Does bitcoin control the market?
by
Rainbow009
on 17/09/2018, 12:34:18 UTC
Most people believe that the price of altcoins' is determined by the price of bitcoin and that they tend to follow it's market movements.

I partially disagree with this. I have studied prices of coins and tokens on CMC and the fluctuations of each currency seems to be unique and independent of any other digital currency. Some show strong pumps when BTC goes down and some heavy dumps when BTC is rising.

Undoubtedly, there are market forces and factors which affects most currencies, this is not influenced by bitcoins price, it rather controls bitcoins' price as well as others.
So when trading or investing, make sure you treat each currency differently as they have different utilities.

Trading require a lot of skill and patience.
Trading is just a means of taking money from the impatient and giving it to the patient as a seasoned trader once said.

Re: Can Holding Bitcoin affect the stocks

Regardless if the currency is stored in your wallet or on an exchange for active trading it is reflected on the overall volume displayed on CMC.
But the volume on different exchanges would be low, of most Hodl. This is not always a good thing, especially with new altcoins as no volume means no growth.
But, BTC us an established currency and such reduction in supply would lead to growth, possibly.

Re: How Do you Handle a Downtrend as a day trader?
by

As a trader always k own how to explore you options, for quick flipping, you need a currency with wide fluctuations.
When the market is all down, you can switch to arbitrage trading and make profits from discrepancies in prices of an asset on various exchanges.

When assessing any prospect, it's best to consider all possibilities, gains and losses.
While high risk can potentially give high rewards, it can also incur huge losses and bring you out of the game early

All your funds in one alt is not advisable. Regardless the potential you see in it, this space is too risky and unpredictable to go all in on one project.
It could of course work out good, of its a good project.

Re: Why is Dropping the Ethereum price?

Different factors influences the price of digital currencies, and the volatility means that such pumps and dumps are natural with cryptocurrencies.
A huge drop doesn't mean a dead currency, it means you should buy more.

The blockchain technology provides a fast, cheap, secure, decentralized and transparent means of transferring funds.
In NY opinion it is more efficient than bank transactions and would most likely be adopted by the banking sector in the near future.

Re: How safe is Bitcoin? ✅

Majority of exchanges and wallets have developed a system that is impervious to hacks.
The safety of your assets is mostly the priority of the holder.
- Protect you private keys.
- Don't keep your assets in a trading exchange when not actively trading
- Avoid opening authorized links and phishing links.

Re: The best time to invest in Ethereum has come again!
by

It's best to invest when everyone is trying to sell, and Hodl till FOMO sets is and everyone is trying to buy.
The market is down now, and Ethereum stands below$200, this is surely the best time to buy.
And don't wait for more dumps as the market is highly unpredictable.

Re: Optimistic Attitude

I like to take a practical approach to the cryptocurrency market, rather than an optimistic one.
Not all currencies would survive this current bearish trend, so traders need to practise on ways to force profit from the market.
And investors should switch their holdings to more stable currencies preferably top 50 on CMC.

Re: All alt coin become shit coins.

Traders most times switch gheur holdings when it's dropping massively to the more stable currencies (in this case bitcoin). This causes a more steep drop in the value of those altcoins, this doesn't make them shitcoins and those with a good product, and a committed tram would likely recover.

The media has a massive effect on the price of cryptocurrencies, as people react to major news and announcements.
A positive or a negative news would cause a similar reaction in the market.

Re: how long will everyone can wait?

Since january we all experience the red down lines
everyone experience this how long can you still hold your coins
and still hope for the best , are we waiting for another 3 years to reach the top
or we are now heading back to upward lines

The market has not been red for the whole of the year. Except you're comparing it with the boom of 2017. This is the new reality of cryptocurrency for now.
And we have had some growth in some parts of the year and depending on when you bought, one could have made profit from the market this year.

You made a good choice buying then and the price was fairly low.
It is not always advisable to wait for further dips as cryptocurrencies are very unpredictable.
Hopefully, the massive sell offs end soon and we can have some growth.

This one of the largest drop we have have experienced in a while, with almost always cryptocurrencies dropping 70-80%.
We have had previous huge dips, as BTC has lost around 87% of its value and still recovered. So hopefully we would also recover from this dump.

Trading and mining are the ways of earning assets constantly.
You can also lose in trading and mining takes a lot of capital.
The other ways of earning are very inconsistent.
