What the f***?

That's what lack of competition will do. Bitmain claim's this is their last run of s5's. I hope they have something in the works for the next generation or mining will be hard for the average joe.

Remember that guy with the two blown chips and the side panels looked like they were doing the wave about two months ago? This is probably what happened to him. I thought something didn't add up in his story. Maybe he was the first to have this happen to his S5, it would explain the warping issue he had.

Colorado

That explains a lot.

*** Emoticon will continue to be used under this account.  This is a community forum and the MOD placed the emoticon to be used.  It is not simply the business communication platform.

Gun stores provide Guns and ammo. Does that mean that I should start shooting up the place because they made the guns and ammo available to be used? There's a time and place for everything. I feel as a representative of a business you should not be using them. I own a small online store. I have 8 people working for me. Two of them work the different social media outlets. I would fire them if they used emoticons. When they respond to customers to address a problem or explain a product or anything else they represent my company. On their own facebook or twitter accounts I don't care what they choose to post. Now, if my business was to make and sell emoticons, then I would emoticon every post or update I made, but I don't, so I don't. I would like for my customers if they do run into a problem with my product to believe that they could contact me and get the problem resolved, instead of asking for help and getting  Grin Grin Grin as a response.

But you know it's just my opinion. I have no confidence in clowns, and that is what I feel your portraying Bitmain Tech as. Until I see a change I will not place any orders with Bitmain, because if for any reason I do have an issue with their product I don't want  Grin Grin Grin as a response to me losing money.

I have said my peace and will not make any further comments on this issue. Yes, it is an issue whether you believe it to be or not. I know some people are placing orders with Bitmain because they are the only one taking orders right now. I hope no has any problems with the equipment they have ordered. good luck to everyone in their mining adventures.

Wink

Seriously? I have lost all respect for bitmain as a company. Is it being run by a bunch of guys in high school? No, really I want to know. Go to a local business school and ask one of the professors if emoticons are a proper form of communication for a business. If you want to emoticon text messages to your friends until you wear out your phone, go ahead no one cares what you and your friends do. This is a business. Can you please start treating it like one?

@OpenToe

Yoshi asked us to post this for you and others who need this info.

This is the fan spec for S5

Dimension: 120*120*38mm
Voltage: 12V
Start voltage: ≧8V (Power ON/OFF)
Power consumption: 1600RPM 1.68W / 4000RPM 25.8W
Rated current: DutyCycle 100% @ 2.15A
Air Flow: 4000RPM @ 178.3CFM (Max be 239CFM)
Noise: 4000RPM @ 56.7 dB-A (Measured in a Non-EchoChamber)
Life Expectancy: 40,000 hrs @ 25℃  (May degrade faster at higher temperature)
Connector: 2510-4P

you can use alternative fans, but please remember, that will void your warranty.  When you consider other fans, please pay close attention to the Voltage, RPM, CFM and the power connector!!!

S2, S3, S4, S5 and C1 fans will soon be available for sale from USA.

Also, Bitmain does not endorse any third party solutions, however, CryptoGlance is a nice status reporting system Yoshi even uses time to time as well as M's Miner.  (Both solution works for any CGMINER API enabled Bitcoin Miners.

M's Miner Monitor can also interact with the miners and it is not just the status monitoring system.

Let's say I have several Antminers, could be 5 or 50.  Is there a program that would allow me to monitor all the data from the Status Page ?  ie:

Elapsed    GH/S(5s)    GH/S(avg) FoundBlocks LocalWork Utility WU BestShare Pool    URL    User    Status    Diff    GetWorks    Priority    Accepted      Diff1#    DiffA#    DiffR#    DiffS#      Rejected    Discarded    Stale    LSDiff    LSTime  Chain#    ASIC#    Frequency    Temp    ASIC status Fan#    Fan1    Fan2    Fan3    Fan4
Speed (r/min)

Obviously not in that format !   Ideally it would be in a grid (like excel) with miners on one axis and selectable info on the other.  And periodic refresh too  Smiley

You can try M's Monitor too. I've personally never used it, but I think it list all of the miner's on the local network, here's a link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=596178.0

who is buying 500 units and those 1600 units? don't there sell at 1 unit or 2 unit?

Batch 5 is for 1 to 1599 units. Batch 6 is for 1600 units. Those that are buying 50+ are contacting bitmain to try to get a deal.

@ThatsMe

If you have an uncleared order, as we announced repeatedly, it is being processed day and night manually.  Please let us know the orderID if your order is being listed as UNPAID or EXPIRED.

If the order status remain unchanged for more than 24 hours, please let us know your OrderID and Payment address.  You can reach us at info@bitmaintech.com

Thank you

I don't have and order. I was just venting my frustration at the lack of professionalism that is being portrayed here. Maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion you shouldn't be joking with the customers that are clearly frustrated by this ddos attack. Yes it does affect you, but it also affects your customers who place orders. Who knows, maybe it's because you've had 3 hours of sleep since this started and your starting to hallucinate from the lack of sleep. But, emoticons were used before the ddos attack was announced so, probably not.

Apparently their's enough time to come up with some cartoons, but not enough time to clear up repeated complaints about purchases not being confirmed. Also, I don't understand why bitman is taking this ddos attack is a big joke. " Grin Grin Grin" wouldn't be my reaction to someone doing a ddos on my website. I don't think any part of this is funny. Whoever is dictating for bitmainwarranty needs to take a class in business etiquette. We're not in high school anymore. " Grin Grin Grin" is a poor response from a business at any time unless your business is selling jokes. I don't currently have any orders with bitmain. I thought $320 was a hair high, the price jump plus the lead time was enough to deter me from placing an order.

Happy Pi day everyone.

