Well I couldn't get into my account and for a while it looked like the password recovery wasn't working.

Thankfully I don't reuse passwords, but it's always a good wake up call to just go through and refresh your passwords on anything vaguely important once in a while..

Apologies if this has already been posted, but shows how much is being thrown at these large farms, 25 days to build from scratch and get each one up and running!

What power supply did you get with the hubs? Depending on there output you will be limited to how many u2's you can run.

Are the hubs being connected to a PC or a Raspberry Pi?

The mining software whether cgminer or bfg miner, should pick up the u2's on both hubs and will group them to whatever pool you have to the mining software to use.

If I can get my hands on some extra s1 blades to play with, I'm happy to contribute.

It a shame the s1 upgrades aren't already out, as there should be at least a few peeps looking to offload redundant blades.

Re: New Raspberry Pi B+
by

Im currently using the older 256mb model B version. I really like the less power consumption.
Lots of new updrages. I would imagine they will keep upgrading them and keeping it at the same price
as technology will allow. I heard rumors of a super raspberry pi Smiley. I dont know if or when that will come out.
The 1.2a output was a nice bump since the older ones could only do 200ma, which as others have said will allow for less
things to be connected.

The Raspberry PI version 2 wont be out till 2017, the foundation are working on optimising OS and software till then.

New RasPi with 4 USB ports, better power consumption and the annoying SD card holder is gone!

Shouldn't be long till these find there way into rigs.

Disappointed that minimum order quantity is 2, my S1 has just scraped enough btc to get a single S3 to keep me tinkering.

But not willing to invest in 2 and have to get another PSU as well.  Sad

Are we there yet? I'm getting bored already.  Smiley

The S3 is worth whatever people will pay for it, unfortunately there are always people that are willing to pay over the odds for new shiny things.

Realistically I'd pay around 0.75 BTC, any more and it just wouldn't be worth it for me.

Sad Thanks for all the quick responses - though not what I wanted to hear!!!

Just bought Antminer S1 for £250.  Currently mining at 0.007682/day, though there have been two v long blocks on Slush this week. With elec costs here in UK of £1/day I reckon that gives ROI of 154 days ignoring any increase in difficulty or change in £/BTC.

As you say, more entertaining than profit earning (and talking to a nice bunch of guys like you!).

But I still ask the question - what should I upgrade to , to make some money?

Couldn't find any info (in English) on Xia-T-Hash!  Anyone any experience of Miners Cube?

There is the new S3 coming out in a few days but all depends what price they decide on, I've had my S1 since the end of march and still have a way to go to break even.

Just as well I mine for fun  Smiley

Because of hk had the free pass, I can help people buy since I live in HK. 1-2 days shipping from china. How about usa?

The US has a trade agreement with China, so they don't get shafted by import taxes like we do in Europe.

guys, in your calculation i'm not seeing any reference of a customs fee, that in this case is a pain in the ass for a decent ROI. At least let's check that bitmain is declaring low values (like the amazing 120 USD computer gaming gateway Cheesy )

no customs to the usa for this item.

Well at least you have a better chance of a decent ROI than a lot us us then.  Tongue

Even at 0.9 BTC I wouldn't be jumping at it, due to the extra charges just to get it into the UK.

We (Europe, or infact UK) need a trade agreement with China like the USA has - no import tax... If I was USA I could buy more kit cheaper - how is that fair?

[edit]

Today I paid £680 ($1155.17, EUR 850.42) for 3 S2's - import tax...

Suckers...Move to US... Grin

No thanks, it's OK for a holiday though.  Tongue

Could be - or just could be people adding new kit - like me - added 3.6 TH/s to slush today. It's painful when you add new kit during a drought - but I'm patient Smiley

there is zero chance these will be less than $1000 US. bet.

I don't think there is zero chance, but I do get that they would be significantly undercutting their S2 product. In that case they would either deeply discount the remaining S2 stock or else they are already nearly out of stock on them. By pre-announcing the S3 I suspect their S2 stock is low.
There no Bitmain products for sale at any of there outlets. None. The S3 will be the main focus and a huge winner with giant demand $1000 bare minimum. Prob more like $1300. I would bet on it

That would be way too much for the hash rate, 0.9 - 1 BTC shipped at most, any more and there will be no chance of ROI, with the snowballing difficulty increases and pricey customs charges.

Re: Novello Technologies new Mining System Project, prices as low as $0.3/GH
by
Slaine
on 14/06/2014, 12:25:09 UTC

At-home mining began to fade away at the end of last year, there is now no point whatsoever in building small rigs for home use; difficulty dictates what we can and cannot mine - there will always be business ideas which are good-at-heart but completely clueless-in-reality.

The Novello chip specs were great and if this endeavour had been genuine, the company would have had no problem whatsoever in getting funds to T/O, and also could have brought it all to market in a very short space of time.

Sometimes it's just not meant to be, eh Olivia?

 Kiss

Yeah it's been moving toward DC based rigs for a while, it's a shame as it will end up alienating a lot of the mining community, ah well all good things come to an end.

It's a shame, regardless of whether peeps thought this was all above board or not, most of what I've read has just  been bitching.

At least this project included something for the hobby miners, not the usual elitist BS. Most asic units out there are just plain overpriced for what they are, especially when import tax's are involved.

There isn't really anything out there for the BTC hobby miner anymore, a single S1 just wont have enough grunt to make it entertaining soon and current range of 1th units apart from being pricey, are just too damn big n noisy for home use.

Hopefully one of the other manufacturers might take heed, but I'm not holding my breath.

The one thing I like about this campaign is that I can take a gamble as a hobby miner without risking too much.

I can do my liver a favour and stay in a few weekends and that will of paid for a Nova 1, the alternative is I give the money to the missus and she spends it on flippin online shopping.

Yes the site could be more polished and a bit more clarity on the information, but at the end of the day their delivery date isn't that far away, damn handy since it will be cold and a bit extra heat in the house wont hurt.

If this is a new company sorting VAT can be a bit of a faff on and probably delayed them (I've been there!), so they have obviously decided to go live with what the have and polish the edges along the way.

I really hope they succeed as you have to admit that asic stick does look cool and as a gadget freak I really want one, one of the Nova 1's would do as a nice replacement for my S1 as well.  Grin
