I still believe it would be a huge mistake to get Antony to Leverkusen , specially for that much money. We all saw him and how he played at United, and at Betis he did some great scoring at the moments that mattered so I agree he has some worth.

But Leverkusen is not some team that gets players for 50+ million, just because they made some money from the Wirtz deal, doesn't mean they should be spending all of that in a single season. This is what Erik Ten Hag does, he spends way too much on subpar players and then he fails to get results. I am sure that if they do this then they are not going to get the best result. It would be wiser if they could focus on getting players the way they always did, under 30 million, that would make more sense.

Is Antony even joining Leverkusen? I mean the last update I saw was that he was going to leave Manchester United but Betis was the top priority.

https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1941149264585105762

Here is the source for it. Erik ten Hag is at Leverkusen now yeah. But Antony doesn't seem very keen on reuniting with him.  Tongue  But I understand of course. He had a great time period at Betis even though it didn't last long.

The only problem is salary now. Let's see who gets him in the end...

Another update on Gyökeres - Arsenal...

80 million euros in total. It is a quite high amount of money that's for sure. But on paper, he is worth it considering how amazing season he had. 54 goals, 13 assists in 52 games, like a dream...  Roll Eyes

The only question is "Will he maintain this effort in the Premier League too?". I hope he does. He has a Championship experience with Coventry. But not much in the Premier League. He is looking forward to playing there.

Not a bad start by Chelsea at all... But in these minutes PSG are starting to be more effective. Chelsea need a really tight defending against them to stall them more.  Tongue

So far I can say they are better than Real Madrid at least. Chelsea can really be a surprising team in unexpected games sometimes. Will this be one of those? I don't know... They need to defend with all they have to wear them out (maybe).

My current prediction for top 4:

1. Napoli
2. Inter
3. Juventus
4. Milan or Roma

I don't think there will be a different team in top 2 honestly. If Napoli don't make it then Inter would win the title in my opinion.

I put Juventus there but can't be sure of Tudor yet. He still needs to show us what he can do more. And signings will also play a big role.

In that case, I expect a Champions League spot fight between Milan and Roma. Very difficult to predict which one would make it.  Tongue

Jude Bellingham shouldn't be included in the list of selfish players. He's a player who consistently contributes to Vinicius Jr. and Mbappé without any desire to score.
In contrast, Mbappé is extremely selfish, always wanting to score without contributing to others.
Vinicius Jr, like Mbappé, is selfish, always wanting to score even when other players have scoring opportunities, but he always forces himself to score and ultimately fails.

I agree that Xabi will put pressure on these two players to improve the club's performance.

Honestly I think Bellingham should also be included. I watched him live in so many games while he was wasting big goal opportunities only because of being selfish. I'm not saying he is bad. He just needs to get better on this topic that's all.

The most selfish ones are of course Vini and Mbappe.  Smiley

I don't know why you guys are sounding as if the new season have started. When Madrid was winning matches until the semifinals that they clashed with PSG. Nobody complained about that the starts are selfish with the ball. Just because Madrid was defeated by PSG who is far stronger than them, there's a lot of talk here and there. Were you expecting Madrid to defeat PSG, when they're not in their form. When the season starts is when people can complain if they can't meet up to our expectations.

No, I was already thinking the same about these players earlier as well. And we see now, nothing has changed. But these are problems that can be solved one way or another. I trust Xabi Alonso on it...

Petrovic is potential goal keeper, but he's so reluctant in competing in Chelsea for the number one. It's wise for him leaving from blues, then join Bournemouth to get minutes. He's flinch to be at Chelsea, and so this is his best decision. Selling him is also helping Chelsea to bail out UEFA's sanction. It's a win - win solution for both of sides.

He got a new club, and blues got almost 15m profit + release from UEFA sanction. It sounds good, right?

He could have actually got the shirt from Robert Sanchez if he was more patient. Or am I thinking wrong? Because I don't know how Chelsea's attitude was against him.

I want to believe that Petrovic won't turn out to be a goalkeeper like Kepa later on.  Roll Eyes  He also played for a season at Bournemouth and didn't end up well after. For now, Petrovic seems more promising than him...

Like we said before, Lyon are continuing in the Ligue 1. They barely managed to remain. Therefore I assume they won't be able to make much of a signing this summer. You know their finances... They might even have to sell more players.

