board to talk about mining Bitcoin here, where you can learn and ask.

If you are asking for altcoins instead, it can make some sense although most of them are extremely volatile. We have another dedicated board for mining altcoins too, so take a look there.

I hope it helps!

So as a football lover how is your season break like? What do you do to support your craving for football or do you just find another sport or entertainment to cope with during this time?

I know several people that have a hard time because La Liga ends and they don't have interesting matches from their favourite teams to see in Summer, but I personally give thanks for the break. I genuinely think that having a few months which are different and let me disconnect from football fever is healthy for my mental well-being, but I understand that not everyone thinks like that and that some people prefer and even need the routine in their lives.

Re: Has Anyone Tried This Red-Black Roulette Pattern Strategy?
by
Porfirii
on 20/05/2025, 18:50:55 UTC
The fundamentals of this strategy are well known and have been discussed already several times in this forum in previous threads. And even if you mention AI as a novelty, in fact, there is no need for any complex AI to check that strategy: a simple calculator online will do the work.

I think that you have more chances of winning if you simply go all-in to the red or black, than if you follow any strategy like the one described. Of course, exceptions exist, but nobody should trust in systems like these to make guaranteed money: they simply don't exist.

Porf, please be aware that the PID translation made by SatoPrincess was also updated.
Also, Porf, did you PM the non-AOBT translators about this...? In this moment only N.O remains should be PMed...

Yes, I did, in fact SatoPrincess answered a few days ago that she would update it soon, thanks for the heads-up. Let's see if N.O does the same...

This thread has 2 translations, thus 8 more are needed. The available languages are: [GER] [POL] [ROM] [RUS] [FRE] [ARA] [IDN] [SPA] [TUR] [FIL] [PID] [BAN] [URD] [HIN]. Therefore, this should be in the attention of cygan, zasad@ / DrBeer, paid2, khaled0111 / Zwei, Husna QA / dansus, Porf, mindrust / mela65, Peanutswar, DS, Adiljutt156, M47AK16 and myself.

As the author of this topic is native Spanish I asked him whether he preferred to translate it himself, and agreed. I will remind it to him if he doesn't take the time to do it and I will translate it myself in that case, but I think that an original translation in this case would be preferable.

Apart from all this, Porf, can you take a look, please, at the image links for mindrust and zasad@? Their images in OP are broken...

Perhaps a one-off glitch? I see the images well.

Re: What is the best advise to give to a poor person to be rich?
by
Porfirii
on 19/05/2025, 19:02:53 UTC
Suggestions should be given based on the category of the poor . There will be no benefit in giving suggestions about Bitcoin or Crypto Currency to those who are poor and illiterate. An illiterate poor person will never have any idea about trading or investment. So illiterate people should be given suggestions about things that are suitable for them. They should acquire some skills through which an illiterate poor person can earn a living. However, those who are not able to arrange jobs due to being educated and unemployed can benefit from some ideas about trading or investing. However, it is not possible to solve their permanent problems by trading or investing alone. To solve permanent problems, they must be involved in some physical business. If I feel the need to give suggestions to the educated unemployed, I would definitely suggest that they give importance to business, especially physical business.

You make a very good point. What I see is people giving advice to others on how to get out of poverty without knowing why they are poor. This does not bring any benefit but only wastes time, because there are many reasons why someone is poor and to give useful advice, we need to know the category of poor they belong to. As you said, we cannot give investment and business advice to illiterate people or give redundant advice like find a job, work hard...to highly educated people.

I really can’t offer any advice because I don’t know which category of poor people the OP is referring to, and I’m genuinely surprised that others can so easily give advice.

OP, what poor groups are you talking about?

After reading the OP I was thinking something like that. Because we are used to talk to people who, at least, know reading and writing, and have a modern device with Internet connection, but it's saying much in a world where there are still millions of people who lack all this.

I recently saw a documentary on the people in developing countries (what a euphemism) who wake up early in the morning and make a living from garbage. With zero options to improve economically, what advice would be good for them?

I don't follow any pattern, although I know a few people who try to guess it (I'm not sure about their success in doing it, although I doubt it).

What I do is simply allocate a preset amount of money (not too high), calculate the number of spins I can make with it, and stick to that number of spins. If I end with more money than I started, better for me. If not, nothing happened, as I made my mind to lose that initial money anyway, and I spend the remaining in some other entertainment.

Re: Gambling in Pop Culture
by
Porfirii
on 19/05/2025, 18:51:00 UTC
It has been mentioned before but let me say that I remember watching to Casino Royale in the cinema (too many) years ago when I didn't know the rules and thinking: woah! this game is super interesting. I think that this is the time I was most impacted by a movie in terms of gambling. There have been others, like a few ones where the protagonists win the lottery and their lives change (normally to worse), and others where gambling appeared somehow but was secondary. But in the case of 007, the glamour surrounding the game really made a difference.

BTW, the title of this thread refers to Pop Culture but the OP asks about movies. Won't we talk about other disciplines, like music, or paintings? The latter reminded me of these famous paintings, but they are too old to be considered Pop.

Surry guys I forget to announce here I have completed translation into Urdu Local board.

Meanwhile, I'd like to mention that I also updated the Romanian translation of Pizza Day topic Smiley

Added Adiljutt156's link, and updated Gazeta's.

However, Dansus' thread was originally for the previous year's contest. If he had edited it before the Taufik translation thread was published, it might not have been much of an issue. Since he made the edits after that, coordination between the original posters (OPs) on the same translation topic is necessary.

This is also true... Oh well, let's wait for a resolution from them about this matter.

dansus021, please, let us know the final verdict on this matter.

Dear AoBTers: although there is still plenty of time for the pizza contest, I'd like to remember that the sooner we update and bump our threads the better for the members in our local boards who want to participate. Keep up the good work!
