What can you say about Prince  Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia's  statement that bitcoin will collapse like Enron? Do you guys think that it will a significant value on the prices?

maybe it's just a rumor. I do not see news of what you say. but if true, I do not care what he says. bitcoin has been tried by some countries. so I never felt worried
.

https://www.coindesk.com/saudi-prince-al-waleed-bitcoin-going-implode/

Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal sharply criticized bitcoin during an appearance on CNBC today, saying that he agrees with JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon's assessment that the cryptocurrency is a "fraud."

But do not need to worry.

I don't understand why people say the Eth price will crash due to higher hashrate and diffuclty.

If ETHs are difficult to get (to mine), won't their price grow up ?

I agree with that. When more people mine it, the price will go higher.

The worst thing is, in the event of a hard fork, during all the turmoil it will cause, many will exchange their BTC for fiat. The market cap could drop substantially.

I will not change into fiat. I will change into other good altcoins such as Ethereum or ZCash.

Re: Is Holding Bitcoin a long time good way to make money?

Right now bitcoin price increase is getting continued for a long time. This gives every user an added profit. Bitcoin grows gradually, which describes that holding doesn't have any specific time. Everytime holding is effective.

Yeah for this time i think holding bitcoin is very good because there is some people predict that for this year bitcoin will halving.

As long as the price rises in the long term, it is better to hold. If you hold since 2012, your wealth has increased many times.

I think and believe, for the time being the best and most profitable way is buying and hold bitcoin. Based on my experience for almost 1 year, I've been able to profit more than 3 times or 300% just by buying and hold bitcoin until now.

Buying and holding the bitcoin is a good strategy. If you bought some bitcoin in early 2013, you might be rich.

Holding bitcoin long is a very good way to make passive money but it is not fast at all you need patience and your money is stuck for that time being.
So if you don't need the money right away do it and laugh while you profit from the value increase

That is right. If you hold the bitcoin since 2010, you might be a millionaire now if you bought some then.

Re: When is Bitcoins going to die?
by

on 19/09/2016, 07:53:23 UTC
I don't know if it will die, but a lot of bitcoins will eventually disappear. Already there are probaly a couple of million locked in wallets that passwords have been lost, and will never see the light of day again. Also, probably some people drop dead without leaving next of kin info about their bitcoins. I wonder how many bitcoins will be out of the system forever by the time all 21 million are mined?
People or member here who are saying that bitcoin is dead its just an competitors they are just an altcoin that can attract people to convert to altcoin instead of staying in bitcoin..

I remember that people said the bitcoin was dead, but it is still very healthy. That could be applied to litecoin as well.

It wouldn't be done because that would actually break the "immutability", all the transactions would be rolled back. DAO case was a special case with ETH locked away for 1 month.
@dinofelis you're not worth reading, sorry for your effort.

Yes. The DAO was treated as a special case. Now the other start ups could ask the same question. What made the DAO a special case? How can the others be treated in the same why? It is not fair. Vitalik started a problem that he cannot fix. The only fix for it is for him to step down and disband the Ethereum Foundation.

That will not fix anything. ETH can't just give up after all, its still one of the most used token up to now. ETH had allready overcome all attacks including that etc which turned just hype and will soon shutdown. ETH price is still better than what are xpected to rise. Once the bugs are fixed, expct to earn profit.

It is the most used token? I thought it is bitcoin. I see a lot of transaction in ETH but bitcoin is really nonstop. Yes it is popular and some analyst thinks it can have a big blast over time. Just dont know where that blast will go. Upward or downward.

In terms of usage as a currency, I think the bitcoin is most widely used. In terms of smart contract, Etheruem is most used.

bitcoin will never die

It might. It will. But I dont think we are still alive when that happens. Maybe we will die first before bitcoin comes to an end. So better make money out of it while we are still here.
Bitcoin may live forever, it might be immortal or one day it will meet its end but one thing for sure it’s going to take a long long time before that ever happens. Therefore, keeping faith in bitcoin and earning as much as we can from it is a clever way.

Yup bitcoin is still in its early stage and it will never die or disappear, in fact it will be more stronger and powerful currency in future so I think there is nothing to worry.

That is right. I think the bitcoin will learn the good points of other altcoins and develop further. So it will live long term.

If you miss the ETH train, you might invest in the ETC. But you have to exit before the DAO attacker attack again.
This. Just this.

