The genesis block has come from the Bosun Hicks particle. so Gods hammer can smite them all.
.................
My argument and thinking is the same for any alt and even BTC itself.
OK..I personally get the blockchain..I personally see the inherent change it can make to paper pushers the world over.
Decentralised ledgers ...yes... as a method of bypassing the current gatekeepers everywhere.
Centralised ledgers for that matter...but with worldwide acknowledgement of the ledgers accuracy.
(Keeping the gatekeepers in control).
My trouble is I dont have the skill set to take this idea to market and do this disruption.
.................
As currencies (to buy and sell things.... I am less enthusiastic).
Business to Business, country to country ....works.
People to business...less so.
What convinces mom and pop to go to the effort of paying my electrical business BTC to hire my services?
As opposed to $AUD?
Where is the value in them changing?
If this compelling arguement cannot be forthcoming...it is not effectively a currency per se.
The "currency " part of BTC will only ever be effective as say "Bartercard".(which is an alternative CENTRALISED currency that uses barter dollars at the constant exchange rate of 1:1 with $AUD).
Bartercard has a constant churn of client businesses that sign up find the cost and hassles of finding someone to trade with is too much and leave.
..................
BTC currency is created after doing the sums as rewards for the computations.
it hopefully pays the cost of doing the computations....by paying in the same coin...or converting into Fiat of choice.
As for growing the value of currencies.... it can only ever be..That which the public is prepared to pay for a part of the system.
.................
If the system is valuable.... so is the coin.
if it is not it is not.

They are not going to accept BTC... I asked that one last year.
....................
I dont think there can be realistically a decentralised system of buying and selling PM....In a distributed sense of linking value to the chain.
Physical is physical and needs to be delivered. If it is not delivered it is centralised ...somewhere.
That is what is wrong with all the paper being written by the Big institutions..... They write naked paper, and are not good for delivery...they trade expiry and option dates.
(there are enough paper options in existence at any one time for many hundreds/thousands of tonnes of more gold than ever dug up.)
.........................
If I was a customer of yours in another country.... and possibly you were one of mine... I can see a ledger of assets being open and accountable between the parties.
(this could account for PMs...and what UNex distributed vault was about)... but we had no business selling to us or us to them...at the time of the idea.
It is what I can see Etherum or NEM or NXT being able to do.
Contracts between decentralised parties...for sale or storage of a good or service.
Enforcable with multisignature.
Somehow I need to get a business online so I can get into this future.
................................
Telling Mom and Pop that the digits on the screen is alternate money....that is different to the governments digits on the screen... I just dont know.
I love the blockchain.
Mom and Pop love the government.
I dont know how the masses will be converted without big brother
a) outlawing
b) confiscating
c) taxing the crapper out of it.... too many big old institutions to fight.
.................................
I am quite happy to be proven wrong.
The blockchain and distributed ledger is an idea whose time has come.
It will (is starting to) change business all around the world.
As far as the coins having value in themselves...i just dont know...pieces of a ledger yes..
The ledger needs to be the desirable thing.... then the coins have value.
Now how do we link value to the chain?
Answer this and we all retire with full boots.

I bought a 10gram Pamp bar on eBay last night...couldn't resist.
Wont get me far if we did have a reset but feels right not squirreling away paper.
The conspiracy theory is the naked paper holders are so naked they sold off in that 10 minute plunge, (at the quietest time of day), to send it down.
Sale time before End of month covering and all that.
Gold especially is up in our local (AUD) this year but as USD is strong...and Mr market loves the Nth American paper...why I have no idea...
I read yesterday that Uncle Sam owes more than a million USD for every man woman and child and adding 30k per month.
100% plus leveraged to this great recovery the world is experiencing.
..........................................
Conspiracy theory aside.
I downloaded the updated wallet.
Chain updated within an hour...so am back with my massive 50 UNO.
Will invest more now over the merge mine hump.

Thank you for the wallet update. Smiley

@digicoin Great news! Glad it worked!

@Edgar Could @digicoin's issue be the same one you are having on your 64 bit machine?

ive tried with and without .conf file MANY times always to no avail.

and to be quite frank - its rare that a .conf file is actually required.

but i WILL try again, just to be 100% sure. nothing ventured etc

E2A - Nope... Guess i'll wait for the new build.

