It's great to see the momentum of HERo's growth lately. Scrolling before I saw well over 200 members, many of which appear to be experts in their field. There is also a significant rise in questions and posting of content within the site. These are great objective metrics. The goal is to get engagement to rise there enough so that there is a core community with a self-sustaining level of engagement, which can then be used to snowball into growth of new members. It's a great model.

It's also beginning to look a little better for the crypto industry overall, with a little more sustainable growth in markets. There are many ways to reach to success for DNotes, and I firmly believe that the multi-pronged approach to take the future into our own hands by creating a successful business unit to bootstrap success from & point investors towards as evidence of prudential business management while we wait for market conditions is a wise move.

Wow, Frank Shankwitz sounds like a truly remarkable man Alan. It sounds like it would have been a true honor to meet him, and to sit alongside him watching a movie about his life adventures.

I'm looking forward to reading more of these about individuals who have done what they can to make the world a better place, whether that be through business, non-profits, or developing new technologies and scientific discoveries.

Great to see that the conference went well. I know that there were some very important and well-connected attendees. It is also great to see some really good educational articles being published to the Hero site, and looking forward to reading more, and contributing more myself.

What kind of topics would you like to read about for tech, business, crypto and finance?

It is great to see Hero now in live beta. Currently we are building content for the members site, and releasing a few articles for our various web properties, and we will be pushing very hard to bring in paying members after a couple of weeks of operating in live beta to ensure no issues with the functionality of the site (which is looking great).

The resources will be very helpful for women (and anyone) who wants to learn more about business, upskill in areas needed to succeed in business, and people who want to mentor one another, or purchase services from those whose skills they require.

Binance Plans to Seek Regulatory Buy-In for Its Venus Project

https://dcebrief.com/binance-plans-to-seek-regulatory-buy-in-for-its-venus-project/

I see Binance have figured a solution that works much better for companies, without threatening government fiat money hegemony. If they make a few further tweaks to their model, they might have a paper that looks like the one I gave to the New Zealand Reserve Bank Governor more than a year ago. My current understanding is that it requires a lot of multi-agency collaboration to get anything over the line for such approvals -- reserve banks will want control over all money in an economy, meanwhile they will also deflect the creation of stablecoins (or any attempt to raise money using them) as falling under the purview of other agencies. That said, Binance have the brand recognition to get it over the line.

Iran’s Govt Issues New Rules on Cryptocurrency

https://dcebrief.com/irans-govt-issues-new-rules-on-cryptocurrency/

We are amidst the next great Crypto Boom. And DNotes is now at 20 satoshis and falling.

From Paul Graham's Twitter a few days ago...
"The reason most founders are surprised by the difficulty of fundraising is that they're learning something about themselves, not something about fundraising. They know fundraising is hard for startups that don't seem appealing to investors. They just didn't realize they had one."

I've always appreciated the DNotes project. But as it currently stands, there seems to be zero sense of urgency. This project has lost 98% of it's value. And there is little revenue to support funding.

How is the team going to position itself to benefit from this next boom cycle? HERo is a nice idea, but I have been on the Board of a rapidly growing non-profit called MakerGirl, for years. I can tell you that even the most well-marketed, well-meaning projects in the female empowerment space....are still incredibly hard to grow in terms of revenue. Let alone projects which are couched themselves in niches like blockchain.

What else do we got, besides HERo? Any technology or blockchain innovations coming down the line (moving to PoS was always a great North Star for the community to point to)? What other markets and use cases is DNotes approaching?

Alan is wrapping up some business and once we launch the new membership platform, our focus will be entirely on HERo as the first stage of the effort to increase revenue and prove the model for investors. Yes, fundraising is hard and the key investor push-back of revenue was anticipated, though we were hopeful to find the right investors that could see the potential.

The new membership platform is several months in the making and we have been working very hard to not only develop but also working towards building up a team and potential partnerships. It is much more broad in target and groups such as the one you are on the board of will be able to benefit from the platform. The success of the groups based on our research have been dependent upon their ability to branch out and organize locally. That is one of the ways in which HERo will be helpful to these groups, providing them with a platform that makes it easy to collaborate, find people and organize, start local chapters, etc...

We are currently wrapping up development and moving into the testing phase.

