Re: CoinTracking - Profit/Loss Portfolio and Tax Reporting for Digital Currencies
by

I am considering an unlimited/corporate account.

1)How does cointracking deal with following scenario:

*I only have USDT
*I loan 2XRP on gate.io and 2 XRP on huobi, sell 1 XRP on gate.io, sell 1 XRP on huobi, the other 1+1 XRP might stay in the margin wallet or be moved to the spot wallet but they won't be sold.
*I am short 2XRP on Bitfinex and have 1XRP in my BFX funding balance.

Does cointracking show a net balance of -3XRP?

2)is there support for funding earnings from gate.io and BFX?
If I earn 1 OMG of interest today when 1 OMG=2€, will the system consider it as a interest payment of 2€ and a purchase of 1 OMG@2€.
3)Does cointracking support USDT/USD trades from bitfinex?
4)What does cointracking value USDT at for BTC/USDT trading?
5) Does cointracking account for foreign currency gains, when the tax base is EUR but trading occurs in USD and others.
6)If I upgrade to corporate, can the purchased unlimited subscription be deducted from the price?

I'm interested in buying 1000 points, but I have troubles seeing how this tx would work.

Either you go first or I deposit into a 2sig wallet and release the funds after you send the points.

What is the source of these points?

I'm looking to hedge BTG. I'd like to short, but there's no exchange that offers margin or futures on btg.

If anyone out there is interested in loaning me 2-3BTC worth of BTG, please contact me. I can post 150-200% collateral (BTC) to a respected escrow of bitcointalk we can agree on.

I know you only advertise loans for BTC, but do you happen to sit on a stash of BTG, some of which you'd like to loan out?
I can post plenty of collateral for 2 to 3BTC's worth of BTG, for a 7 day loan.
Can each transaction (initial loan payment & pay back) occur per 33%, such that I'm confident I won't be scammed for my entire collateral. (I'm sure you can relate to my concerns)
Note: this message is an information request, not a formal loan request.

No, sorry I not have BTG at moment, and I thing more profitable for you, just open  short position on polo (if you believe that BTG will fail.
Thanks for your response. Unfortunately BTG can't be shorted anywhere :-(

Hi

Due to timezone differences (I'm European), bithumb hasn't been able to contact me by phone.
I tried calling the bithumb helpdesk line: 1661-5566.
Unfortunately I was greeted by a Korean-speaking robot voice who, I presume, instructs to press number combination X for department Y.
I probably would need to contact the verification department.

I would appreciate some guidance with this issue.

Bounty: 5USD in BTC given to one person who helped me significantly (randomized with weights, or first answer, I'll see)
Thank you for your time.

I signed up to dump some bitcion cash, but stuck around and traded a multiple of my crypto net worth on your platform.
Overall, my experience is positive, however I encountered some issues:

1) memory leak bug:
When I open the exchange page, the memory footprint grows and grows to >1.3GB (according to chrome task manager) at which point I have to refresh (my computer only has 8GB of ram and many opened tabs)
2) wrong fee displayed:
I almost got a heart attack when seeing the 10%, 7% fee and fee rebate numbers on the trading page. Not cool. Thank god for the trollbox, where I found peace.
3) before depositing my bitcoin cash, I saw using this exchange as as significant risk, after reading this thread and other threads on bitcointalk.
Your account has a negative rep next to its name. I've never heard of this exchange before. So if you want more people to join, you'll need to find a way for people to trust your exchange.
4) on the verification page, it is stated that "Cryptocurrency withdrawal" for the "General" verification level is "5,000 EUR equivalent / day". What's up with that? I withdrew way more than that with my "General" verification level .
5) On https://hitbtc.com/fees-and-limits there's a different fee for btc withrawal than when actually withdrawing: "0.0003 ฿" vs "0.00085 BTC"
6) an uncapped 2% withdrawal fee for >50k€? That's a bit extreme!
7) In the future I might start trading under a (European) corporate entity. How would verification work in that case?

It's already fixed as I mentioned before, but let me explain again what happened.

(numbers are approximated)
the matching engine receives a 30 day market bid of 10k. (there might be a chance this bug occured for x-day bids (x!=30) where 30 day offers are taken)
The loan offer book, filtered by period=30daysormore looks like:
14k$ @ 0.14%
>100k$ @ different percentages  between 0.141 and 0.5%
20k$ @ 0.5%

Normally the engine will match 10k$ at 0.14%. But the public lending history log showed 10k$ @0.5%.
My 30 day loan offer @0.2xx% was still sitting there!
So I cancelled this offer, offered at @0.5 and it got matched within no time.
Some time shortly after, I saw matches @0.75 and got some matches myself with some money that was released from other loans.
During all of this time, there existed 30 day offers at way lower rates. (e.g the 14k offer was still sitting there according to the bfx book and bfxdata.com book (which uses the public api).
I got a nice 7x interest compared to yesterday Smiley

What's up with the USD loan matching?