Luis Enrique is currently very satisfied with the performance of Dembele, Kvaratskhelia, and Desire Doue up front, while he also has quality rotation options like Goncalo Ramos, Kang in-Lee, and Bradley Barcola. Therefore, I don't think PSG will sign any star players this summer, although Osimhen and Gyokeres are worthy targets.
Even if Enrique does recruit new players, defense will likely be his focus this time, with the goal of having a better second tier player. Overall, PSG has excellent squad depth and is well balanced, it's almost hard to find weaknesses in the team right now.

Yeah the only thing they can do now is to improve the squad depth. Not to have big problems when they face serious injuries...

Mukiele has such injury now for example. Hakimi is Enrique's first choice of course but maybe he might think of a loan or something to be his backup if Mukiele isn't expected to recover for months.

I wasn't expecting Garnacho to stay there honestly. He was shown like an unwanted player by Amorim. I don't know how good their relationship is currently. I wouldn't like him to be left out of squad...

I believe he is really talented. Still 21 years old. Will any other Premier League make an offer for him? I haven't heard of any yet. Only interest from outside, like Napoli. Anyways, he still has 3 more years on his contract. Let's see what happens on the upcoming days...

The sale of Florian Wirtz has made Leverkusen really rich!  Grin  We are talking about a fee like 125 million euros... I wonder what's the percentage of the amount they transfer to their budget for signings.

I read they finished the signing of Malik Tillman from PSV for 35 million recently. He is AM so I guess this is for filling Wirtz's space. He had really nice stats in the Eredivisie but we will find out what he can do here.

There are some more signings done already but I assume there is more to come by Erik ten Hag. Let's see how he will deal with it in the Bundesliga.

Currently the main problem for Real Madrid is the selfishness. Xabi Alonso is also aware of it and wants to take immediate action about it. The board is fully supporting him in this.

Mbappe, Bellingham, Vinicius Junior... These are the first selfish names standing out in the squad now. If their attacking line learns to play as a team instead of an individual only, I believe in Real Madrid to be a superb team just like PSG now...

Just as how I imagined it.  I guess Russell is going the other way to Red Bull.  Cheesy  What other choice does he have..?  Grin

In other news, there are words swirling around that the Red Bull CEO was responsible for Horner's sacking and that the owners of Red Bull and Helmut Marko supported the move.  But then...  It was also said that Vertappen was upset with the decision.  Dun dun duuun...

Yeah, high possibility Verstappen decides to go to Mercedes and signs a contract at the end of the season.

Yeah Red Bull will be the only sensible option left for Russell in that situation. And the same for Red Bull as well.  Tongue  Where can they find another reliable driver like Verstappen in the end, right?

If another Mercedes domination starts as of next season then Verstappen would probably break bigger records.

I can understand Max being in talks with Mercedes, after all Mercedes lost Hamilton so they were looking for a superstar, makes sense for both sides, Red Bull basically lost all people that made Red Bull what it is today, so moving to Mercedes would make sense. But, Antonelli part doesn't make sense to me. I get it, George and Max hates each other, and because of that being teammates would be very tough, but getting rid of someone like George Russell feels like a mistake, it is clear to me that he is better than Antonelli.

In this case, if George Russel isn't at Mercedes after this season, then where will he race? Will he go to a top team? Or will he have to become one of those drivers who slowly phase out by picking a bad team, aka Sainz right now for example.

Like I said above, Russell's destination would be Red Bull then. Unless he goes to Cadillac...  Grin  Just joking about it. I don't think they would even try their luck with him.

IMO, i'd personally put Milan as the second favorite instead of Inter. They have allegri on their side, and you know how experienced their coach is. This totally different with Inter, which has mediocre coach, and their result in CWC more than enough to be used in forecasting their future.

So, Napoli shall remain the first, then followed by Ac Milan and Juve as the second and third. Inter milan must be placed after all of them.

I evaluated it according to their current squads. Allegri really needs a serious improvement in general player quality. Great to hear that Leão is staying but they need reinforcements...

Allegri is a great choice for them otherwise. They achieved a league title with him already you know. Like 14 years ago.  Smiley

Placing Inter to all the way behind is an interesting choice but let's see...

Honestly I don't think Pacers will have this opportunity again next season. Like you guys also mentioned, they won't have Haliburton in the first place because of achilles injury.  Sad

With whom they are going to fill his space? Siakam can't take full responsibility there. He is good but not enough to carry the team by himself. We saw it in the finals while Haliburton was injured.

Adeyemi is staying at Dortmund. Very good news for them and the fans for sure.  Smiley

He is one of the most valuable and talented players in the squad currently. He is still very young (23) as well. I thought maybe they might lose him in case of an interest from a bigger team.