Can you also tell more about expected launch date or is it still to early? About one month ago Alan told that he expect official launch in about 60 days...that should mean approximately in one month from now (beginning of September). Is still realistic to expect it then, or did you run in any obstacles which could eventually postopne the launch date?

Yes, as long as we don't encounter any major issues, and we don't anticipate any, then we should be launching end of August or beginning of September.

I must admit that I am little excited about official HERo launch Grin Is everything going according to the plan? Do you have any official launch date yet?

Is there anything else going on behind the scenes that we can look forward to, or all efforts are for now focused on HERo and preparation for official launch? There had not been a lot of updates lately and I am sure that all who are following your project would be interested in a little status update, if nothing else at least just out of curiosity Smiley

Hey Amadeus82,

Currently the website members section is in a live alpha stage. We are currently testing all of the features and looking towards any final changes we want to send to the developer before the official launch, which shouldn't be much longer. We are also looking at some of the initial content for the discussion boards and other information we would like the site to launch with -- because HERo takes features from a combination of Quora, Reddit, and Yelp.  It's been a work in progress and we're really pleased to have it all just about ready to launch.

Hi everyone! Its been a long time since my last post. Those of you who don't know me I have followed and been accumulating dnotes since they were 3 months into development.

Thats great to hear that the hero membership milestone is right around the corner!  Grin For those of you new to Dnotes, this team always has done what they say they were going to do since day one. Yes there are set backs that may take them a little longer to work around most of which seem to be entirely out of there control. In what perfect world are there NO setbacks? Dnotes team and Alan have done a great job sticking to there vision and working around these setbacks... Most of which requires much time and hard work to achieve progress.

"If  DNotes were to succeed as the digital currency of the future with lasting value it has to take a very different path to reach that mountain top. It must build a solid foundation, block by block, systematically, while executing its strategic plans at the most opportune time which may often conflict with that of speculators."
Bitcointalk: March 8th, 2014 - Alan Yong, DNotes co-founder

I know it sucks the price is down however this is entirely out of there control in the present time.. Hey its a uniquely free marketplace. Makes no since to make small efforts of hype to try to keep the price up, it needs to happen organically to have a sustained value which is the objective. Also hype works against there trust factor which will be very important in the future. Clearly they aren't in a happy enough of a position to spend time and money advertising. They're will be a day and it sounds like they're getting to be another step closer.

"I think almost every great investment has a contrarian check. A lot of people will think that’s a bad investment. But you have a good reason for thinking it’s a good investment and it will get to scale. Those are typically the unusually great investments."
-Reid Hoffman

I personally believe Dnotes has the right team and dedication to make their vision get to scale. It just takes a lot of time and hard work. I believe in their vision and team which is why I'm still around. Team keep up the great work!

“Very often when you are going for real innovation you have to go against prevailing wisdom, and it’s hard to go against prevailing wisdom when there are people who have been there for a long time and you have some vice president who says, ‘No, that doesn’t make sense.’ ”
Dr. Robert Langer, MIT Langer Labs

Kudos to MiningHabit for gathering these quotes together!

That's a great response MrBum805, and a fair reflection of the current state of things, but also where we plan to go. As in all things, you don't get to control everything that happens to you, but you do get to control how you respond. We came up with new strategies to bring in revenues so that we could fund development and also attract investment to the company, which will both get us closer to where we need to get to. Instead of a very direct path from A to B, we have had to add an extra step in between that will improve the overall company position.

We are preparing to get everything ready for the HERo membership launch, and to support it once the platform goes live. There will be demand for content, and we will have paying members that we will be looking to cater for and support.

Just checking in too. Taking a bit of time to catch up on cryptos. Wish I'd done that earlier. A coin I love got delisted from Bittrex while I wasn't paying attention which is disappointing. DNotes price isn't too exciting but I know the team is doing the right thing. I soooo can't wait for our own exchange (sick of having to rely on what's available now)! But I know that's a bit further down on the list... I am swamped with my own stuff so still can't do much, but working through things one by one. My wallet minting and CRISP is doing great Smiley

Industries aren't reformed in a day, so keep up the good work. It will pay off!

Appreciate it Wiser, thanks for checking in and stopping by to say hi. I agree, we are absolutely doing the right thing for the longevity and progress of DNotes.

