Will you guys be partaking in masternodes or staking?

No.

Solo has a goal of eliminating the economic incentives that lead to network centralization. Masternodes and/or staking make sense for some projects, but are not in line with this project's goals.

the eyecatcher for me was" poolresistant cryptocurrency" , though , a few more info in OP?

as i see , not very attractive for newbies but you have my attention

Yes it also means the competition would be high against powerful CPU.

We need more than luck to hit a block with a normal i5 CPU Cheesy I am mining using i5 in the last 12 hours but no Luck Cheesy i decided to stop. burning my CPU is not worth it Cheesy

Not sure how old your i5 is and how many cores it has, but my 2 year old laptop with a dual core i7 gets ~1.9kH/s, with the network at ~700kH/s that is enough for about 4 blocks a day.

solo-blockchain-import
blocked by avast

not sure what would cause that but you can sync the whole blockchain in solod without bootstrapping.

its an executable, after you have solod running you can open solo-wallet-cli.exe. Only a command line wallet available at this time, visual/web/mobile wallets are on the near term road map.
after daemon sync,wallet-cli dont open(((

ask in the discord, someone will help you troubleshoot. Discord: https://discord.gg/K62KCcm

Very little information about the coin and the team . Perhaps this is something very promising, but the team keeps everything secret .

Hi everyone,

CEO of Bitspark here, George Harrap. I've been keeping an eye on Gridcoin and we recently had it in our coinvoting round, unfortunately we didn't see much traction from the community on our voting for Gridcoin but I am interested to support the growth of GRC. We will be unveiling some pretty awesome updates in the next few weeks (keep an eye on your favourite crypto news outlet) and I'd be interested to list GRC on the exchange at some stage, including direct convertibility to fiat and accessible in a number of languages we are rolling out plus some goodies we are working on. We want to support crypto projects that can change the world for the better and Gridcoin looks like a step in the right direction.

Looking to gauge the community interest in this Smiley.

I think the lack of response was more to do with awareness than enthusiasm!!!  Very interested in a mutually beneficial relationship.  Most action takes place on our official forum https://cryptocointalk.com/forum/464-gridcoin-grc/.  I'll keep an eye peeled for more information and added you on my Twitter.

due to lots of new versions the last days.
last weeks  Grin

BTW: what about the boinc points that have been credited to the users last time? Are they lost and people will get the coins only for the last day or the wallets will recognise that one's points have never been changed to coins?
Alicea you have a lot of questions that can probably be answered by reading the wiki:

wiki.gridcoin.us

Most of the discussion takes place at https://cryptocointalk.com/forum/464-gridcoin-grc/
There are many knowledgeable and helpful team members who read and post information their daily.

Documentation is a weakness that we are addressing, currently the wiki is the most up to date and complete single source about everything Gridcoin, both the Classic wallet in retirement and the new Research wallet.  A white paper is being worked on and the website will be updated soon.

As for your question about credits I think these FAQ's might answer:

TY, all for help!
So i converted most of my GRC into PoR GRC, started my BOINC with couple of projects (Asteroids, WCG, rosetta and LHC) and left it for the night. Now, after all GRC converted and BOINC running i have next picture in wallet :
http://i.imgur.com/iLEaMEW.png
and BOINC:
http://i.imgur.com/NwATAJZ.png

Is everything correct? What means that status "All CPU projects are exhausted"? How to check do i mining or not? TY!

Check to make sure the email in your .conf file matches your BOINC email EXACTLY.  One of two things is happening, you haven't had enough BOINC credits to populate yet (takes a day or two if its a new account) or the email address isn't correct.  Let us know what you find.

Is there any Exchange for Gridcoin 2 ? Why isn't it again on Bittrex?

What is the progress here?

Classic gridcoin will most likely retire by the end of this week. Polo, C-cex and Swisscex will al stop trading Gridcoin classic by then. The ticker will change to GRCX.
These exchanges will all add Gridcoinresearch as soon as the client is stable enough to be released to them. Right now Rob is still working on a few tweaks, latest estimate I have seen is Friday. Obviously the client has to be absolutely stable to be released.
When this happens we can start tweeting Bittrex some more and launch a campaign to get us added. I have been tweeting them regularly over the last weeks just to get our name to stick.

Thanks ! Do I need to move my coins to burn or can I let them there and they get exchanged automatically?

It is probably best to burn the coins yourself.  There has been no official statement that the exchanges will do it for you.  It is very easy:

Assuming you have already downloaded and installed the new wallet: http://download.gridcoin.us/download/downloadstake/GridcoinResearch.msi

First update your wallet to the newest version:
you can choose to upgrade using the upgrade option in the wallet or by installing a fresh version, windows MSI Here: http://download.gridcoin.us/download/gridcoin.msi

Second, withdraw your coins from Polo or c-cex to your upgraded wallet

Third go to this page and follow the instructions: http://pool.gridcoin.us/CoinExchange.aspx

Also if you would like to catch up on everything the wiki's are starting to get populated nicely and have a lot of in depth information that is easy to read all in one place:

Just make sure you can get above RAC 100 on all of them. I have several rigs and I run about 5 projects per rig.