Bfl has sent 3 or 4 emails  to me offering a monarch for sale since march 2nd

Ha, me too. And in the email they explained that they still haven't shipped miners ordered in 2013.  Sign me up for a two year waiting list.

That was sarcastic for thoses who didn't get it.

Three month lead-time on batch 6? That seems a little excessive, and borders more on a straight pre-order than batch production.

It seems more of a "we may or may not produce this batch depending on sales" to me.
it is nice to see it priced better.

I've sold one of my S3 miners, will sell my next one and a coin craft to help fund my S5. I was juggling between this and the jackson but I believe this is better on the wallet in terms of power consumption. I lost $19 AUD on my S3 miners which I ran for about 3 - 4 months but I'm not fussed, I made some bitcoin!

Hold your horses back! There's currently no way to buy either an S5 or an SP20...

Bad times truly .... tried to order an Avalon 4.1 and total comes to BTC 2.14 including shipping with DHL to UK (not that there is choice of shipper either!)! What a rip-off! My S5 cost a whopping BTC 1.1 shipped (after applying voucher).

Patience... i even got a loan on BTCJam to buy an additional unit, and Wham! No S5 for me Sad Good thing i have enough hashing power to cover the loan.... but this tests one's patience...

ebay for the expensive win!

~ $500 plus shipping without PSU
~ $650 plus shipping with PSU

Yeah, i would need to sell a kidney to get one of those... j/k

I want it direct from Bitmain, rather have it late than have it wrecked and without warranty.

Those guys probably got them when bitmain was selling them for $315. $175+ profit plus whatever they mined while waiting to be resold. Wish I thought of it.

Not the most complete description but I take it there is an inflow and outflow pipe pair to the tank moving the Novec to an external radiator to exhaust heat and a second inflow and outflow pair to the condenser also to an external radiator?  Ah, found it.  One gallon offered for sale @ $379.95.

This is off topic but the Novec fluid doesn't get pumped anywhere. This video should explain it better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6ErbZtpL88

Back on topic. Bitmain, I'm ready to purchase more S5's. With the price of BTC creeping up I think it would be worthwhile.

It's been done large scale. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=346134.0
And small scale.

bobsaq3 and sidehack are spot on at stock/factory clock rates.
We prefer to allow a little more head room for OC'ing the Prisma's and hence have migrated to one DPS-1600BB per Prisma.
OC'ing a Prisma only makes financial sense if the cost per Kwh is low ($0.08/KWh or less).

Then there are the heat dissipation issues that come with filling a room/Data Center with OC'ed Prisma's.
Pursuant to that we are prototyping Open Bath Immersion (OBI) cooling using the 3M Novec Engineered Fluids in custom built polycarbonate immersion tanks.
With the ultimate goal of immersing 32 OC'ed Prisma hash boards, controlled by an RPi w/wireless, in an OBI tank powered by 5 DPS-2000's.
Power consumption should be ~10Kw per tank and dissipate ~32K BTU continuously, enough to heat the average American sized home in a Minnesota winter AND GET PAID TO DO IT.
The residual/excess heat could be used to heat a garage, heat a driveway, heat sidewalks, melt snow off of the roof, heat a pool/hot tub/fish pond, etc. . . . . . .

Our Youtube channel (PlanetCrypto) has some videos of our initial testing.

Initial testing of 24x Tube Erupter boards in a Walmart fishtank:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meOf0FJBkGA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_yfHJ8yoh8

A polycarbonate immersion tank with 2x Bitmain S3+ hash boards:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcb9TyQP5ZA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fStHV_Q-x7s

We no longer power the fan in the S3+ tank as it is not required for condensation.
The heat generated from the S3+ tank supplements the in-floor heat in our little DC.
We have laid PEX in the ground outside the DC as a place to dump excess heat in upcoming expanded systems.

When we get a 32 Prisma board system up and running we'll post some vid's on the channel.

I have wanted to do it myself and have come up with a few designs for tanks, but don't have the capital to get started. Good luck.

I've been doing some calculations and at the moment it seems that nobody is near ROI with this miner.

If you received it on Jan 1 2015, and you had FREE ELECTRICITY and you sold all your BTC during that price spike on Jan 25 2015, you would have made a profit of $165 till todays date.

But its rare that everybody sold on Jan 25th at ~310BTC/USD and rare that most have free electricity.

Taking the average price using moving averages of the last few weeks and average power rates you would have made only $60 to date with this miner. Why did they sell it at such a high price?

I sold mine for more than I paid for them. They mined for about 30 days. So was paid to mine for 30 days minus the cost of electricity. I did ROI on the 3 S5's that I had. I had them all overclocked. Two of them averaged 1.34 th/s and the other was 1.36 th/s all of them at 412. Running free air style cooling in north Florida. I still have all of the BTC that I mined and converted the funds from selling the S5's to BTC when the price was about $210. I sold the miners because I'm moving and won't have any room for them at the new place.

I have an S5 that I received last week that has a dead blade. What's the best way to RMA it? I'm located in the US.

Did you try to switch to a different port on the control board? I read somewhere that switching to a different port on the control board fix a dead board.

Assuming it was not done on purpose and it was done on a standard freq of 350  this could mean the s-5 has the same problems Asic Miner prismas had.  Runaway thermals.

Time will tell if it is the case or if this is a rare case.  So far 1 person has had the problem.  Thousands have been sold.

So 1/2000 popped a pair of caps. Pretty safe we have seen  more then 1 burned sp20.

My s-5 will continue to run at a solid over clock. Here it is right now.

http://imagize[Suspicious link removed]ageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/903/v3Wkgh.png

Here's mine. I tried 425 but got the same hash rate with about 10 times the hw errors. I took a screen shot on my phone. I love winter. For mining at least. My S5 in in the garage with an ambient temperature at 18.5 C The second fan is from a S1.
