384Mhash for ~$2100.

10 months to break even at 6000 difficulty $.10 power
25+ to break even at 12k diff and $.10 power.
(according to Coin Warz calculator)

I'm sure your numbers are right. But I think you are assuming there will be no virtuous cycle provided by a more secure blockchain. A Chinese company committed time and people and money to design, tapeout, manufacture, characterize, and bring into production an IC that is dedicated to mining X11 secured blockchains. This is capital intensive work. This is not rolleyes. This is a vote of confidence in the future of DASH.

my eyeroll was really more for the fact that X11 is supposed to be ASIC resistant. If the algo is changed to defeat the ASICS then the above hardware is a waste of money for X11 miners and nothing more than yet another attempted cash grab by some Chinese company trying to take advantage of a situation.

Awesome sauce! Disappoint you do not.

I think you'd better wait for the market to disappoint or otherwise. I can only report observations.   Wink

If you like charts, get the popcorn out and start munching to this lot from Mike Maloney.

So Toknormal, what's your take on what Maloney is saying? Clearly he believes something major is getting ready to happen but he doesn't know what it is nor does he suggest what anyone should do. Is this that sign to pull everything out of financial institutions (banks, stocks, etc) and hold precious metal or, in our case, hold Dash and/or Bitcoin?

So can I just suggest the Dash dev team's motto? It's right there on the wall in the pic: GET SHIT DONE

And if I also may suggest the ongoing Trollero dev teams motto which is an expansion of the Dash team motto: troll Dash while they GET SHIT DONE.

PS Where's the GUI wallet?  Kiss

I just do not get a good feeling of trust for this guy and I have a very hard time buying-in to what he's saying. The whole fact that his solution is to reward the spender that pays more regardless of order does not sit well with me. How exactly is that supposed to prove or guarantee that the transaction is the true, legitimate transaction and not the nefarious double-spend? It can't.

The DAPI is going to be required for this DarkWallet web interface to be able to access your wallet and therefore initiate a Dash transaction to the blockchain, correct? Or is there currently a means of doing this that I don't know about?

So now you guys are resorting to hugs in order to prop up this DASH scam?

No, just trying to make you feel better.

Look, I know you don't feel special or good inside, but don't you worry, because I'm here now to let you know that I think you're great and you are special and you are loved.

Here you go pal  ---------->HUGS<-----------

Have a great day little buddy.

I'm officially done with Cryptsy. I made my weekly BTC purchase and conversion to DASH but this time it took almost 3 hours before they sent my coin to my wallet. Typically something that takes a few seconds to at most a couple of minutes.

I'm a small insignificant crypto holder so me quitting Cryptsy doesn't mean much to them...at least until there are 1000's of me or more. At the rate they are going, it won't be long before all the little guys like me stop using them and they are done. And clearly, given what they've done to Otoh and his public accounting of horrendous service will only make the numbers grow of both small and large investors leaving.

I'm pretty sure that the mass exodus they've been experiencing has been loud and clear.  It looks like Poloniex is the biggest exchange now.  We seriously need a decentralized exchange.  I feel like we could have that much sooner if developers would give up on the idea of fiat to crypto, leave that to a market place like Open Bazaar, and focus only on crypto to crypto exchanges.

And Poloniex is exactly where I went. Deposited my BTC, cleared in a matter of minutes (as expected based on BTC confirmation speed), put my order up, it filled in about 30 minutes, withdrew my DASH and it cleared and hit my wallet in a matter of less than a minute (as expected).  Can't ask for things to work as they should any better than that.

I'm a little puzzled with a transaction that took place from my qt-wallet.

This link shows the transaction on the blockchain: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/tx.dws?1999511.htm

What I don't understand is where this ~18.39 Dash amount came from.  I sent 20 Dash to the address listed on Index item 1. I approved 20 Dash plus the small fee to be withdrawn from my qt-wallet. Definitely did NOT approve 38.39288666 DASH to be withdrawn and I've not set any payments out that were there previously and didn't go out.

The ~18.39 is sitting unredeemed according the transaction record. Have I lost it? Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? The ~38.39 definitely came out of my balance.

This 18,39 is in your change addresss which wallet creates each time you divide the one input amount....
If you send 50 coins out of your 100 coins you had in one address, if you will not point the exact change address you want (option in dash-qt) than the wallet creates it, it is the new address from your 1000 keys it already created when you created the wallet.dat for the first itme Smiley

so the coins are technically still in my wallet, just under a different address? I'll have to look in my wallet when I get the chance. See if I can get it all squared away.

Thanks to those that replied.

So the "malevolence" of these bot miners is not directed at the cryptocurrency itself. There is no illegitemacy in terms of protocol, no rules are broken, no extra supply is created etc. It's a case of one person stealing another's computer for a while to mine on. Worry if you play a lot of Grand Theft Auto.

Well, worry if you are a dumb child that downloaded a pirated copy of a game you probably aren't old enough to be playing in the first place and you downloaded said game because your mom and dad won't buy it for you since you're 12 years old.

... it's very difficult for most of my friends here not to answer a troll straight away.

Let me help you out there.

Just picture a mentally sick dog in a busy metropolitan thoroughfare barking out a repeated grating shrill and vomiting on the pavement every few minutes while performing a convulsive circular dance.

Would you rather:

a) engage its views on the finer aspects of cryptocurrency technology & markets or,

b) get out of the way

or

c) just put a bullet in the poor things head and put it out of its (and our) misery.

I pick C.

i dont think there is any coin out there that has this ... this is very impressive just from a security point alone.

Actually, crowning actually brought this over from LTC. I wonder why it wasn't already here since we were originally an LTC fork.

https://dashtalk.org/threads/v0-11-2-x-testing.4202/page-37#post-50915

Nope, this isn't/wasn't a Litecoin-feature.

Back in my Litecoin-days I wrote an external shell-script which first made a backup of wallet.dat and then started the wallet itself.
This isn't exactly end-user-friendly, so I decided Dash needs something integrated into the wallet itself.

Is it possible for you guys (fabulous DASH devs) to create some automation in the creation/management/updating of masternodes? Make it so that you don't have to be a Linux savant to be a masternode owner? (I know that's an exaggeration but....)

It would be awesome if the majority of what we have to do as masternode owners could be done through the wallet.

I know we've had an upgrade and enforcement has been off but I have not had an MN payment since the 26th of March.   Everything is green at the ninja's site.   Am I alone with this....?
No you`re not, there is something not working 100% like it did in the 11.1.25 version....

Enforcement + Masternode payments are working properly. The problem the reference node takes about 4 days to get through the full list of payments and if you restart it, it won't remember where it left off. It was restarted last Wednesday, then again Saturday (when the blockchain stuck). We would be on our 2nd cycle if it wasn't for the blockchain hanging on Saturday. The next version is going to keep persistent record of who was paid, then continue on, so we won't have this problem in the future.

So I am just missing it then.  =D

Thanks!

You weren't the only one missing a payment. I too had not received a payment since 3/26. I just got paid this morning ~1.97. I think it sucks that we were due for a payment on 3/26 then the new wallet came out so we missed getting our payment. Then the payment table was cleared, then enforcement came on and the table was cleared again and we ( you and I ) somehow got bumped all the way to the back of the line and went 11ish days without payment.

Hopefully this persistent record ED has implemented will mean we don't have that happen to us again.
