Re: 2FA wallet, that has lost access to the 2FA.

Does your friend have an entry for trusted coin in their google authenticator app on their phone?

He does not, he's an older gentlemen, and my guess is that he has somehow pressed this when making the wallet or has actually forgotten about the google authenticator.

Is the code potentially something else than than a code from an authenticator app? Like can it be setup to just be a "regular" code - because he does have some codes written down, that could be that.

I just want to add this as a suggestion: if your friend has the seed phrase to recover this wallet, I suggest that it must be recovered offline, do an offline transaction, and transfer all funds to a new wallet.

Since you are disabling the 2FA, when recovering a wallet, always do it in offline mode to avoid online attacks.

TrustedCoin also has its own recovery tool that you can download here and use it on an offline device to create a wallet with unencrypted and disabled 2FA wallet. And tell your friend to import that wallet to an offline device with Electrum, and don't forget to tell him to generate a new wallet and move all funds through the offline transaction.

Honestly, I don't recommend using 2FA again if you don't want your friend to suffer in the future, because any transaction made from a 2FA wallet is slightly higher compared to a normal wallet encrypted with a password.

Okay, so I can tell you my current idea, to make this whole setup safer for him to use. I have gotten him to purchase a hardware wallet. My idea would have been to make 1 test transaction, and then simply sending the coins to this wallet, making everything safer and easier to use.

I wish to put safety as the utmost importance here, as this additional 2FA block has got me a bit nervous.

We have the seed phrase. is there a way to check if this is the correct one/is legit? I am very interested in hearing that there is a way to make transactions offline.

I would also love to hear more about doing the offline transaction? How is this possible, and how can this be done in a safe way (Even for somebody only medium techsavy)

I havent messed around with this stuff before, and ofcourse its paramount we do not get hacked somehow at this stage, as it seems the most risky.

Your friend added the 2FA and Electrum generated 2FA seed phrase for him. The wallet can not be converted to non-2FA.

Tell him to use the seed phrase to recover the wallet, he will see where he will by-pass the 2FA.

He should click on wallet with two-factor authentication -> I already have a seed. He should paste the seed and click on next. He will see this:

Click on disable to bypass it.

What does two master keys mean?

Hey guys,
My friend has made an electrum wallet on my advice. Now he wants to move the coins out of it.

However, it seems that there is now 2FA on it? He swears he never put that on there, and dont know about any code.

So two questions:

-Can the 2FA be put on it with some sort of wallet update, or is it only possible that it was made like this and subsequently forgotten?

-How can we gain access to this wallet now?

Do you mean recording and monitoring your investment portfolio? Just use Excel or any other spreadsheet program out there. Most people are using them and they have all the features and whistles that you are ever going to need and do not have a big learning curve.

Yes, but I would require some that was a bit easier to use, and imported transactions by themselves etc. Do you use one?

So, I actually havent found a good alternative for a portfolio solution yet.

I was hoping maybe you guys could help me out.

What i need is:

-Preferably free, or very low cost (Non of this, after x amount of transactions, you have to pay more)
-Ability to segment your coins into different categories and thus the percentage of your portfolio in each (For instance, small cap, medium cap, or enterprise coins etc)
-It has to be possible to interact with it on the desktop of a computer.
-Ofcourse the usual, such as automatically updating prices and so forth.

If anyone can help, that would be fantastic!

Best regards.

@Skrodk

Thank you for using our software service.

Yes this approach is possible. Regarding the naming - one account would be one portfolio.
You can assign trade groups to each transaction e.g. Trade group "trading" and another one "HODL" to separate those transactions within the same account.
We have now an automatic depot separation for creating tax reports which helps as well.

We do accept just read-only API keys within while creating API jobs for exchanges as you would like to do.
Most exchanges do offer CSV exports as well which you can import in your CoinTracking account - either via direct CSV exchange import or the custom CSV or Excel import - if you do not want to use APIs.

How exactly would i do it? I have to make a new account and them tie them together? Would i be able to segment the account for trading and for hodl inside the account then? - Sorry if im being stupid but im not quite sure how to procced : )

Greetings all,

So right now I'm using cointracking, but I just have a hodling portfolio in it at the moment.

What i want is to break it into two portfolios - one trading and one hodling - preferably on the same account - as I will likely use my hardware wallet for both.

Maybe with an API for my trading site so that it records the trades automatically in the trading portfolio. Though I'm not sure if it's adviced or if there still is safety problems doing this? (I remember a decent amount of people getting their coins hacked this way)

So two questions : Is it possible to split the portfolio like that - and is it inadvisable to use an API like that?

Getting back in the coin game
by

on 01/07/2020, 18:01:46 UTC
Greetings all

So I have been on a hiatus from the whole crypto game for +3years (Other real life obligations, market crashing without me getting out, etc).
However it seems to be more relevant than ever to come back, especially after this whole Corona business and the money printers going wild. I think
an alternative is more relevant than ever.

It's obviously basically a full time job to keep up with this market.

So for now my Portfolio is doing alright, but what big news/adoption cycle stuff did i miss?

Is Hardware wallet + Google auth still sufficent for security?

I hear that you can make passive income staking via this new Defi thing - Anything more i should know there?

What is the new hot coin to hodl?

Any help is much appreciated in advance.

So, phone with authenticator destroyed.
by

I know this should be easy, but yeah, im sure you have seen it before - Authenticator gone. Is there any easy way to get my google authenticator onto a new phone?

I still have the old one, but the screen is destroyed.

When i go to this: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185834?hl=en&authuser=0

It seems to only deal with an authenticator tied to a google account? Which mine isn't thus it seems mostly useless.. What do i do here? I REALLY would rather avoid going through and getting all my accounts 2FA's revoked, as that seems like an insane pain in the ass.
 As i see it:
1. I can get my screen repaired
2. Go through several weeks of verifying my shit to 15 different exchanges
3. Is it somehow possible to contract google and have them do something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bittrex wallet has been down since the blockupdate?

Anyone know whats going on here? want to move my IOC out to stake, but seriously haven't been allowed to touch for ages now

Hey there! The final step is for current wallet users to move to new protocol and have the network stable. After that Bittrex should be open for depo/withdrawals.

Before you move your funds please make sure you have the right wallet up>

https://github.com/IOCoin/DIONS/releases/tag/DIONS-WALLETS-60019-1054

It is, but when it's stuck on Bittrex, not much i can do! = )

Plans for other exchanges soon btw? Binance maybe?

Hey and thanks for the help last time.

I was wondering if it's possible to have 2 portofolios on one account, one for long term holds and one for trading for example?

Thank you!

Could be huge guys. Seems the Omisego has been supressed for a long time, but unlike many other they have actual technology, actual backing in the real world, and a customer segment that will actually use it.

Thoughts and future prospects on the coin?

Roadmap gonna be released this week as well.
