Virtex VTX trading disabled
by
Sterling

VTX trading on havelockinvestments.com has been disabled: https://www.havelockinvestments.com/order.php?symbol=VTX

I'm guessing virtex is planning on releasing financials for 2013 (finally). Wonder why they've frozen trading though. Could be a number of things:

1. Virtex is doing well and they plan on buying all shares off shareholders.

2. Virtex is not doing well (unlikely) and they want to prevent a massive sell-off when this goes live.

Strangely enough, there was a huge selloff of shares last week. Considering financials are coming "by Q1 2014" I don't see why someone would sell off all their shares. Seems fishy.

Seriously... Kraken isn't that big yet and still can't keep up with support. Something needs to change. Sucks because I really want this place to succeed.

you will have higher returns than the average and make up your loss.

This is the part I don't get. It doesn't matter when you invest, whether the profit is up or down, or what kind of bets are being made, your chance of winning/losing remain the same (minus the 1% edge).

If you divest when it's up a few k, and invest when it's down a few k, you will have higher returns than the average and make up your loss. This because when it is up a few k there are more investors and less to earn, whereas when it is down a few k there are less investors and hence more returns on your capital. Basically do the inverse of what the greedy/scared investor does.

That's illogical.

When the site is down, and there are fewer investors, you get higher returns and losses.

Most of the real casino are making crazy money every month and are not in a negative profit after a couple of months

In all fairness, casinos operate on like, 5% edge or whatever. Pretty hard to lose money like that, even if you're unlucky.

I don't get it.

Nakowa would have lost FAR more today had the max bet remained 1%. How is this unfair?

Was it a rushed decision? Sure. Unfair? Hell nahhh.

My initial plan was to allow each investor to choose their own house edge and risk level and have them form a market like on an exchange, so the player gets matched by whichever investor(s) are offering the lowest house edge(s).  This would result in competition between investors to get gambler action and cause the edge to be the lowest available anywhere.  I wonder how such an idea would go down.  It would probably result in a few crazy investors offering very low edges, and leave the sensible investors getting matched by none but the biggest bets.  (Like how when you ask for more than the current market rate on MtGox when selling coins, you only get matched by the big buy orders).

Doog I plead you not to do this. The market will keep getting undercut until house edge is very low. I know this will attract more gambler, but it'll kill site profit (yours and mine).

1% is already very competitive and clearly allows the gambler to win big anyway.

Sigh. The market cap for LTC is $56 MILLION. Do you think that fontas and his cronies really hold a significant portion of the coins in circulation? Sure, maybe he was able to influence the price of smaller coins, but LTC - absolutely not.

Small bug for canadian address registration... need to input postal code in all caps for some reason. That's fine but no error message specifies what exactly is wrong with the postal code, and it took me a while to figure out what was going on!

Edit:

Level 3 verification error;

Identity document: Internal error
Proof of residence: Internal error

Documents are PNG, and ~1mb each.

Serious question, what are your thoughts on mining XPM with a Xeon Phi?

Looks like those have a total of 57 cores @ 1.1 for a total of 62.7GHz of processing power. You can get 30GHz+ with an AMD Vishera for less than $200. I know the comparison isn't apples to apples, but I don't know why you'd spend that kind of money regardless.

I caught the miner working its way to the Primordial Multiplier error, see image below:

In addition, every time I find a share, I disconnect from the pool. Very annoying. Anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

Im testing the v7.1 inside a ESXi Windows 2008 64bit VM (Running on a i7 920) w/ 4 cores assigned. However it seems that this wont produce any share at all. PPS values are ~15k. Anyone experiencing the same probs??

Heres an output example after leaving it running like 40 mins

Code:
---------------------------------------------------------------
---- New Block: 117030 - Diff: 9.750861 / 6.000000
---- Total/Valid shares: [ 0 / 13 ]  -  Max diff: 7.24141
----  6-chain count:   14 -  6ch/h:  18.896 - Share Value: 1.400
----  7-chain count:    1 -  7ch/h:   1.350 - Share Value: 1.000
----  8-chain count:    0 -  8ch/h:   0.000 - Share Value: 0.000
----  9-chain count:    0 -  9ch/h:   0.000 - Share Value: 0.000
---- 10-chain count:    0 - 10ch/h:   0.000 - Share Value: 0.000
---- Total Share Value submitted to the pool: 0.000000
---------------------------------------------------------------
Val/h 3.231 - PPS: 14099 - 4ch/h: 2503.87 - 5ch/h: 250.39 - 6ch/h: 18.85 - Last 4ch/h: 3142.93 - Last 5ch/h: 0.00
Val/h 3.221 - PPS: 12557 - 4ch/h: 2508.46 - 5ch/h: 249.64 - 6ch/h: 18.79 - Last 4ch/h: 4040.91 - Last 5ch/h: 0.00

And if i check on the ypool webpage the worker hasnt submitted a single valid share

v7.1 has submitted nothing but invalid shares for me (same errors etc).

Switched to v6 and instantly the problem is gone.

Re: WARNING suspicious behavior with mtrlt

You have been working on this GPU miner for 3 weeks now. Provided you are working full time, which is considered to be, in the USA, 8 hours daily, you have been working with a wage of 51.1 USD/Hour, earning a current total of 75 BTC/8,588 USD. (Current Mt.Gox rate) https://blockchain.info/address/1FKfgFQeZCpjGDn7ocgj26nk4K2TNiVJyD

And that is how much a skilled programmer should be paid (before taxes).

There aren't many programmers around skilled enough to build a GPU miner. The donators buyers fully understand the risk involved.

As for speed estimates, it has been asked 100 times in his first thread, it's getting a little annoying. Believe me, if the GPU miner was fast, he'd be quick to post about it as it would boost donations sales.

Been running on an 8 core opteron for almost 4 days:

Balance 0.479320 XPM
Unconfirmed: 0.372963 XPM

Disappointing.

You're doing something wrong, or you're renting a CPU and not really getting what you pay for.

Transactions could be a minimum of X pennies.

Say 100 pennies, with a 1% fee = 1 penny. It's a start anyway.

Please post an AVX version.  I am seeing a serious reduction in performance in PPS (and in turn, chaining) on my A10-4600m.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1189851/jhPrimeminer-GMP-v7-AVX.zip

Does this fix the prime multiplier 2x problem? I run into it daily, it's brutal waking up to 8 hours of errors and no XPM generated =\.