Dortmund really need him on the RW position as he is the best player they have there. Kovac wants to play bigger and needs such talents being kept in the squad.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petrovic has ended up with Bournemouth. I assume they are planning to make him their main GK. Because they are going to pay 25 million pounds.

I think he is a really good choice for them and he would also be happy to play Premier League football regularly.  Smiley  He was the highest rated GK of the season in the Ligue 1 last season.

I read a rumor that Arsenal have agreed with Viktor Gyokeres. Maybe his position is different from Rodrygo, but Gyokeres has been priced at 60 million euros. So if they buy Rodrygo again it seems that they are spending too much money. I'm not sure they will sign Rodrygo at that price. They have signed Kepa, Zubimendi and most recently Gyokeres. I don't see Arsenal having a big budget every season.

Besides Arsenal is still haggling with Sporting to pay as low fee as possible. I don't know how much their budget is but FFP would be their main concern to be able to register all their new signings.

I'm not sure whether they really need Rodrygo currently. They have Saka on the right wing. Let's say Martinelli left then I would find it more logical for that space.

Ter Stegen is clearly superfluous in this scheme, since in the short term Barcelona relies on Szczesny + Garcia and Ter Stegen has no chance even in the medium term, let alone the long term, where Garcia is the priority. According to the leaks, Barcelona wants to get rid of him, but he has no intention of leaving at all. I wonder if they will put as much pressure on him as they tried to put on De Jong, he has a contract until 2028, it's quite a long wait (and pay wages Grin).

ter Stegen's current salary is 6.3 million euros per year. Not a small amount to pay at all if he stays until the end of his contract.  Tongue  But I think he wouldn't like to stay where he is not wanted. But there is a more important question here...

Will there be any team to be willing to sign him? In Europe I mean. Because of having a serious injury period I think teams would be more hesitant. Worst-case scenario, he would join a Saudi team (which isn't the worst for him though  Grin).

If they're going to sign a striker, perhaps Osimhen or Gyökeres would be a good option. However, I don't think they've made any moves on Osimhen because I've never heard of him in a transfer window. In my opinion, Paris Saint-Germain needs a transfer. With two strikers, they could easily win both the Champions League and the French Ligue 1, rotating. I think we could see a few signings from Paris Saint-Germain before the transfer window closes.

For now it doesn't look like PSG is really going for a striker. Probably Luis Enrique is finding the lineup good enough already. I will give him that about it though.  Tongue

When it comes to the names you mentioned, Osimhen is likely to join Galatasaray officially soon. PSG was interested in him in the past too but not anymore as it seems.

And about Gyökeres, he is close to signing for Arsenal...

I wonder what moves Dortmund is going to make this summer... I have my trust in Kovac like I said before. There has been a silver lining since he came.  Smiley

When it comes to what kind of transfers they should make:

- Schlotterbeck is injured and out until this October. In his absence I doubt Kovac can trust Süle. Because he gained lots of weight you know. I don't know his recent condition though. But if he is still the same then they had better sign a CB.

- They have already made a good move for RB. Yan Couto joined recently for 20 million euros. Nice move!

- Is Serhou Guirassy staying? If he isn't then a CF signing would be a must too.

It seems like Kovac will use a 3-defender formation mostly. They would be productive in the attacking line. But defense should be really consolidated to get over the problems continuing for many years.

All teams are already gearing up for their hopes of a successful league season. Which of the three contenders (Napoli, Inter Milan & Juventus) do you think will win the league?

First of all, I would like to share the odds for next season's winner:

- Napoli are favoured the most. Surprised? Not much honestly.  Smiley  Because they are already the last winner and still keeping Conte as well.

- Inter are starting off with a clean slate with Chivu who isn't much experienced as a manager. This is the point I doubt them for now...

- Milan and Roma have new managers while Juventus are also kind of in a similar situation. But I don't think this season will be any of theirs.

When it comes to my opinion, I'm uncertain between Napoli and Inter. Let's see what Chivu has to show us first.  Wink

Nelson Piquet Jr. has just let it slip about Verstappen and Mercedes being in talks...

https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/1lwegqn/piquet_jr_on_brazilian_podcast_discussing/

He presumed everyone knew about it already and says the final contract details aren't decided yet. And he adds that Verstappen's teammate will be Antonelli in case of an agreement.

Things are getting more concrete slowly then... This is absolutely the start of a downfall for Red Bull.  Tongue
