Board Mining (Altcoins)
Re: PhoenixMiner 5.8c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux)
by

on 17/11/2021, 05:47:55 UTC
The new beta version is ready. It is mostly a bugfix release, the more significant upgrades are coming next month. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.9b from here:

PhoenixMiner_5.9b_Windows.zip
PhoenixMiner_5.9b_Linux.tar.gz

The new features in this release are:
  • Full LHR disable mode -lhrdis <n>  1 - yes (default), 0 - no
  • Show the GPU vendor name in the list of GPUs to make it easier to identify the GPUs
  • Added support for the latest AMD Linux drivers 21.40.1. There are some bugs in these drivers, particularly the clocks and voltages can't be set properly with older cards

    (RX4x0/RX5x0/Vega/RadeonVII)
  • Validated support for the latest AMD Windows drivers up to 21.11.2
  • Fixed issues with AMD RX6700XT cards with the latest AMD and Linux drivers
  • Fixed issues with AMD Vega and Radeon VII cards on latest Windows and Linux drivers
  • Fixed crash with very old Nvidia drivers (3xx.x)
  • Other fixes and small improvements

The updated list of known issues (driver incompatibilities, etc.) and workarounds:

AMD Linux driver 21.40.1 has a bug preventing proper setting of clocks and voltages on older cards (RX4x0/RX5x0/Vega/RadeonVII). Given that these drivers are also usually slower than

the older drivers for these cards, we recommend using Linux drivers 20.30 for anything older than RX6000 series.
If you are using Linux drivers 21.40.1 with Radeon VII cards, you need to add the option -fpwm 1 in order to have proper fan control.
AMD Linux drivers 21.40.1 has finally removed the requirement of PCIe atomics but there are problems when you try to mix Polaris (RX4x0/5x0) cards and Vega or newer cards on the same

rig.
Some Nvidia cards will report a lot of stale shares under Windows 11. Using the same driver version under Windows 10 resolves the issue.[/list]

Re: Importance of Emotions - Stay Away from Social Media

I am glue to social media. Tell me, my friend, at this present market situation, do you really stay from away from the social media? reading news about the bitcoin and the general market! Social Media is part of the game, speculation is the stimulating factor in this space as we discuss this. A single news can move the price of BTC to $8,000 and TA will just be disappointed.
I strongly disagree with you. I do understand the power social media can have but crypto industry got far more complex than just a year ago. Positive and negative news really have a small impact on the industry, even with malicious bot posts on Facebook and Twitter, aiming at starters to artificially bring down the price. Yes, I do stay away from social media a times like these but I can only speak for myself. Others might chip in their thoughts as well. Market manipulation is far bigger than just social media and my post aims at individuals and traders that work with (a lot) smaller values of coins right now. Also, I think that with discipline, anyone can abstain from Facebook or few days without problems Smiley

Every time there is a big drop I checked the latest news why it's happening and what are the causes but I avoid reading people's opinion about Bitcoin because it is quite depressing they are posting that Bitcoin is over and going to die, if you are weak of heart you will be carried away, and by the way why ask donation there is nothing in your post that deserves a tip, not even a merit will do.
That's because I am an idiot that did not elaborate properly. Fixed!

Although I might agree that bitcoin (as well as other cryptos) face issues that need immediate attention (fees, number of transactions, decentralization, market manipulation), I do not think that jig is up for them. They are quite big in terms of a number of traders, companies involved, mining pools, companies accepting the payment method, and organizations interested in the blockchain technology. It is here to stay. Just because its value dropped, it does not mean it will die out.
As for the rest of your post, can you clarify a bit more, I got a bit lost after "if you like being watched during sex..."?

