Help on a paper about Bitcoin to explain it and it's usefulness to CS people

I'm writing a paper I plan to give to my CS friends about bitcoin (and blockchains in general) and how it solves previously unsolved problems (because I suck at explaining things verbally). I have a good understanding of how namecoin works and feel I did pretty well on that section, but when I got to scripts and smart contracts, I hit a wall at where *my* understanding ends. (Well, that and I don't feel I could explain scripts as well as the wiki link I provided. But I'll admit, smart contracts are pretty much above my head.) I'd really appreciate suggestions: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B630LXzDZIyiRzlETV9zd2pJMG8/view?usp=sharing.

And in case you're wondering, this isn't an assignment and isn't something I plan to submit to a journal or anything, so no academic fraud is being committed. I plan to cite this thread if I include anything from it.

Holy crap this is awesome! I spent most of my winter break working on writing my own library for algo trading (I mean from the ground up, starting with JSON API's). I wish I would have found cryptotrader before, I could have saved myself a lot of work.

And as a CS student, I have to say the design is great. I struggled for a while with how to abstract the trade algo from the trade API of any particular exchange and ended up with a similar, though less elegant, event-driven design.

It would be cool if you added an API for checking up on bots. I'd like to write an android widget that monitors bots.

You guys need an android app. I'd pay $5 for an app as good as your website.

Hey, last time I tried to transfer from Dwolla to MtGox, it was with the MxxxxxxxxxX (MtGox) number instead of the short form (just numbers) and it failed. Now the box turns red when you use the short form. Which is correct?
I sent $20 to check and it worked. The MxxxxxxxxX form, I mean.

Well, it may have taken some time to get it figured out, but I got my money. So thank you. The time is understandable, given the insane volume lately (and it was my fault to begin with).

URSAY, I hope you're getting payed well enough to make dealing with people who get frustrated, like I did, worth it.

How long can I expect to wait before someone will contact me and try to resolve the support ticket you made yesterday (4/2)?

Tyler,

I've tried contacting you about a solution thru PM and here on the forum.  Are you unable to read my communications?

Thanks,

Thanks.  I've received all of your messages and I responded to you in the BitInstant support thread sometime ago.  I will let you know when I get more info on your issue.  Smiley

This was the last thing I got and the only thing in my inbox. (Despite the fact I was weird and sent you 4 extra messages for no reason, I do know what I'm doing. It was just the default setting of not saving sent messages in the outbox folder that confused me. I'm a comp. sci. major with a 4.0 major GPA.  Smiley)

Day 2 and still no deposit or meaningful contact.

Tyler I've contacted you multiple times on this forum and thru PM.  Are you seeing my communication?
I'm seeing it, but the operative word is "meaningful". Nothing has been done nor has any route of repayment been proposed. I'll take a Dwolla refund at this point.

I think it's great that they have multiple support options.
Except they don't. This is the only avenue of contact with any chance of a response. My emails to support@bitinstant.com, which I tried before I came here, went completely unanswered. Not even a "We're here and are working on it." I only came here to vent about being ripped off until I saw this. I would have never been here to begin with, if it had been handled or I thought it would be handled by normal support.

Anyway, that's not really your fault. I'm just saying that they should at least give normal support as much priority as this, because what is done here is more PR than support.

I tried to transfer from my Dwolla to MTGox through BitInstant and haven't received a response from customer service in a day and a half. It failed with "MTGox Connection Error".