It is nice to see that team is still working hard, I am really looking forward to the official launch of HERo. With funds from HERo, I believe that DNotes will get some fresh air into the lungs and great things would start happening again with the development of the coin and the ecosystem around it Cool

We are too Amadeus, thank you!

Yeah, it's not looking like it is going to take much longer for the initial release. I know that Alan has been talking to many people who plan to contribute to HERo when it launches -- and then some! As the first steady revenue generating business property within DNotes Global, HERo will give us some much needed breathing room and allow us to to compound that revenue growth to reach all of our next targets.

EU Banks Urged to Adopt Real-Time Payment System to Meet Fintech Challenge

https://dcebrief.com/eu-banks-urged-to-adopt-real-time-payment-system-to-meet-fintech-challenge/

Some of them are already implementing technology for transactions that take less than 5 seconds. They feel the pressure a lot.

That pressure and competition is great for everyone. I imagine banks will be able to match up with some of the advantages that digital currency brings to the table as well as adopt other non-fiat digital currencies to keep a larger market share and combine the advantages where possible. Being able to manage your own funds is a great option but factors like speed, convenience, protection, trust, cost and value will be more important to the majority of users. Our vision is that the user will be able to decide how to manage their funds best and the level of risk and protection that is best for some or all of their funds.

So is DNotes putting their name in the hat? Have you reached out to them?

Reached out to who and putting our name in the hat for what? The article was about Etrienne Goosse from the European Payment Council making a statement to urge EU banks to step up and compete with the emerging fintech technologies.

Well, reaching out to the EU banks and saying this is what we have and using DNotes Global as a stepping stone to possibly assist them with what they need. Kind of like a sales person would do. Just simply say "hey we are here and we exist and can possibly assist you in what the European Counsel is trying to push them with. What if the EU banks decide to go with what they are requesting? Then the DNotes name could be someone they look at for assistance if the want to move forward with such a venture. If a EU bank decides to go forward they will reach out to Fintech? who would they reach out to?

They would reach out to someone who represents their interests the best. That's how they work. They don't want innovation, they want to preserve their position for as long as possible at the lowest cost.

Innovative is not important but in order to attract the community at least, they need to show their developments because without any improvement it is impossible to sustain in the crypto market.

That is true to a degree. Many of the larger banks are investing heavily in financial technology businesses and more niche banks to try and capture the emergent market share under their business umbrella. A PWC report I read estimated that the banks only have about five years until Silicon Valley firms begin to eat into their market share. The banks will need to do something soon.

Alan had this to share with one of the members in our community via LinkedIn, which was shared to telegram. I thought I'd cross post it over here.

The question the member asked was: "How are things going with HERo and Dnotes? You haven't been active in the Telegram channel for quite a while and things seem to have gone very quiet recently! I understand that the membership version of HERo is close to launching. Is there a lot of interest from external parties?"

Alan's reply is as follows:

"Good to hear from you. My summer schedule is usually overwhelming but far more so this year.

I used to respond to every message within 24 hours. It is no longer possible – including yours, though always given top priority. For reference, as of this morning I have 1,400 emails unopened, and 100+ Linked messages yet to be responded to. Yes, it is overwhelming, and I must pick and choose for the best use of my time.

I just did a quick read of Telegram after weeks of absence. It is difficult to justify allocating precious time to engage in some of the discussions. Tim is representing us well and I will continue to stay out of it. Tim will continue to support Telegram, and Joe will support the DNotes Forum. My focus is on HERo. I am also involved in other private projects, as I always have.

HERo is doing extremely well. We have been investing very heavily in developing our membership platform. We are at the final stages of coding and expect to start testing soon. An official launch in 60 days is expected.

HERo is opening many new doors for us. This is turning out to be a more amazing initiative for us than we ever anticipated. I can target anyone in our industry; women or men or outside of our industry – in technology, finance and entrepreneurship, and get a 10% positive response. I have never seen anything remotely close to this level of success rate.

HERo is our best pathway to the corporate world to become the truly inclusive trusted global digital currency.

Success in business is a process, often more complicated and challenging than initially anticipated. Our vision has been clearly defined with a road-map. Like most business ventures, it has taken longer, cost more, and challenged with more problems than anticipated. However, what we are going through is nothing unusual in the real business world.