Importance of Emotions - Stay Away from Social Media
by
Vangar
on 25/11/2018, 20:17:46 UTC
Dear all,

it seems industry went crazy (and still goes) over the recent dips in value that bitcoin experiences. I understand that such a drop can render anyone down to an emotional breakdown, I would still implore you to keep calm! It is nothing new in this industry, as many bears occurred in history. There are so many toxic posts now that might push people to sell everything way too early. I suggest (much like when political voting was in question) to stay away from social media and do your own TA and FA.
For traders - use leverages on small price changes to cut losses as much as possible.
For HODLers - price WILL go up in the future. Suffice to say that prediction is hard at this point and "moon" is a very subjective term right now, but it will go back to $7.000 level in my opinion. I do not think $20.000 is realistic, even in 2019, but you can be sure bitcoin won't disappear just like that anytime soon.
However, I am sorry for people losing their money over this trend Sad(( I hope no one got hurt but this and that you can get your value back soon enough (which you will!) by holding on! Keep at it, as the blockchain industry has been and shall be as volatile as hell!
If you still want to exit no matter what, you can sell it right now to get it out of your mind and cut out stress.
You can also help your friend out or anyone trying to bring the market back into track value-vise, so you can help them out if you have a small number of coins that may not mean anything to you (putting mine around as well but do not feel obliged or anything:3BMEXxdphJrgzLst1MJ6b6RGajwzhFkeqn).

Trade and HODL safe!

Crypto Market after the Dip - What Now?
by

After the recent dip, the crypto market seems to have found its foothold (as it always does). What do you think will happen now? How accurately can we predict the industry's behavior in such situations at this point, what with the decreased effect of positive & negative news, as well as hype?

Cryptocurrency Market Dip - Why You should not Panic
by
Vangar
on 11/10/2018, 17:15:16 UTC
There have been numerous instances that the cryptocurrency market experienced a dip in value. Bitcoin and altcoins both have felt the wave, with many putting short orders on their entire balances, further pushing the crypto industry down - for the moment. This is nothing new for a volatile market such as crypto.
There is no need for investors to make mistakes of others in the past by putting everything on the line due to their fears. Control emotional trading, regularly do an analysis of the market (both tech and fundamental) and keep calm mind all the time.

Discussion: Bitcoin Market Manipulation - Pump & Dump
by
Vangar
on 10/10/2018, 11:03:51 UTC
Hello, community!

I would like to open a debate on pump & dump groups and their impact on the bitcoin market. I'll start off with questions, with my own opinion listed below, so we can get ti started: How do you guys see pump & dump groups in terms of impacts it had(has) on bitcoin? Do you think it is no big deal or it is actually harmful? How harmful it can be if your answer to the last question was latter?

In my opinion, pump & dump groups and the activity itself serves only the creator and close circle around him/her. So far, many people lost funds due to it and should be kept out of the industry. There are many other legitimate strategies around to be used instead of it (as to not spam with long text, few can be found here: https://www.cryptocointrade.com/about-trading/crypto-trading-strategies/)

What are your opinions on this?

Re: Robinhood trading app

If you're from outside of the U.S., you will not have an access to the Robinhood marketplace. Suffice to say, being a regulated business with almost no fees does have its perks. Instead of spamming you here with text, I can give you a guide about the platform and then you can see it for yourself:
https://www.cryptocointrade.com/reviews/robinhood-review/
Not a bad platform IMHO due to fees and the point that your assets are secure from hacks and market manipulation, though it requires full verification form your side (who doesn't these days).

Re: The advantage of day trader
by
Vangar
on 09/10/2018, 08:34:48 UTC
Potential to make substantial profits. The biggest lure of day trading is the potential for spectacular profits.

Being your own boss. The day trader works alone, independent from the whims of corporate bigwigs.

Never a dull moment. Long-time day traders love the thrill of pitting their wits against the market and other professionals day in and day out.

Expensive education not required. For many jobs in finance, having the right degree from the right university is a prerequisite just for an interview.

Self-employment benefits: As a self-employed individual, a day trader can write off certain expenses for tax purposes, which cannot be claimed by an employed individual.

Any other opinions? Please comment And we discuss any other benefits for someone who uses day trading techniques.

Day trading is just another crypto trading strategy, like scalping, hedge and other tactics (more about these here https://www.cryptocointrade.com/about-trading/crypto-trading-strategies/). All of these provide you with an opportunity to make money on your own. If you have sufficient funds for that at least.
Trading on price changes can be very tricky, especially for a market that is as volatile as bitcoin. Thus, small price changes won't get you revenues needed to make your day-to-day life function. You need a large amount of savings to do that, unless you wish to use leverage (very very risky business indeed).

Bitcoin Arbitrage Trading
by
Vangar
on 09/10/2018, 08:30:45 UTC
Hello, community!