I've been monitoring the usd loan matching for a few hours.
There's a 40k @ 0.14, 30 day loan offer, and plenty around that rate also for 30days. (specifically 30 days, not '2-30days' mixed offers)
But somehow, hundreds of thousands USD worth of 30 day loan offers @0.75% (per day!) are matched instead of those at lower rates!

Are you sure of that?

I'm regularly lending out my funds (though the US dollar mostly), and I don't remember I saw it the way you describe it. Could you post a snapshot? Most likely, you are confusing another thing. That is, when you lend out for 30 days, you are kind of stuck, and you can't demand the borrower to return the funds before the end of the whole term, while the borrower can return the money any time he sees appropriate. In this way, if you expect the loans to surge further, you'd be better off if you lend the money at a lower interest but for a shorter term. There can also be a case when what you see is not what happens in reality. Which is to say, all loan offers are taken up to higher rates but you only see the highest rates shown, and then the offer book gets instantly refilled
I've been lending out for years, I'd have to have been hallucinating to be this wrong.
Sometimes auto-renew loans are being ignored, according to some people I spoke to; this might be related.

Support responded that a fix was put in place.
My educated guess would be that the loan matching engine has a bug which causes it to enter a faulty state, and they solved it either by restarting or effectively fixing the bug.
My bet would be on the first, or maybe patching and code review proces is lightning fast.

I've used this wallet intensively for the byteball coindrop, I've experienced some frustration.
(numbers are fictional for privacy)

1)
Code:
I have 10 btc in address A of my (non-imported) wallets. I send 3 btc to my exchange.
This transaction sends 3 btc from A to the exchange, and sends 2 btc to a new address B of my wallet, and 5 remains inside A.
What's the reason coin is sent from a to b? All it does is increase fee costs for this and future transactions.
I'd assume it's because reusing addresses is bad for privacy. But this is not the case here as some coin is still is A.

2)
Also, using the memonic passphrase I can sign messages with any specific addresses of any specific wallet. (using github tools in offline mode)
Some coin of a wallet was sitting in an address, comparable to address B above, for which I could not locate the private key.
I had to transfer those coin to a new receiving address of the same wallet, for which I did locate the private key.
Maybe these intermediate addresses have a different type than the receiving addresses? not sure

any eta for signing messages within the client (for non-imported addresses)?

3)
Some transactions to previously used addresses were not showing up in the transaction page, although the balance was correct.
I'll investigate this later on, I might be wrong Smiley

EDIT: I just send another tx, now a transaction from 2 addresses, although one address has enough to cover the entire transaction??? That's like 0.5$ lost in excess tx size fees Sad I can't imagine this being good for microtransactions.

I don't get the rationale behind this. Maybe they haven't changed this since the recent price increase?

I there any way I could make it graph older data?
Tbh I"ve been using "bitfinex-auto-lend-master" but I'd like to see some graphs.

I installed it today and it shows data from last 10 days, so older data could maybe be graphed too?

EDIT: seems like I should have searched the code before asking.
it probably in here:
MarginBot\inc\ExchangeAPIs\bitfinex.php

   Line 128:    function bitfinex_updateHistory($numDays=10,  $sinceLast=0){
Line 136:             /* No Entries, Go Back 10 Days */

Only the "All" selection  for graphing works though, in my browser console i get this error:

So there's ip-range whitelist support, great!

I have a dynamic ip within range: a.b.c.e-a.b.f.g (witt defined constants abcdefg).
But for some reason I get "Invalid list of ip addresses".

What is the correct syntax?

Also the errormessage appears inside the inputbox, scrambled with and on top of the specified range, and will translate to the "correct" place after some clicks on the page.

EDIT:oops got all my sentences mixed up during copypaste, fixed.

I'm not saying bag holding is a good or a bad thing, but I think people sometimes don't realize how high BTC is going to have to climb to beat the other investments you can do in this space.  Based on my last years average return of 0.1026% on USD margin, lets look at some numbers:

Starting with $370 (current price as of posting this) and lending on Margin

On                          You'd Have
Dec 31st, 2014           $ 378.81
Dec 31st, 2015           $ 520.72
Dec 31st, 2016           $ 716.42
Dec 31st, 2017           $ 984.81
Dec 31st, 2018           $ 1,353.73
Dec 31st, 2019           $ 1,860.87
Dec 31st, 2020           $ 2,560.22

I agree with your conclusion, but as interests are paid daily the correct formula for balance after x years would be

f = (1+RATEPERDAY/100)^(365*YEARS*EFFICIENCY)*INITALBALANCE=

with EFFICIENCY = the percentage of time you expect your offers to be taken as opposed to waiting to be taken.

So the difference is even more pronounced.
Notice the way the funcion blows up for higher rates, gotta love exponentials Smiley