The best use of my time is a total focus on HERo and convert it to become our first revenue generating business unit with a substantial global network. That will lead to the success of other projects as laid out on our road-map.
A very detailed response from Alan with some fantastic information for everyone to digest. The interest in HERo seems to be significant and keeping Alan busy making new connections. A rough time estimate of 2 months has been provided for the membership platform and with the significant levels of external interest may help to drive things forward!"

NANO is up $1 to 1$ to 1.96 since getting on Binance. Funny they have a lot of the same features as DNotes. You can argue the differences but they are moving up and we aren't. They are not even advertising either but they are and up. I guess the Dev's took a chance and probably made there money back in the last month after signing with Binance. I know it looks like DNotes is just trying to get everything free. In today's world, not going to happen!

Well, to be fair, Nano will be funded from when it had a market cap of 4 billion dollars ($31 per coin) and a liquid market within which to liquidate coins -- the founders would have certainly used some of the gains to fund continued expansion. Instead of selling coins onto the market, we are looking to generate external revenue with which we can continue funding DNotes. We do not know the circumstances or arrangement of Nano's inclusion on Binance, but comparing us to a coin that once pump and dumped up to a 4 billion dollar market cap is not a reasonable comparison.

We haven't been trying to get anything for free, we have made applications and offers at all the exchanges that we want to be listed on. We are well aware that getting onto larger exchanges will boost liquidity / trading volumes and likely result in a boost for the coin (and this will likely happen whenever we list). We are also aware that we need to build revenue structures into DNotes Global which will make it a more attractive investment to traditional investors who include revenue and traction as one of their investment metrics. If you build an ecosystem of profitable business units that earn the company seeking investment money, while also working to grow its exposure to various groups (business groups, crypto news followers, women's tech groups etc) then it is looked at favorably by such investors.

It's turning out to be an interesting day for Bitcoin -- many were very apprehensive over which way the likely sharp movement would be based on the charts, and I think many will be happy to see that the price has made a fairly big jump upwards of around 13% at the time I wrote this. I still expect the markets to go sideways for some time yet, but this is a welcome movement for general market sentiment.

Report Claims 95 Percent of Bitcoin Trading is Fake

https://dcebrief.com/report-claims-95-percent-of-bitcoin-trading-is-fake/

This is a very concerning report that will surprise nobody. There are many exchanges that trade on their own exchanges or fake the reported volumes to coinmarketcap so that they can trick people into thinking there is lots of trading going on, which has let them get away in many instances in selling listing to crypto projects for 10-20 times what the price should have been. This has been one of the issues DNotes has faced, with many 30-200k offers to list on cryptocurrency exchanges that are probably only doing a few million dollars a day in volume. The objective is to get onto one of the larger and more reputable exchanges that can be trusted, and thus deliver value for the community.

HERo lunched just two months ago, continues to thrive globally, opening new doors to women self-empowerment in more ways than we had imagined possible. Apparently, people love the name and the tag line - “The Hero For Change and Equality is You,” I like the possibilities that, together, we can collaborate to help change the world for the better. We can encourage and inspire women to join force to help each other to achieve the best of success in life, career, and business.

Thank you very much to those who have worked hard to support HERo in different ways, including contribution of original content articles, assisted in interviews, liked and shared our posts, and much more. I also deeply appreciate those who expressed an interest to help us advance our cause, as well as those who are working hard to submit their first article. We want to continue to pack HERo with inspiring and informational contents. Please keep them coming. HERo’s continued success will enable us to migrate to phase two – a platform for volunteers, pro bono contributors, and other service providers to offer free and paid services. We also plan to include lenders, investors, VCs, and other resources later. This is the global hub for women of the world. Help us to make it the best possible.

I am honored to have met Shellie Hunt, a true inspiration and a role model: https://nextgenhero.io/entrepreneurship/shellie-hunt-founder-of-the-women-of-global-change-wgc-says-this-is-the-best-time-for-women-to-release-their-full-human-potential-go-big-and-go-global/

Best Regards,

Alan

Well done on interviewing such a credible and high-profile person Alan. It is clear from Shellie's bio that she's seen everything unfold and knows the story of empowerment better than most as a top motivational / inspirational speaker. Shellie is one of the many top experts who could end up offering services through the HERo platform, and the services listed in the post will make for a highly-connected community.

https://www.quora.com/What-do-you-look-for-in-an-investment#ans127013901

This popped up in my email and it is a good read about what an investor really looks for in an investment. It helps, in a way, to explain why we are doing certain things. We recognize the enormous task of trying to create a new model for money, one that is very unique to DNotes and developed in a way that we envisioned the money of the future would look like in an ideal world. A balance of business, ecosystem, and the currency itself with decentralization where it matters most and hybrid or centralized approaches where they make the most sense.

