Re: Tips on how to save money.

I know this might sound mean, but stop buying social things.

Like everyone brainwashes you that you're supposed to drink coffee. So you're buying  $3 coffees sometimes 2x a day. Then you probably have vending machine food that'she another 1.65$ per day... and you hit the bar on the weekend/weekday... so that is upwards of $20+

So you're looking at upwards of $90 you could be saving per month by not buying these junk foods or going out socially.

Re: Arbitrage Opportunity - Easy Money - Using Korean Exchange.

Kevin is not answering my emails...

This is most likely a scam.

There is no easy way to do this because the problem is getting the money out of the country.

This has been tried many times in the past.

I know this might sound obvious... but what if you just withdrew the cash then used that to buy USD at anight airport?

Or buy a debit card and fill it with your bank account, then send the debit card overseas...

And Koreans can use paypal, yes? So they can convert to paypal funds too.

If all fails... just buy gold or silver at a gold/silver exchange, thus converting your funds to gold /silver, then giving the exchange account access to your partner?

Re: Future : Bitcoin Lighting Network
by

What do you think about this technology ?

Well, it isn't ready yet, so it's quite early to judge. But the idea itself is great.

You're wrong on this, bitcoin's lightning network is already been implemented (although its not fully operational) but lightning network nodes are now running.

Here's a reference.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7tbuly/the_lightning_network_now_has_5x_more_nodes_and/
https://cointelegraph.com/news/original-pizza-day-purchaser-does-it-again-with-bitcoin-lightning-network

Yeah well, I've read some people argue that LN, doesn't really help btc, it keeps everything in fiat or something.... and they say it goes against btc principles

My country exchange control is the weirdest thing you have ever seen. They are quite comfortable with you importing all sorts of junk from overseas, and paying with your credit card (via PayPal), but receiving money is a problem. Quite the opposite from what one would expect to be rational.

EFT (Interbank Transfer) is probably the best, but there are high transaction costs, so it doesn't work for small amounts - you may have to pay between USD30 to USD50 per transaction, and a fee on this side. There will also be Exchange Control paperwork on this side, you should discuss that with the bank before you go.

But I’m glad that I have bitcoins because I can send bitcoins or received bitcoins in a flash and the transaction fees is very low. You even don’t have to show your identification card like you must do at your bank.

Your story, sir. Is the epitome of why satoshi created bitcoin. Financial independence from country and company limitations

Re: The next 1000 dollars valuation of crypto currency eth ltc or monero?
by

on 06/03/2018, 02:38:52 UTC
It's obviously eth... it was already over 1k, so it will return because everyone expects it to.

Ltc and monero were never 1k, so traders will be too scared to buy when it goes over a certain price

He has good FUD.

But then I guess Windows is directly killing children. Most pedos use Windows when they groom children.

I say we ban Windows. It's not even compatible with most crypto.

Who else is really happy we might hit 15k soon XD!

I think the recent pump is due to the startups all over the news saying they're adopting btc.

I'm really liking this. The market is healthier now. Can't argue with a price pump lol.

I saw some good news from the banks too. Like Bank of America and a uk bank saying they're planning on getting into crypto

Re: Why do you ❤️ crypto???

I love the way crypto can connect people from a different culture.
With crypto you don’t need bank account who needs al your private data.
Just make a wallet and you can receive payments from everyone in the world.

But my question is why do you love crypto?
Why are you interested?

At first I was into crypto for the 19x. Now I'm in it for the ease of being able to store cash by myself.

I also like the idea of buying and selling goods with crypto.

No verification, no ID. Just coins from one place to another,  simple

Re: How do you run out of gas? Eth failed transaction question
by
Tictocgroup
on 01/03/2018, 12:00:37 UTC
This guy could have had no experience in transacting his eth before. For a normal transaction to be carried out in ethereum blockchain the total amount of gas will cost around 21000. While creating a smart contract more gas volume will be required. For instance while creating smart contract for handling Omise go costed around 1197000 gas. Indeed a huge volume which means more complex a transaction is, the more gas we need to use up for transacting.

A transaction could fail when Transaction gas volume exceeds the block gas limit. But in this case it was a complex transaction which required huge gas and that 21000 gas was not sufficient for the transaction to complete. He should have used 20gwei as price per gas and should have used very high gas volume which could have made the transaction pass.

