I'm not surprised they own or want to invest in crypto during bullish rally. If the survey had bee conducted in March there would have been no such result.

yeah, it feels like BTC gold rush reached institutional investors too, lol
It seems like many people are going to be part of Bitcoin, and this is just the start. I think more and more people should get involved, and at this rate, this would reach an all-time high. I think more people are noticing it. I hope people would start acting on it and support Bitcoin. I feel FOMO just reading news about this, lol.

Another big investment firm SkyBridge is seeking approval from SEC to enter crypto-market. Source:https://cointelegraph.com/news/another-mainstream-company-is-seeking-approval-to-invest-in-crypto Looks like a new spin of the rally is coming from Wall-street, which is good for adoption.
We definitely not sure then what is their plan as they are very aggressive accumulating Bitcoin but even they are buying more, it doesn't give worries to us. These numbers of 2% plus versus the total amount of market supply, that is an only small amount and it don't have a huge impact on the market.
We don't mind about the 51% market attack. This is not the way it looks like. It is something to say that Grayscale is getting prepared for future changes. And they are doing it earlier, there is nothing to worry about and probably many companies have done this silently.

Yeah, at least Grayscale is a public company but we never know other whales intentions and how many bitcoins they accumulate.
In my opinion such BTC stockpiling can be dangerous like a 51% attack but I didn't find any information is Satoshi Nakomoto ever mentioned that.
Not at all.
that attack doesn't work in this case as explained above. And even them stockpiling almost 3% (506000) of the current supply (18.5M) is kind of a nonissue considering we're talking about an investment company rather than a single or several anonymous whales hodling the coins, now that would be worrisome cuz you'll never know if they're try to crash the market or whatever.
As long as Coinbase Custory [1] are keeping the coins safe, it's all good.
yeah, the card is a cool feature but must have some limitation, kyc process and stuff, anyway I wouldn't switch to some new exchange from my old proven ones
If you are wanting to venture into new exchanges here is one where you can buy and exchange not only Bitcoin but Ethereum, Litecoin, Tap and Huobi Tokens all at the click of a button - let me know what you think: https://www.tap.global/
I just saw it in in the last post he make you can read details here about their exchange https://www.tap.global/how-taps-liquidity-pool-actually-works It's a crypto exchange with euro Fiat currency avaialbe in them. The only thing I like is the card nothing more interesting I read to what they can offer for users.

Wow! I just feel so sorry for you and your people in Philippines.May God bring peace and good! How can a health institution scam people? What did they do?
Philippines, the most corrupt country in the whole world is just so corrupt that god himself stood from his chair and said "fuck you, 1 typhoon isnt enough for you all", sent 2 typhoons that devasted a whole city. A typhoon that devastated with the wind, another one that flooded a whole city, and now a 6.1 magnitude that just strucked us this morning.
Because you know what? A HEALTH institution "PHILHEALTH" just scammed everyone 15 BILLION pesos. Imagine our health institution scamming us DURING corona times when we REALLY need as much help as we can. I just cant believe this. Now god just cant stand our country anymore.
I wont be surprise if god just wiped off our country. Probably flood it completely.

I understand that Satoshi meant 51% hashrate, I just made a comparison but as in the previous reply mentioned that Grayscale accumulated on 2.29% of the entire BTC market cap it's not that large.
There's no correlation between 51% attack and have lots of Bitcoin. What you need for 51% attack is 51% hashrate, which means lots of ASIC or access to ASIC.

The biggest crypto fund Grayscale Bitcoin Trust bought another 15 114 BTC last week and fund's crypto AUM is almost $10B with 506 000 BTC. In my opinion such BTC stockpiling can be dangerous like a 51% attack but I didn't find any information is Satoshi Nakomoto ever mentioned that.

I really don't think it's a scam, I believe it's a first trial step for PayPal and if they see some profit making opportunity they will take it and some more features for users will come later.

Re: USA government power over Bitcoin
by
Teresa_FX1
on 13/11/2020, 11:05:55 UTC
I wouldn't generalize the whole US goverment because there are different people with different opinions but there are powerful groups and lobby that want to control everything including bitcoin. They have a right to do this because they think that even if $1 is involved they can interfere. That's why many crypto-exchanges don't allow US citizens to use their services or platfroms. Since $ is widely used in commerce and as a reserved currency that's why they have real power over many other jurisdictions or...they may impose different sanctions on those who disobey. World financial system simply can not operate without US that's why many have to listen to SEC and FinCEN say about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies otherwise they won't be able to operate or be very limited. Look at Iran for example.

Right, I don't worry about it that much, just keep it in mind and observe volatility
I guess expiry is more of the concern for institutional investors.
It is on their side but you and I as a typical investor, we don't have to care about it. But if you want to use those expiries, you can use it as a reference and treat it that there's something about to happen if they are about to expire. Other than that, it's what I think that you can use for checking prices.

Thanks, helpful article. I guess expiry is more of the concern for institutional investors.
For me, we can include the Bitcoin options expiry on one of the reasons for the bitcoin price, BUT for me, it's just the price volatility itself will be affected, no more. If you can check this article by coindesk, they also mentioned the Bitcoin volatility-related with the Bitcoin options expiry : Scary Bitcoin volatility? $750M in BTC options set to expire for Halloween.

Hello fellow traders, Maybe this topic was in the forum before, I'm new. Do you think options expiry is important for the price of bitcoin or it's just irrelevant? I observed a few past bitcoin options expiry as I read some news about it but did not notice any major impact on the bitcoin price.