We would like to present you with an article for starters on arbitrage trading, what it is, benefits and (more importantly) risks of using the strategy https://www.cryptocointrade.com/trading-blog/what-is-crypto-arbitrage-trading-and-is-it-possible-to-make-a-profit-from-it/. Suffice to say, jumping from one bitcoin platform to another does have its own set of issues, where price might change rapidly and fees might be high as well.

What are your experiences in arbitrage trading? Have you ever done it and had success? What would be your advice for people thinking about using this particular strategy for the first time?

Poloniex Withdrawing Support for the U.S. Clients
by
Vangar
on 06/10/2018, 20:02:35 UTC
Bad news for U.S. Poloniex clients - it seems that the company owning the platform, Circle, will pull out margin trading for them. The decision was announced in a blog post. Additionally, the company will delist GNO (Gnosis), AMP (Synereo) and EXP (Expanse).
https://blog.circle.com/2018/10/03/poloniex-to-remove-margin-and-lending-products-for-us-based-customers/
It is important to note that U.S. traders will have seven days notice when the decision comes to power, especially since withdrawals will not be possible after that period. The decision came as a plan to revive the Poloniex.

Re: Lowest Deposit Fees in Crypto Market Review

Just visited your website and noticed that you did collect already a lot of information, this could be useful for people who want to compare the deposit fees. Only I think that it would be better if you created a comparison table and added some extra columns with more differences since there could be also another reason why people choose a certain exchange. Good luck with your website!

Just an example:

Re: Discussion: Bitcoin Trading Scams
by
Vangar
on 05/10/2018, 10:53:59 UTC
Many a trader got scammed in recent years due to the fraudulent projects, no matter if they are ICOs, social media "gurus" or trading platforms.

this is a very complicated subject, I say complicated because I have seen very strange things, I will tell you what I saw and see:

I find scam ICOs, created a thread exposing the ICO is scam and after post in the ICO thread to warn people that the such ICO is scam and guess what happens after I post in the ICO thread? all people ignore me, people continue to post in thread of the ICO as if nothing had happened.

The same thing happens with exchange, how many accusations does yobit have? There are a lot of accusations, but people still use yobit.
Unfortunately, it all depends on "benefits" promised back, luring people in despite the red flag stretched all over the place. There were also several cases of "black marketing", where scam projects would blame legitimate one in order to divert attention to their programs and succeeding in it.

Many a trader got scammed in recent years due to the fraudulent projects, no matter if they are ICOs, social media "gurus" or trading platforms. In my opinion, it would be important to first educate beginners (here's an article on how to avoid mistakes, scams included https://www.cryptocointrade.com/education/avoid-cryptocurrency-trading-mistakes/). How do you figure one out and what can be done in near future to limit these frauds an access to the market?

Re: New Bitcoin Futures Trading Investment and Physical Coins
by
Vangar
on 04/10/2018, 13:17:07 UTC
The world is undergoing digitalization, and shifting from physical notes, even in fiat.
And cryptocurrency which should be at the helm of the innovation doesn't need physical notes.
The adoption of cryptocurrency debit cards would go a long way in taking this technology mainstream.

P. S. It is against forum rules to make two consecutive posts. You can edit it u to the previous one or use the quote option.
Thanks for the comment, and even more so for the heads up! Smiley
It certainly seems so, what with so many failures in the past regarding physical bitcoins. Digitization does help businesses and individuals speed up operations while trading is currently possible through online platforms.

New Bitcoin Futures Trading Investment and Physical Coins
by
Vangar
on 04/10/2018, 11:52:41 UTC
There is an interesting rumor going around regarding futures platforms today. According to the CCN, TD Ameritrade and Virtu Financial, both involved in trading, decided to invest in cryptocurrency exchange called ErisX. Apart from bitcoin futures and cryptocurrency trade, the plan is to offer "physical form for cryptos". There would be a spot trading market, with investors receiving cryptos instead of cash.

https://www.ccn.com/td-ameritrade-trading-giant-virtu-invest-in-u-s-cryptocurrency-exchange/
What do you guys think, how successful the new futures trading platform will be (judging from the report from above)? Do you think the physical form is possible at this stage of the industry development? Is it needed?

For those that would like to have a deeper look into the futures trading, you can read more about them and other instruments through this link https://www.cryptocointrade.com/about-trading/crypto-trading-strategies/.
