I mined EXP a while back and just returned to mining on a pool.  However, I was testing my old scripts, and found my solo mining configuration no longer works.  I used to use solo mining as a backup if my primary pool failed.   I am running the latest gexp and using ethminer or Claymore's miner.  Both return errors that getwork failed after the miner reports a successful connection to gexp.  I tested the same configuration with Ubiq and Music, which use variations of geth/GO and mining works as expected.

Is solo mining with gexp still an option?  If so, did something change in gexp?

Thanks for any answers.

Best thing to do is join the discord and ask someone in there. But I think i know the bug you have run into. Start GEXP with the --mine flag

starting gexp with the --mine option worked.  Thank you!

this is the actual maintained version: https://github.com/ethereum-mining/ethminer

Does anyone know where I can get a question about this version of ethminer answered?  I am trying to use the API to manage my miners remotely ethminer is not responding.  Thanks.

And if anyone is interested, I have tested Claymore and ethminer extensively and I believe ethminer is actually better than Claymores when you do not have to pay the dev fee to Claymore.  I base this conclusion on the reported results from the pool and not on the hash rate displayed by the miner.  The shares submitted to the pools by the two miners is about the same but when you subtract the dev fee, ethminer comes out slightly ahead.

There are some variations depending on the pool and coin but in general, this is the result I have determined.

Genoil's ethminer does not have an AP for remote management as far as I can tell, but the newer version does.  It works with Claymores ethman.exe but I canot get it to work with my own code.  The ethminer API is supposed to be compatible with claymores miner but my TCP client works fine with Claymores, not with ethminer.

Too much info.  I was just hoping to find someone can tell me how to make the API work.

So I sent coins to myself to have a single input yesterday. It has been over 25 hours and my wallet is unlocked and it's still indicating that staking is not active. I have activated multisend if that makes a difference. Is there anything I have to do besides unlock the wallet for staking in order to be actively staking? Please let me know. Thanks Smiley
If you sent the coins to yourself that could be the problem. V3 is a new chain. Review the guide in the OP (Post 1).
Best method is to dumpprivkey in V2 and then, importprivkey in V3.

It better not be a problem because that is exactly what the instructions say we can do.  In fact, the first transition guide recommended it.  It said to consolidate coins to one address by sending the coins to that address (instruction on how to do it were in the guide).  Then dump the private key of the one address and import that key back into the V3 wallet.

Can someone provide a definitive answer on this?  I  also sent coins to myself to get everything into a single address.  Of course when I imported the private key for the single address it did not recover all my coins but I was able to resolve that.  My wallet says staking is active but I have seen nothing happen in over 14 hours.  This could be normal but since someone else is having a problem I'd like confirmation that there is or is not an issue.

Thanks.

I seem to be having another issue.  The wallet menu says "Unlock Wallet" all the time whether I unlock the wallet or not.

I just tried the reindex option from the Waller Repair menu item and the wallet crashed.  Now I cannot restart the wallet at all.

I fixed this or at least I got around it by deleting the DMDV3 folder in the appdata/roaming folder and then restarting the V3 wallet-qt.  I just did the recovery all over again.

I just migrated to v3 using the method described in the transition guide.  I had previously moved all my coins into one address as the original transition guide explained.  However, after importing my private key I lost about 60 DMD.

Before I touch anything, how do I recover the rest of my coins?

UPDATE:

I went back to my old wallet (v2.1.0.4) and reopened it to see if I have any coins in any other addresses.  Again following the directions in the transition guide I used INPUT in coin control to see where all my coin were.  They were all in ONE address.  This is the address for which I dumped the private key and then imported into the new wallet.

However, on the main display I noticed I hade minting transactions that were deposited to another address, not my wallet address.  I had moved all my coins from this address into my main address before I converted to the new wallet.  In any case, I dumped the private key for that address and then imported it into the new wallet and viola!  all  my coins are now in my new wallet.  Perhaps the devs can explain why this happened.

Don't you guys think 10000 DMD is a little too much to be a masternode?  Roll Eyes

Under 2000 would make more sense.

This confuses me a bit because you have presented no argument.

Just wondering why you think it would make more sense??

Just curious
It depends on how high the price would go in the future and may be masernode becomes unreachable for a common investor if there are too many high value coins required to run one.

Regarding master node requirement of 10,000 DMD: it's definitely now a small amount at the moment, however if you compare with DASH masternode 1,000 dash or XEM masternode requirement of 3,000,000 XEM - than DMD masternode seems to be more "affordable"...
Good that miningfield offers shared masternode, hope they will add more masternodes in the near future, not the only one.

You can't compare DMD to Dash or XEM.  DMD has a market cap of less than 4000 BTC.  Those other two coins have market caps over 500,000 BTC.   Considering DMD has a daily trading volume of about 20 BTC or about $108,000, an investment of $54,000 for a MN seems exorbitant.  Just my 2 cents.

I was tier 3 verified for a long time.  I withdrew USD back in April with no problems.  However, when I attempted to withdraw USD a couple of weeks ago the transaction kept failing.  I contacted support and was told of a new requirement for ID confirmation.  I had to upload a picture of myself holding the ID  I provided to get verified in the first place and a note saying this ID was only for Kraken trading.  I was told that even though I was tier 3 verified already I could not withdraw USD until I provided this new photo ID verification.  Obviously, this is a new requirement they implemented after April.

Was anyone notified of this new requirement?  I do not recall receiving any emails or notifications about it.