Can I join all of these projects?
And all of them will be rewarded?
http://coinwik.org/Current_BOINC_Whitelist

I have from 3 to 6 projects connected on different rigs.
And yes I know that i need RAC more than 100, but when I look on this site http://www.gridcoin.us/Guides/BOINC/whitelist.htm
there is few projects with Less work than active hosts' projects. So now I don't know If I can connect to them or not.
So now, where is the truth?

The website is slightly out of date.  The wiki is most up to date.  If you want information directly from the source open the debug window and enter the command "listitem projects" and it will give you the white list of projects approved for Gridcoin.  Also, less work than active hosts means the BOINC project doesn't have enough work to go around.  It is a good idea to add a few projects you want to contribute to, the new magnitude calculation takes the guess work out of choosing which project to contribute to because it is you average contribution across all projects for the entire Gridcoin team.  Just pick a few on the whitelist you like, make sure you have work in your boinc manager and you are working for science, getting rewarded in Gridcoin.

For POR you need coins in your account that are "staked". This is not like POW where you find blocks with actual hashing!! Do you understand that? You either need to convert old GRC classic to new POR GRC or you have to wait till the around the 20th of October when the POR GRC starts trading on the exchanges and get some POR GRC  so you can start staking in your wallet!! IF you have no coins right now in your POR wallet you will not receive anything!! You need to have coins in your POR wallet!!

This wasn't clear to me as well. The wallet says "boinc mining" and it's not true.
My wallet says "not mining" and it's not true neither...

Also it's a pity I have compiled, installed, worked on it and boinc-end and I'll not get anything for days, cause I need to have stake power for a coin which currently I can't buy.
Not everybody's been following the coin for months.
I've gotten in a couple weeks ago and read a lot of docs, but I didn't notice that for POR I need POS, and it seems I'm not the only one.
What?? We need PoS for PoR?? It's a joke or I havn't understood? We must buy the coins first to earn them later for scientific computations we do with our hardware and our electricity? The difference between PoS and PoR was clear but now it's not.

There are two block chains.  Gridcoin-Classic and Gridcoin-Research.  Both are currently live and will run side by side for the next 6 months.  It may be helpful for you to read the wiki:

http://wiki.gridcoin.us

Be sure to click through and read the sub pages paying special attention to the Proof-of-Research, Events and the FAQ.  It is still a work in progress but that is currently the best resource for up to date information regarding Gridcoin right now.

The dev Rob, does not really post much on bitcointalk, you should probably head over to cryptocointalk!

Who is the dev?

My opinion is that the problem starts when there's PoR and scrypt PoW running in the same time. I think that a better idea would be to have pure PoR or PoS/PoR, because it's safer. Maybe instead of repairing blockchain every day (or twice a day), it would be better to finish PoW and switch to pure PoR (or rather PoR/PoS) now? And I wonder if the PoR block minting is a good idea (let's compare it to curecoin, where the research makes no blocks but a normal trasfer hashed by asics, here it should be hashed by PoS). By this ocasion the reward algorithm could be improved: no halvings, but more proportional amount of coins to the amount of points in long term.

We spent almost 4 months discussing, voting as a community, and testing the Proof-of-Research wallet.  Most of the information about testing and discussion is contained in these threads:
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/13792-testers-wanted-gridcoinstake/
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/16940-proof-of-research-and-economic-variables/
and starting about page 270:
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1331-new-coin-launch-announcement-grc-gridcoin/

In all there are well over 150 pages of in depth discussion that lead to the current launch of Proof-of-Research.

The new wallet is pure Proof-of-Research plus Stake now.  Only the wallet in retirement uses scrypt Proof-of-Work and the community decided that 6 months was a sufficient amount of time to convert the Classic coins to the new Research coins.  For the next 6 months there will be 2 wallets, the Classic wallet that runs on Proof-of-Work with a reduced reward and the Research wallet that runs on Proof-of-Research plus Stake.  For the most up to date information visit the wiki at:

Ebola is topical subject, EMC2 is considering making a public donation, we need to know if you are willing to join our campaign as a strategic partner if we carry it forward?

what is EMC2? sorry but i don't know...

edit: just to add this-->

have you seen this link? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=791247.new#new

gridcoin is without doubt a cause coin...

Thanks for sharing that asdlolciterquit that is the first time I've seen that.  I think there are some other coins with goals that align with Gridcoin very well.

EMC2 = Einsteinium
It is a scrypt PoW where 2% of every block goes to their foundation in perpetuity, proceeds are divided between coin maintenance/promotion and donating directly to scientific projects.  I remember when it was launched last spring, there was a lot of hype around the coin then all the anon coins and asic resistant algorithms came into vogue and people moved on.  I believe they have actually made a donation or two from the foundation but I would have to check on that.

This is exactly the type of thing we will be able to contribute to once the GRC foundation is in place and funded.  Unfortunately the timing isn't the best as most active community members are focused on a smooth transition to our new blockchain and there isn't an official foundation in place yet to handle the  collection and dispersion of funds.  I will mention this in a post on the CCT forum to see if there is anyone who can help out.  Even if we don't currently have the resources as a community I am open to a cross post to assist in promotion of the campaign, thank you for reaching out.
