This is a two-way machine (can buy and sell Bitcoin) and it is located at Cassava in Chicago: 3338 North Clark Street Chicago IL, 60657. They accept Bitcoin and make amazing empanadas and smoothies if you are able to make a visit.

Good catch! According to their security page https://coinbase.com/security:
Up to 97% of customer funds are stored offline
AND
Funds not stored offline are covered by insurance
So yeah, only hot (online) storage is insured.

Because some business will take a highly complicated method, wrap it in some nice easy to use package - and sell it to the average person.
