Block reward has went down. XDN looks underpriced to me, mining is becoming less profitable so my guess is that everyone will buy XDN instead of mine. Same picture can be seen (for a while now) in Bitcoin.

How do you chase waves if you don't keep your finger on the coin's pulse. You kinda have to follow the threads in order to know whats going on. I don't think traders are that stupid to neglect information the may have an impact on price.
I'm astonished with the encrypted messages, this looks amazing. So does DarkNote provides both anonymous transactions and messages, right? I think this might be huge, I'd better check it out.

That is partly true but US is sort of a trendsetter for Europe and others puppet countries. If US signs the Bitcoin regulation into law the rest of the world may follow suit.

There's not much of price action going on. Everybpody's just sitting on their coins and that is not exactly a perfect condition for daytrading.

Looking good, much more informative. Maybe not the major wallet update we have been eagerly awaiting but it's certainly a step in the right direction.
It's much less confusing and more importantly, it just WORKS.
Gosh I can't wait to lay my hands on the real version!

Testnet usage of Darksend has died down and it's shifted to mainnet. I don't think it's a bug, it's just there's no one that has your combination of denominations to merge with. You have a couple of options:
1.) Start a second client and anonymize the same amount. They'll seek each other out and should work fine.

Evan and the entire team have done amazing work, that's for sure. As for exploiting that work to the maximum of the potential (price wise), I'd suggest avoiding a ninja launch for RC5. If you think you need 2 weeks to open source the code and finish RC5, say it's going to be released on a fixed date in 3 weeks. Cryptos do need some hype and build up price wise and since people usually buy the rumor and sell the news, when you announce the news without the rumor, expectations are lowered.

I know it's not all about the price, but there's seemingly no reason to not get a few waves going and make some headlines that way too. "Darkcoin RC5 incoming, price rises 250% in anticipation"

The average IT project implementation timeline is 3-5 years
This project is 8 months old, marketing will happen when the team is ready.

More than XMR has achieved in six months.
Don't even think about asking the XMR folk about a GUI wallet, you get 1 of 2 answers:
1) If you're too stupid to use a command line interface you shouldn't be holding XMR.
2) Bitcoin didn't have a GUI wallet when it first came out.

I've heard that it is a part of Monero's wider strategy to lauch GUI wallet along with the all-out marketing campaign. They are looking to increase their user base by launching a GUI but it's not going to work. Unlike the original cryptonote developers, these shnooks don't even know how their code works. Besides, the rotten smear campaigns that Monero shills seem to be so versed in are not getiing the desired effect. Monero is no competition for DRK by any standart.

DRK market cap is still 50% higher than XMR. The fact that XMR has been on a bit of a tear of late is a good thing for DRK - shows there is still interest in anonymous altcoins. Some positive news on darkcoin and folks will be buying it up fast.
Ya, it takes more than that to faze me anyway! The current price is meaningless. The future is brightly dark!

Monero is not a competition for DRK anyway. The word is out that their network is infested with botnets and that's where the hashing power comes from.

CPU based coins are mostly mined by botnets. What does it have to do with alghorithm compexity? I don't get your point.

I believe that darkcoin deserves a position in the top 5 cryptocurrencies by marketcap. That means more than a double from these prices. The right combination of product releases, market sentiment, and news should get us there. My 2 duffs.
That'd be awesome to replace litecoin from #2 position. It's a long way until that can be done though. More efforts should be directed to marketing.

The crisis in Cyprus happened to be the initial catalyst for the big increase in the BTC price. After the country was bailed-out people rushed to their bank accounts to withdraw funds and a lot ended up putting the money into bitcoin. As for the incredibly high price by the end of 2013, the demand for BTC in China in november was so high that some prices quoted on Chinese exchanges were almost double compared to exchanges outside the country. The rest of the world has been buying bitcoins to try and sell them to Chinese. Don't fool yourself with this tax idea.