In any case, when I tried to upload the photo on the Kraken  website, the upload would not complete.  I contacted support about his problem and was told to email the picture to them.  The first picture had too much glare according to support, even though it seemed clear enough to me.  The second picture I used I decided to use a printed note instead of a hand written note because the printed note was more clear.  This was rejected because the note has to be hand written, according to their rules.  I sent a third picture to them 2 days ago and have yet to hear anything back.

In the meantime, my money is sitting with Kraken unavailable to me.

I will wait a little longer and see what they do next.  I am posting this in case anyone else is going through the same thing.

I have been using Kraken for a long time and I have never had a problem.  I have withdrawn USD multiple times and received my funds in a day or two.  However, the last couple of days I have been trying to withdraw USD and each time the transaction is failed with a couple of minutes.  No explanation or reason given.  I get the email saying a withdrawal was requested but the transaction has actually failed.  I am tier 3 verified and I have the funds to withdraw.  Like I said, I made a withdrawal in April and received my funds in 2 days.

I submitted a ticket and I am awaiting a response. It appears I am not alone with this problem but anyone who had the problem resolved if you could post what went wrong, maybe it will help be resolve before support gets back to me - I have no idea how long that will take.

UPDATE:

I received a reply from Karen support telling me I had to upload an ID confirmation photo.  As I said, I had withdrawn US dollars from Kraken multiple times this year already so I have no idea why now I need this new form of ID.  I tried to upload the photo ID and I keep getting an error message that my proof of residence file must be between 98k and 3mb.  My proof f residence file was uploaded a long time ago when I was first Tier 3 verified and it is 821kb so its the right size.  I have no idea what the error message means.  Regardless, I cannot upload the ID confirmation photo which means me funds are still stuck in Kraken.  I was burned when Cryptsy folded and this is starting to feel a lot like that.

Anyone familiar with Gemini?  They also allow USD withdrawals and trading of BTC and ETH.  But when they asked me for my bank account ID and password to verify my bank account, I got very concerned.

All Cryptocurrencies are dropping in price.  Its a dump on a major scale.  But patience is in order.

As for Diamond, it is its own ecosystem.  Demand is fueled by things like multipool mining which creates a constant demand for DMD coins as people mine BTC or ETH and convert them to DMD.  There is safety in this as long as people do not cash in their wallets.

Anyone exchanged RBC tokens?  The deadline is coming.

Did anyone received a mail arlready? I for one did not get an email from them?

I got the email too but I dumped my AMBER a long time ago.  I think I have 50 left on C-CEX which I can't withdraw because the fee is more than the coins are worth!   In any case, the email explains how to attach a RBC token to a ETH address and it asks for some information about you and your AMBER.

Good luck.

I am reading on the Zencash threat that there is a vulnerability in both ZEN and ZCL.  The ZEN developers have decided to implement a soft fork and have released new node software to resolve the issue.  They are saying the same issue exists in ZCL and this is why Bittrex has frozen the wallets of both currencies.

Can someone confirm if this is true and if so, if ZCL development working on a solution for ZCL?

When will be normal Windows wallet? I have ZCL in eleos wallet, can I wait for normal windows wallet to pick up my ZEN coins?  Smiley thanks for answers.
Yes this is also my question, i need wallet for win 7 64. I see this coin can be traded here https://tradesatoshi.com/ is this trusted location? I'm always too suspicious, but this comes with bad experiences i suppose.

Windows wallet : https://github.com/cronicc/zen/releases/tag/v.2.0.8-4

Thanks.  I am using it now.

Update:  It seems to work but CPU utilization is high - nearly 20%.  That's much higher than the ZCL version of zcashd I am running on windows.

Is there a Windows version of Zen (Zend) like there is with ZCL?  If not,  can Zcashd and Zend run on the same Ubuntu machine (by using different ports)?

Have tried Claymore's zcash miner 12.4 under the same Ubuntu 16.04. It shows me ~800 H/s per 3 RX480 cards while sgminer-gm showed only 570 H/s. How is that possible?! Is Claymore's miner lying?

I am getting about 305 H/s per RX480 in Windows with Claymore's Zcash miner.  I get the same result on average from the Zcash pool where I mine.

I have not tried sgminer for Zcash.

Maybe someone can point me - what mean l in binary file name:
cryptonightTongagw256l4.bin
w256 - worksize 256
but l4?

I could be wrong but I think it designates the OS.  Windows bins will have l4.  Linux l8.  I would not bet the ranch on this, but it is an observation of mine.

Sorry to read the bad news here.  I hope no one was burned too much.  I dumped all my holdings a while ago when they lied about dividends but I've been through what some of you are going through too.

There is a lesson in all of this. Crypto is not regulated.  To some, not being centralized is a good thing.  To me, this has always been a problem.  Its too easy to perpetrate a coin scam and get away with it.

You are not going to get any of your coins or earnings back.  Its gone, because it never was.  The only value any coin has is the demand for that coin.  But there is no real value to the coin.  Even AMBER which was supposedly backed by real amber.  It was bull spit.

My advice is NEVER get too hung up on any coin no matter how good it looks.  ALWAYS be ready to sell with no regrets.  Bewares of something that sounds too good to be true.  You can tell the strength of a coin by its market.   Small market = weak coin.

When all is said and done there will be only a few winners left standing in the Crypto coin world.  AMBER was never going to be one of them.

You are not alone.  There are lots of scams in this economy of false value.  I was burned by Cryptsy.  I am still in crypto coins but I am even more vigilant. I will not get burned again.

My motto.  'Follow the profitability. Mine, Sell. Cash Out. Repeat."

Good luck everyone!
