Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD]

I have an old GoldCoin wallet I extracted from my android and decrypted. Key starts with Q. How can I check the balance of this coin? I am 100% sure it is a GoldCoin wallet. From September 2013. I am certain it is decrypted.

Please make a post in the Android support forum and our mobile developer will assist: https://www.goldcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0

Hello All - I checked the last few pages before bringing this up here with no luck
i saw this comment about the android wallet, are you guys aware the Gold-QT-10.12.Dmg has an error and doesn't function ?
* third download attempt in the last couple weeks ; no problem joining your other forum but most everything typically handled on bitcointalk
. any help here would be greatly appreciated

2016 Mac - OSX 10.11.13
Fault Error Shown:
" A fatal error occured. GoldCoin (GLD) can no longer continue safely and will quit.

EXCEPTION: 22DbRunRecoveryException
Db::open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
goldcoin in Runaway exception "

Thanks -

This error indicates that the blockchain database files are corrupted.  You will need to delete them (~/Library/Application Support/Goldcoin (GLD)/blkindex.dat and blk*.dat) but DO NOT delete wallet.dat and the client can download the blockchain again once you started it up again.

Why should there be 200 confirmations to complete the transfer?? I have already 70! confirmations..What's wrong here?

On some coins, Cryptopia requires 200 confirmations.

It would be nice if OP would update the first post with Alcurex echange too, since it is traded there too:
https://alcurex.com/#GLD-BTC

I had updated the OP and the main website but then noticed the exchange is mirroring the Bittrex order books?

Does that mean they are front running Bittrex trades?  Even the highs, lows and volume are the same.

Thanks for the link to the wallet source and the addnodes.  Unfortunately the cryptsy wallet that I had was only about 48Kb in size and had no balance.

48k sounds too small - a freshly created "empty" wallet.dat is already 128k in size.

Have you tried the -salvagewallet commandline option? (Make a backup of the existing wallet.dat first)

I tried the -salvagewallet, but still there were no coins in this wallet.  Must have been a dud.

Our team obtained many of the cryptocurrencies that were frozen on Cryptsy's servers when the exchange collapsed. The Galaxycoin wallet.dat was among those recovered.

We are now in the process of giving these wallet files back to their respective communities. The wallet has not been inspected and it's unknown if it contains any coins. If you are a developer of this coin, or a longstanding community member, you can file a request for the wallet in this thread: https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=3789.0

Great job you guys, some good news in all the bad around Cryptsy.

Wish I had my Cryptsy trading and deposid/withdrawal history backed up  Sad
Don't know what I had on there anymore  Embarrassed

I was working on getting the wallet up and running from Cryptsy, but can't find the source code for the wallet.  Are there any miners or block explorers?

Greetings:

The GoldCoin Community has acquired through auction one of the wallet.dat files of the old chain 42 coin that was at Cryptsy.  How shall it be handled?
1.  Let me keep all of it and I will exchange it for 42-coins and be rich
2.  Reimburse the community for their losses (in this case, I would turn over the coins in some fashion).

I found some POP that can be donated to support this coin.  Where should it go for donations on development or community growth?

Wow, that is really nice of you!

If you are definitely going to give them away you should send them here:  QVWsYRpM6cLMshPEra4EbmTVFX9w7sZsha  I will make sure that they get used to benefit the coin and community.

But really you can keep them as well, we are working on some new code and there is still people paying attention to POP, some are just trying to get some cheap coins right now, but users are there.

Please let us know if you need anything. Or have any ideas or advice of how we can grow the coin more?

Thanks,

POP

I sent some to that address.  I don't have much in the way of ideas, though.

Re: Has Dashpay given up on privacy?
by
Stouse49
on 22/08/2016, 06:25:33 UTC
First Masternode blinding was seemingly abandoned

Next Evan makes it clear that adding protocol level privacy is not a focus of Dashpay "Evolution"

Now Dashpay leaders are trying to convince Masternode owners (easy since Evan and Otoh own enough coins to pass any Masternode vote proposal they wish) to pay for a KYC program to help DOXX Dashpay atm users.

Has Dashpay given up on privacy?

If they remove their DarkSend/PrivateSend, then yes.  Otherwise, they have a lot of pipe dreams, perhaps biting off more than they can chew.

Regarding Masternode Blinding, it does appear that it wasn't implimented.  I haven't heard about it in a long while.
https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/4nbqi9/is_masternode_blinding_yet_incorporated_into_the/

Dash Evolution development has barely begun and it runs two tiers above the "protocol" -- the protocol in view here is the Bitcoin Wire Protocol, the P2P aspect that sends messages such as "getdata", "block" and others for communication between nodes to keep all the nodes synced up as far as the blockchain is concerned.  Evolution will run in its own decentralized layer, or so it is claimed. So privacy on the protocol level, even DarkSend/PrivateSend doesn't necessarily mean anything for Evolution.

It will be interesting to see what comes out of all this.  My main interest is their code and it is fun to figure out how it all works internally.

Transaction confirmation time - TARGET_SPACING or TargetSpacing, GetNextWorkRequired
Block maturity time - coinbase depth
Difficulty retarget time - TARGET_TIMESPAN or TargetTimespan, GetNextWorkRequired
Difficulty algo - GetNextWorkRequired
Min stake age
Max stake age
Minting maturity
Block reward pow and pos - GetBlockValue

Some of these names are based on the older source code, some the newer code.

For POS items, I am not sure.  The best way to learn is to look and read and do "Find Usage" to see what is up with this or that variable in the code.

After a few hours of testing I've let the miners on my pool know that it's ok to upgrade.

I think you should remove the link to this block explorer from your OP: http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com/

this explorer did not show my transaction for over an hour.

the other block explorer took about 20 minutes before the transaction showed up.

The block explorers may in fact be correct.  The reason for the update to the client is to fix a bug that was resulted in a difficulty higher than it should have been.  The transaction that you were talking about took 3 hours to get the 10 confirms required on Cryptsy.  (6 was two hours, but should be 12 minutes).  The changes in the code don't affect the operation of the client until block 248,000.

His link was to another coin with "gold" in its name, but it seems like most coins have a downward direction in their charts.

Perhaps GoldCoin will pickup when the new client comes out.

Google goes a long way to finding the answers.  Faster than asking the question, sometimes.  Searches on these forums will result in the links to download the wallets for each coin.

It was great while it lasted and it showed us what happens with a coin with a very small block reward;  great research information for the cryptocoin community.