If the DAO hacker is part of the ETC promoter, then he might dump his ETC, but other big holders could dump/

Its gotta be the same guy. Who else would it be?

Some bitcoiners who invested in the bitcoin before. Some comments:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4va2y8/is_barry_silbert_deliberately_trying_to_deceive/?st=ir91nrb8&sh=4408d5f4

These guys are quite wise, they sold the bitcoin before the hack and pump the ETC. It is quite suspicious.

I hope the DAO hacker and the Bitfinex hacker are not related. Bitfinex has reported to law enforcement. We might find out later.

It does not matter if they are related or not. The DAO hacker will not make much profit when the ETC collapses.

IMO I think it will die not because of the users, but probably if the miners forfeit mining.

You realize that mining difficulty will adjust downwards if many miners stopped mining, resulting in the remaining miners starting to profit again.

Even when there are no more block rewards there will always be mining as long as users keep making transactions with non-zero transaction fees.

So far, after the halving, there is no noticeable difficulty drop. It means the S9 is replacing old miners.

I think for the small investors like me, it is better to sit on the side lines. Only big whales can make money.

The price turns very fast. A day or two ago, there were many trolls about the Ethereum. After the price rise, most of them disappeared.
Yes the Spoetniktards BTC goon shills usually drop off the radar anytime ETH is doing well. Which is more reason to invest in ETH and keep these here forums clean of their tardshite.

The bitcoin price dropped over 10% today, so we shall see less of him in the Ethereum threads? Ethereum is still young.

That is right. The Etheruem is still young. It is still growing. Its situation is similar to the bitcoin in 2010.

But some people are inpatient about the slow progress of the Ethereum and some people want it destroyed.

There are a few trolls from the bitcoin and the Monero community to say many bad things about the Eth.

Well, if bitcoin fades into insignificance, it is as good as death.
Given the potential that Bitcoin has, I would say that any alt overtaking it in terms of market cap would spell the end.

No way an alt coin would take over BTC but it could just die in price when it isn't useful to the community anymore, that's the day when we really just get tired of btc and dont need the coin for any reason.

I dont think BTC will die out for a long period of time.

Bitcoin can never die till it holds a great value people will continue to use it, may be price can go down in future but it will always shows its presence.

Bitcoin can die if people will not use it, if there will be hard fork which can destabilize the network and the price itself. Also the quantum computers can destroy bitcoin if are shown in a short period of time, by this bitcoin is only safe for at least one or two decades from now by these kind of computers.

We need to promote the bitcoin and persuade more people to use it. the more people use it, the higher the price.

Holding your Bitcoin is just a nice way to save your money if you want to make money you have to sell it on the right moment and it is hard to make the right choice.
And patience is also important because it will be bad if you are selling it too early when you cant get profit of it.
Patience is important, but the bad thing is that you won't know if the price will rise or fall later on.
Holding is just a safe way to earn some money, but there must a time for you that you have to hold it if you want to earn some money with it and that is risky of course.
But without risks you cant earn money with it and waiting will be now the best option because it is now rising and that is perfect.

I will hold for the long term. When 1% of the world population use the bitcoin, the price will be much higher.

There is will time where price of ethereum going down and if it happen that is time for buy ethereum and hold. Don't missed for second time again.

I am doing some range trading at the moment. If it drops below 0.019, I will buy, if it is higher than 0.023, I will sell.

At this altcoin market stage - altcoins can not give profit in short time period. Because altcoin market is not stable in short & medium time, with more and more new altcoins.  Wink

Yeah there are so many alt coins that is being created every week so its really hard to tell weather they can last for months or not.

I only trade the altcoins which are at least 2 month old. Most of the new coins are scam coins. It is better  to avoid.

Re: Don't Deposit on Cryptsy ! You wont be able to withdraw !

on 08/04/2016, 09:51:53 UTC
The Cryptsy is dead now. It lost many customer's money. It was hacked in 2014 but did not tell its customers.
i didn't use cryptsy since few months ago and recently know cryptsy got hacked several days ago but they should be honest with their circumstances because so many users can't withdraw their balance and be harmed in this exchange

I'm not using it since a year ago since their verification process quite complicated
Never thought that this can happen since last year, they are the best exchanger on that time

I think the verificaiton process is just to deter the user from withdrawing the money out of their exchange.

I was not deterred by the verification process and withdraw all my coins out of the Crptsy. What a relief?