>screams silently<
finally got a new password.
I have the same problem as you Edgar.
I just have not been able to login to  / agree/compare.
Tried all this non programmer knows. Add node function does not work in new 10 model it seems and it comes packaged without any nodes.
Windows 7 64 bit system.
My wallets are on this laptop.
It is used for nothing else. It is what would pass for a clean windows build.....if indeed this was possible hehe.
UNO was working fine with 10 + nodes before upgrading at merge.
Since merge cannot find any nodes.
I havent traded any Uno---as I cannot.
I will wait for the new one with changes.

One more thing.
When an attacking player touches the ring...it is a free pass to the defending team.
Neither team is allowed to touch the ring.
That was the skill of dunking....any fool who is 6ft tall can dunk when they hold the silly ring with some practice.
"professionals"...my arse. spoonfed overgrown over indulged tall people more likely.
rant over hehe, and why i haven't watched it in a long time, (but i secretly still wish I was young enough to run around playing).

Nothing should have to be said, the product should speak for itself, if i need a sales pitch with a shot clock, lmfao no way.

hehe lurking for last weeks because the downtime asked to change password but the email never arrived.

Put part of SIRSmokes message because I like that quote.
When I played B Ball, there was no shot clock or silly 3 point line.
You went and took the ball if they were holding and not shooting.
....................
Shot clock ruined the game IMHO and the plebs have no idea.
Dribbling for time was a skill one that has disappeared.
Same as Hodling a crypto....(See I am misspelling HOLD now too.)
.............................
Hold it if you wish... trade it if you wish.
it is the fairness so no instant millionaires that attracts people to UNO.
This is the problem with vested interests...they are vested.
If they don't help their "coins" they die.
It is the problem with MOST of the Crypto currency scene.
Have a good day all .

Dont forget to place in dark spot, and/or laser ink.
The inkjet stuff fades over time as well.
Not as badly as fax paper but does not yellow that well.
If filed correctly will last our lifetimes, if sun struck couple of years at the most.
Although I assume if you are papering your wallets you are not going to stick them on the windows to show the world your wealth Wink

I was just reading my post and had a revelation of sorts.
Why do we even have wallets?
..................
why not plug and play, separate to the data base efforts of the computers running the show, from a smart device for transactions.
...................
Also when I said the idea will go away...
it wont, it is just the big banking cartels with use blockchain technologies and lock out the decentralised models now emerging.
Is all about the numbers of users.
If you cannot spend a bitcoin there is no point in mining one and back to the 10000 btc pizza.
....................
We probably have 3 years before Wall Street decides to stop playing.
The market cap of bitcoin is peanuts if they wanted to buy them and not use them all.
So need to make it idiot and bullet proof in half that time.

i don't know.  probably?

okay, so now i know where unobtanium.conf file goes, but i still don't know what it is.  do i just make a blank text file and save it as unobtanium.conf?  if so, what exactly do i need put as text?  is there something i can copy paste?

can you see how terrible this all is for an "average" user of crypto?  I mean, I grew up with computers, I work for a leading tech company, on the internet all day every day...muggles think i'm some tech whiz just for using crypto, so if someone like me is having a hard time figuring this out, then we're completely fucked for "mass" adoption.  People are always like "we need to tell our friends and family to get in on this" but this whole shit show is a perfect example of why I am not "spreading the good word," so to speak.

please don't anyone take offense from my ranting, i am just extremely frustrated and need to vent.
Hi Crypto and welcome.
Yes this is often my problem.
It is like having to be a mechanic before you drive a car.
Currencies these playthings will never be till developers learn that Joe Public does not want to learn the fiddle, just wants to play.
I have started thinking on these lines.... in the Late 1800 early 1900 most people who drove WHERE mechanics.
Then they made better cars.
It is up to developers to make better wallets.
So far they seem to be happy with the generic Bitcoin yuk thing.
................................
Weird bit is the world is about to go cashless... Visa/ebt cards just work.
Ipad banking...just works.
So the crypto idea may just be that, an idea that came and went, before the (intelligent to be sure) geeks discovered the masses and the potential of the idea.
(I say geek in an affectionate way...I was one till this new breed came along hehe).
They seem to be content with the effort so far but not to spread the wings and change humanity, which could be entirely possible if people did not have the enforced banking, at the point of a gun.
It is an idea whose time has come...but along with that needs to just work without effort by the user, other than remembering a strong password and not putting usb in the microwave.
That is the real challenge of the next year or two, otherwise, Visa (owned by the banks) wins.