You may not end up in such a situation as high gas volume are very rare and if you are doing a normal transaction just use 21000 gas and 20gwei gas price for it to conform. The base theory of ethereum transaction is similar to a taxi ride you are going mate. If you need to travel longer distances use higher fuel how complex the route might be. Our routes are simple mate which require 21000 gas so don't worry.
Hope this answer helps

Thanks so much. This really cleared things up! So basically use Ethgasstation, and also there's a hugedifference between gas price and gas limit... and the guy decided to use the same for both and so it's like he was trying to use a bigger car engine but he didn't use enough gas because he also increasedid gas consumption,

Ok thanks... so you're saying you can't lose more gas than you specify? I had a feeling they just multiplied the amount of gas you set with the amount of time that elapses...

I mean, how else are people losing 0.65 eth in transaction fees...

Re: Suggestion: Redistributing Lost Funds by Erosion

Although this May sound horrible, it's quite legally correct. I run a banking group in London, and this is what the regulations call for. When someone is not actively using his personal or real property, it can be subject to adverse possession, where 3rd parties can simply legally take possession of the property after being in possession for quite a length of tim.

You can Google the doctrine of adverse possession yourselves for more information. Banks probably have some kind of adverse possession type clause for their inactive, dormant accounts.
(...)
Oh I will definitely read more on the subject. At least in my country (terminology differs but I think it is legally the same) what you are describing takes 25 years to take effect. 25 years is not 3.

I have read on Swiss banks actively using founds deposited by holocaust victims during WWII, so banks do that too.

It's horrible to use funds from holocaust victims. They should have just sent it to a charity??
In America adverse possession is usually varied by state law, with some states only requiring 7 years of continued unopposed possession
banksters? to charity? are you kidding me? I have never in my life heard of such a thing as a greedy bankster helping a charity out...

This is different man.,, those are the victims of the most disturbing thing in Europe... how could they sleep at all knowing they pocketed the money of the victims of the holocaust where they suffered unimaginable things..

I would like to congratulate the question, i still have the same question to solve and we can observe that it does not yet have a "stop button" in transaction, I've lost a lot of Ether on this issue and it's interesting that one of the developers read this post.

I'm not a dev.

I am just scared of trying to send eth using 1 gas with 2100 gwei limit... Then suddenly they take away 1 eth in fees because the tx took days to complete....

I just want clarity.

That transaction had a very high gas price specified (0.000025 Ether, 25,000 GWei), while currently transactions are getting confirmed for much lower (0.000000002 Ether, 2 GWei). And the transaction only specified a max of 25,000 gas units, which is pretty low. So, your transaction burned up the maximum amount (25,000 * 0.000025 = 0.625 Ether), and still failed, unfortunately.

I saw this on stacks exchange.

It scares me because his TX fees are up 0,65 eth!

How did this happen? https://etherscan.io/tx/0xda8c0b80d8e240a83c8f6b067c4656babeb13e8e0ece4fd4292aa06252f1285c

Can it happen to me?  If a TX doesn't confirm in hours and you don't cancel it, will it just continue to eat up eth as the days go by? Very scary...

I really like this coin...especially the long-term perspective of the idea behind the coin.
Cheers. Smiley

Could be good. Idle. It's a clone from bytecoin with little changes. There's only one thing it really has going for it and that's low tx fees and speed. Once it becomes popular and clogged like ethereum. It's gg. Then it becomes one of the other cloned alts out there.

I guess the other thing it has going for it are the jokes.... but can jokes really make it hot enough to moon?

Re: Venezuela Launches Its Oil-Backed Cryptocurrency Petrocoin to Save Economic Cris

I fear that this might become a new sport for countries with financial problems: create your own crypto currency.
Crypto currencies established by a government can be backed up by almost everything, bananas for example.

And I am wondering if that is really going to be a good trend. It all sounds like ICO on a larger scale. From what we know, many ICOs turn out to be a scam.
Most of the countries with financial problems have a problem with corruption in the government. I think I can imagine where the money they get from the crypto currency will go to.
And once we will read news about governments scamming people with crypto currencies, that will shake the trust of the people in all crypto currencies.
Maybe it will even lead to a point where people will start to think of crypto currencies as tools of governments.
No, I do not like this developement!

That can't really happen because governments don't want the reputation of being scammers. Fake companies have no problems scamming people, but governments? You're talking about an official organization representing a whole nation of people... they wouldn't be running a scam.
