For example anyone who has purchased a cloud mining contract will likely not sell their newly mined bitcoin, also many people will probably not sell their bitcoin above what it costs to cover their electric costs
IMO it is generally not very profitable to arbitrage. The market is generally too efficient for most people to be able to profit that is worth the risks.

It depends what you search, searching and reading some articles are illegal and anyway do you want to see the police knocking at your door?
On the other hand if you use Tor, the police could know and go knock at your door thinking you are doing something illegal
Hey guys I have transferred 80$ to my bitcoin wallet this morning and it was pending for hours, well I clicked Reset Blockchain and Transactions thinking it would help well it deleted my pending transaction. How do I get that back? It shows that I sent the coins to my wallet via Coinbase but is not showing in my wallet. It has synchronised with the network and i clicked that. I am not sure if i ever backed it up. Can i view my wallet on a website or is there any way to obtain? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
Did coinbase provide a TXID when the bitcoin was sent? If so can you post it?If you look at the address on a block explorer does the TX show up?
Based on the fact that you said "reset blockchain and transactions" I assume that you are using multibit. If this is the case then you sometimes will need to "reset the blockchain" up to 3 times for the balance to accurately update. If this does not work then you will need to export your wallet file to another wallet (I would recommend blockchain.info for this.

He should be sentenced to some community service and home confinement for fair amount of time at most a relatively short stay in jail if you ask me. This is pretty disturbing to think a judge would even consider allowing such a long jail sentence and that DA should be worried about losing his job for having such horrible judgment on the matter.

I'm not saying he should be punished I'm saying he should atleast face a reasonable punishment if any at all. If that act is considered illegal that is what I'm talking about, regardless of what I feel is fair or right, it doesn't matter in the least. I'm not the DA I'm just stating what I think is plausible for someone to do in that position. If people are angry about this including then it's likely some kind of punishment is to come. My point is that the punishment if any at all should fit the crime simple as that.
Though I don't like what he did I don't think he should have any significant punishment. It's disrespectful and in bad taste to be done in broad daylight in public but the is the long and short of it IMO. I'd be interested to see how the supreme court would rule and I'd be surprised it the case made it that far honestly.

I don't think it will go down this low. Bictcoin has traded between the mid 400's and the lower 700 range all year (post gox). I don't personally see it going much lower then the mid to low 400 range (in the past it has always rebounded strongly when it got to these levels).The problem with that statement is that eventually, you run out of buyers. Everyone who bought the last 2 or 3 bounces in this range has made decent money IF they sold. But many (perhaps most) did not so they are full. Also, eventually you run out of suckers and the buyers get beaten down until they are too wary to buy at these prices again and again.
The main point I am trying to make here is that just because it has done this before, does not mean it will continue to do the same. Many traders who use trend lines will tell you that a trend lines get broken on the 4th test. So they all fail to hold at some point. Even though it may not last long (or it might) a spike that gets through still counts and that is all that is needed to break a trend.
I would argue that a lot of people who bought in the low 400 range likely sold at higher prices and now potentially have more money to invest/speculate with.
The man only has one life so I wouldn't expect him to be trying to play a Bitcoin martyr. The feds are pro's at making people take deals they wouldn't normally take. The system is so rigged it it is not funny, especially if you don't have a great legal team and the money to pay them.. The fact that he pleads guilty is in many ways a win for the FEDS and a loss for the little guy who got caught in the wrong place and didn't know the right people.
IDK how much him fighting (successfully) the charges would help bitcoin. I think the case is really more about money laundering laws then anything else. If anything, the case is about someone who did business and made money off the silk road site regardless of the morality of what was being done. I think the government wants to prosecute as many people who sold on silk road as possible to make others who sell/make money off other similar sites afraid to do business on those sites.
