You have to consider the increase/decrease that Bitcoin has been subjected to these last few months. It's likely that a lot more was waged before when Bitcoin was at a lower amount. I would say it's one of the biggest total wagered gambling sites.

Bitmain are probably the only reliable site. But their delivery times are questionable. You can check the hardware sub forum here on the forum and use an escrow to assure everything goes smooth.

It's actually totally unexpected that it's gone up so much this year but whats really surprising is that it's kept it's value too and not corrected like many people over in the economics sub forum are saying it would. I think this has just proven that $50,000 isn't far off and we could be seeing it in a few years.

Re: McDonalds to accept Bitcoin by 2018
by

This would only have a positive impact of Bitcoin and it's acceptance and it makes sense as Bitcoin is now worth more than mc donalds itself in net worth. I'm not sure if I will be spending my bitcoin on mc donalds due to the transaction fees that come with small transactions but its a positive movement.

Re: How many people paid their debt and reached ROI status with Bitcoin?

I've never been in debt personally so wouldn't understand the pressure that's on peoples shoulders if they do have debts but I would say if you truly believe in Bitcoin as a currency and think it can maybe double its value or more then it's worth going with your beliefs as it could pay off your debts in the future as well as earn you a little pocket cash on the side too.

Re: Hacked Hero Account. Please help

Admin are over spammed, sent a request like few month ago... No my alt account if full member :/

It may take a few months or the evidence provided wasn't sufficient or wasn't correct, just double check what you've sent and send it once every two weeks. Judging by how Meta has been filled with these requests lately though, I would imagine that a lot of people are in the queue ahead of you.
I've been in the queue for over 6 months now...although I did only send the one PM, so perhaps it got missed.

The general advise is to send one per week/fortnight just in case they are getting missed. I think cyrus also checks on the account and not just the signature to assure that it is indeed hacked/stolen so it's not as simple as just verifying the signature and then unbanning.

Re: something "FISHY" about coinpayments
by

Again I've never used coinpayments and would recommend against using them. But if they did warn people to withdraw the bitcoin cash before the hard fork then there's nothing that can be done about it because they are within their power to do just that.

I would recommend switching to a different platform for storing/exchanging coins.

I haven't used coinpurse.io myself so don't know all the details but the yway you are describing it it sounds like a Ebay sort of site where you are purchasing through their platform but dealing with other members of the public and not coinpurse.io directly.

This means that you won't be able to sue coinpurse.io if they haven't done anything wrong as you were dealing with another member on their site. All you can do is contact their support and hope that the member is banned from using their platform.

Re: How to calculate a possible earning from an ICO?
by
SureLockLoans
on 24/11/2017, 13:08:51 UTC
Mobile games?  Maybe its a growing industry, but it will face some restrictions. Like mobile devices performance. Besides, I have a powerful cell phone, but I don't play many games. I download only free ones.
But what I really put my money in - games on pc and ps4. Its more profitable industry, I think.

The mobile industry is really booming, even free games generate revenue through advertisements or in game purchases. PC industry is still quite big but I believe the market cap of mobile apps is far bigger.

It depends on the way how you are at your managing skills and your analyzing skills. The process to accomplish a successful ICO includes many tasks and if you are confident enough about the value of your coin then you will be able to calculate the possible earning from the ICO with more accuracy. If the project is in need in the real world then it will be well established then the token will have real value and will be sold rapidly. So after finding a real project you will be able to calculate the cost and earnings from the ICO.

You won't be able to calculate it accurately. A coins success is determined by public involvement and whether or not it's hyped and how much news coverage is gets. You can make an educated guess on how much you are going to earn but certainly not pin point accuracy.

Why don't get a hardware wallet in the first place?

Armory and Blockchain.info is good too.. they both support both chains

Blockchain.info is not good. It's a poorly written wallet which has numerous issues including not being able to get fees right which either results in you overpaying or underpaying drastically.

Armory on the other hand is decent at least.

Re: How to buy Bitcoin for Grandparents?

If he's interested in investment only then creating a offline wallet with Ubuntu is a very good idea but if hes interested in actually using it in the short term then I think a hardware wallet suits him more. It requires an investment but its safer to use if the person who uses it doesn't know a lot about computers then its safer than just using a computer.

A raspberry pi is going to be slower than a modern computer these days with over 4gb of ram and a modern operating system. But the good thing about the raspberry pi is it's pretty nippy and doesn't need a lot of storage space for the operating system.

Re: Safe way to store many bitcoins?
by
SureLockLoans
on 24/11/2017, 12:30:35 UTC
Paper wallet.... the only safe way.

I also use a paper wallet for large amounts and put them in my bank safe.
Steel beats paper, paper is easily destroyed, write down your private key in steel https://cryptosteel.com/

If you are going to use the company that you have linked you are spending $79 minimum to engrave on a piece of steel, when that is fairly basis to do. All you have to do is go to your nearest scrap yard and buy it off them for a few dollars and write it yourself. Although, a paper wallet if stored correctly is more than enough and doesn't require any investment at all.
I don't know about you but $80 is really nothing for me, I got better things to do with my time than to spend hours if not days engraving hundreds of little steel tiles.

For that money you might as well get a hardware wallet it has more functionality and is just as safe. In fact you can still use it online but as soon as you use the private key off that bit of steel it could be compromised.

That website probably doesn't sell a lot of those as it's effectively a paper wallet with extra expenses.

Click "report to moderator" on the bottom right of his post and include in the box that he is sending viruses. The staff will check it and will likely nuke him from existence straight away because hes a newbie he'll likely create another account and attempt this again but just keep on reporting him via the method above.

Your best bet is trying to use an accelerator service though a lot of these require a minimum fee to have been sent you could offer to pay a premium if they were to help you. If you are that desperate but if you can wait awhile see if any free accelerator will help you.

There's a website which estimates how long for confirmations that I can't recall maybe search it up and see how long they predict.

SebastianJu and Ognasty are the only escrows that I would truly recommend. They have a history on the forum and a massive reputation. Each of them has escrow hundreds of Bitcoins and will likely be the most head ache free options.

PGP or signing an address is one of the best ways to recover anything and thats why PGP is used in proving you are who you say you are. Signing a bitcoin address is the same and it's why so many escrows sign an address that they control.

2FA authentication has been suggested too and will be part of the feature list of the new forum but I think thats using bitcoin addresses and signing too.