As such, we have to find unique ways to grow, and this is in reference to the third point in the article as it may be the most difficult concept. HERo, DCEBrief, Four Pillars, and NextGenVC fall under the category of DNotes adoption, gaining mind share, and integration into the greater ecosystem of the future. These are critical components to our success. Right now they are growing parts and the foundation of our infrastructure that can be rapidly expanded. Given the current state of our industry and sentiment, these components are the highest priority and providing us a good deal of traction for growing our network and reach.

That was a really cool answer from a highly accomplished investor. The third factor is that he likes to see strong insights around how the product will grow -- especially organically rather than paid growth. This usually comes down to relationships one has with companies that could help the business grow (say a sports app knowing the owners of the NFL and NBA), and particularly relationships with potential consumers who have the ability to influence masses of others to use your brand or product.

The DNotes family of businesses have been designed to expand out to reach new groups of people, and garner their support. More strategic partners can be vital when it comes to raising significant sums of investment from the best and our current approach is conducive to that end.

Winklevoss Twins: Regulation Needed to Address Crypto ‘Trust Problem’

https://dcebrief.com/winklevoss-twins-regulation-needed-to-address-crypto-trust-problem/

Trust is invaluable in financial services. DNotes is always committed to be the inclusive and trusted digital currency since the day of launch five years ago.

I agreed that for digital currencies to furnish and resume its rapid growth path there must be some rules and regulations to facilitate consumer protection, efficiency, orderly conduct, and secured storage of assets.

I think the twins make a fair point, that we need to fix the trust issue within the industry -- and I think a lot of that regulation is the government opening up the existing system to cryptocurrency so that professionals can come in and work towards that improved reputation. Though the fact cannot be discounted that they are pushing for regulations that would add costs and stifle competition for Gemini, and thus, industry innovation would be limited to existing club.

Agreed. That's always been the main danger of anything more expansive than light-touch government regulation. Where government extensively regulates, you have large industry players lobbying to shape rules that tend to block smaller startups from entering the market. That's why a light-touch approach is the only way to remain innovative and competitive. Good observation, T.

There are multiple beneficial scenarios that I can see going forward:

One is that some of the regulatory agencies make decisions that would see the financial system opened up to cryptocurrencies. This would allow them to be networked properly with the traditional financial system. Regulatory oversight of many players could be beneficial, but I believe this would best be within the capacity of forced transparency and adherence to best practices -- as opposed to expensive licencing and costly regulatory requirements that can cost hundreds of thousands, perhaps even millions to comply with.

The other would be what some agents in the space are doing, whereby they actively publish daily data, proof of funds, solvency and other materials that prove the health of the project or business. There is also the possibility that independent agencies can give 'approval stamps' or other such things in a much more cost-efficient manner than otherwise. However, there would need to be checks to ensure that these independent agencies are not as prone to corruption -- for example two audits could be conducted by two separate appraisers that do not know one another and do not work in the same division (one is out of city). Each company would be appraised twice per year (once by each appraiser). I'm sure they could think of some fancy way to use blockchain to mitigate potential corruption -- though I think there will be better strategies than the above going forward that can promote transparency in the medium term.

Either way, it's good to see people moving along in the space -- though most of that effort has been to turn cryptocurrency into a wing of traditional finance. The Winkelevoss twins want to be an additional intermediary to take a clip off the ticket when you make payments. The opportunities and cost reductions that cryptocurrencies offer make them comparably more profitable than existing systems, and could make it much easier to bank those in developing nations.

Bloomberg: Major Banks Continuing to Deny Service to Crypto Companies

https://dcebrief.com/bloomberg-major-banks-continuing-to-deny-service-to-crypto-companies/

This is regrettable, but consumer options will slowly but surely force the larger banks to play ball.