Tacktic.

http://www.nodeexplorer.com/  is back up and online and is great for checking out lots of details about nodes

We also have http://blockexplore.in/ which is a blockexlporer and rich list

And Nembex at http://nembex.nem.ninja/ which gives you a little bit of information about nodes and a block explorer.

These links need to be on page 1.
I know the pages at home, have links saved, at work searching on google is hopless and no crosslinking of all the places NEM is.
If you really want NEM to be successful and widespread as you say.
It needs to be easy.... not just for geeks. 99.9% of the addressable population are not computer people.
They use them but dont know them inside out, same as car drivers are not mechanics, necessarily.
Github etc.. is confusing for my mother.
It needs to just work.
Remote host is basically all most of the population will use, so it needs to be easy.
Otherwise they wont wait for local host to download an up to date chain, and default to dollars or credit card in the wallet.
A default setup is necessary and easy to follow writeups on how to delegate.
If the remote host goes down a popup needs to happen saying restart delegated harvest etc...
Little things but will make NEM a real force.

Is a lot easier than NXT at the moment, that said.
The features need to happen so we can evaluate real world opportunities NEM looks like providing.
Asset exchange and built in multisig are winners for business if handled correctly.
Could change the world.
needs to be easy and secure.
I am not a programmer, I will be a user if it rolls out well.

Thanks for the translation,
I sit next to a Russo/Aussie at work...but I am not there..is my weekend today Smiley
I agree, the club is a good idea is why I came here/ cryptoguild.
I traded labour for Bartercard/BBX dollars for a few years.
Crypto for me is a modern play on that.
I used to buy Silver coins with my bartercard dollars.
These are what I am selling for UNO to the Aussies.
I would like us to be decentralised holders of UNO and silver as well.
If in the future it became synonymous that would be the grail.
electronic precious for transaction represented with historical money base.
The trust and the network is the key.
Somehow it can and will come together.

has anyone actually withdrawn any of the 5 tons that were dropped on cryptsy?  strange that the superwallet hasn't budged.
Playing their own game? trading cross holdings?
Not that Macquarie would ever do that!!!!! Never!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting if did happen. or whoever bought didn't take offline, which would indicate a trading stake.

I thought of one more thing yesterday.
I was at the local bank.
They were talking about making "select" branches cashless.
(no-one wants or needs it apparently,( we begged to differ after I said you charge extra for cash, instead of less is the only reason why)
Also leveraged to the hilt and could not afford the people asking for their money.
Reading my doom porn Zero hedge, i find this is planned in the good ol USA as well.
This is another BIG tick for decentralised currencies/ assets.
A lot of the talk about BTC on the aforementioned website...is what if they turned off the internet.
Well if they did that to digital fiat...same result eh.
.............................
Question is what do you pay *cough* campaign donations with now?
.............................
I really have to start another small business and give discounts for Uno or silver.

Tacktic.

or could be final chance to jump ship of course hehe but definately LOOKS like a stop raid.
Is why technical and charts is for want of a better word fun.
You see emotions, and bots reacting to them right on the screen. (typed paper but Im probably the only one reading this forum ever traced a line onto graph paper lol).
Thing is I think crypto is to come rather than , here and finished, to be traded daily.
Sure can make coin trading but the real game is use and acceptance of the ideas.
SO why sell? unless to buy again...or get out.
If buy again, not selling means higher price.
Getting out means you think it will fail...or want temp price dip, to buy again.

I wasn't planning on buying any UNO until next week and had no bids, but had to panic buy @ dump prices.  Support continues to HODL.

https://cryptrader.com/charts/cryptsy/uno/btc

Yes that is my kind of chart.
Would make it to my watchlist if UNO was not already on it  Tongue
Considering I limit myself to 3 issues hehe.
, high volume spike, Long tail on a down slide, on a longer term uptrend.

Can you feel the wind a brewing?
get the spinnaker ready, just in case.

yes i thought,
"Solid rock, standing on sacred ground,

Somehow echo crypto and its coming.
As for specific Uno well not so much.
except we are solid Smiley and have rockchain.
Then again any good old Aussie song is applicable with a few words swapped in.

even convict songs ...Botany Bay or Old Man river.
