So I saw an article just now about 2 hours ago, 1st iteration had the coin at .30 then I click another articl and its at .45 then another and .55 and needless to say I just bought a bit at some .75.

What I am here to ask is those who see this at .20 and so on, and this post here only 2 pages long for a coin that is not tradable on Coinbase.

1. Where do they come from out of the blue
2. How/where can I have higher visibility to these types of coins?

I have mined for 3 years now, only broke even and speculated in a lot of alt coins of which most are no longer in operation.  What makes a coin go from unheard of to Coin base material in a day it seems like.  I know that is not the case but what am I doing wrong?  Any feedback welcome and I am no complaining, just curious, where do we find the birth ground for coins that can be Coinbase material.

Hello Dev, used PM for years now, its great, thanks you.  I did notice that -proto2 "5" is not available.  I dont know if this is intentional or if proto2 was just overlooked for StratumV2, or "5".  Please add if viable, thank you.

So I have a very basic question I would like to verify.  Say I am Mining EtherGem solo through Geth.  That coin Difficulty goes up and down and right now it goes from 700 MH to about 1.2 GH Difficulty.  When I login to my miners and see a miner that has been for like 5 days and it stats the highest difficulty level for found block and it states something like 120 GH, why does it have a result that is some 120 x more difficult then what is needed to win the block?

And is that what that does mean, I found something in the 5 day period at 120 GH?!  If so that is pretty awesome, if that si what it means.  Thank you.

Dev, if you could answer this real quick on your next post I would appreciate it, just one sentence if you can.  The other thing I did today is I grabbed about 200 MB of log files and threw all of that data into Excel, some 900k+ lines, I dont think Excel would even let me use al of the data I grabbed, and needless to say Excel did not like it.  So I sorted all of my found shares and block found difficulties for the past couple of weeks.  My highest find was 455 TH, so half of a PH, or 1/6 of the way to finding an Etheruem block at current Difficulty.

While fighting Excel through this exercise, aside from making a macro I can run to truncate, sort and filter of all the logs, would it be possible on your end, as I have no idea, to display the highest Difficulty at the end of each round?  Not just shares or blocks found.  But once a new block arrives a snap shot of the highest reached difficulty is shown.  I guess that would never be higher then the coin's current difficulty as you would have found the block, but still if working on a high difficulty coin it be nice to see how high you got for each block.  But then that raises the question, OK after the end of block X, I get to say 1.2 PH, thats great and then the block ended and a new block arrives, if on a pool this would have almost guaranteed resulted in a share right, but you would have shoot through the share difficulty and still been going up to the block difficulty, so the block end highest difficulty is still valid.

But for those of us who only solo mine 99% of the time, we don't have pesky shares to deal with and then if at the end of each block we can see how high we did get or even a this is your block height and this is the current block  difficulty...You achieved 32% of the block.  (actual difficulty/current difficulty).

Just thinking about this, I have no idea if you are even able to capture then end of block highest GPU difficulty achieved, but that data would be real awesome to see and look through.  See how close we get to hitting an Ethereum block.  Calcs tell me  my own rig(s) is 72 days, even made my own calculator, all tweaked out and it says same, but to watch the progress as it works would be awesome!  Anyways, just some thoughts.  Great miner btw thanks a ton.

At DAG update [so every 5 days and a few hours] I'm running into the issue as per the screenshot:

https://pasteboard.co/HlSWewG.png

I tried to find in readme file whether there's a fix for this; I already have 16 GB of virtual memory allocated so that shouldn't be the issue.

The cards in question are all nvidia, so the codes suggested won't work [as it says in title only for AMD].

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers,

Greg

Hey Greg,

So from your image everything starts to go to shit when you DAGup as I like to call it.  Your move to DAG 188.  You wouldn't happen to be on 3GB cards would you.  I think DAG 188 is or near the ohh shit 3GB done for range.

Remember PM auto generates a DAG +2 each time, you can disable this but you maybe pre-hitting that coins cutoff for your gpus memory size.  If you have 4gb or higher cards then have you tried the follow:

-lidag Slow down DAG generation to avoid crashes when swiching DAG epochs
(0-3, default: 0 - fastest, 3 - slowest). This option works only on AMD cards

My gut is you are on 3GB cards and for the coin you are mining the DAG has gotten to high.  You will need to find a new Altcoin to mine with a much lower Day, to DAGdown to.  Like Pirl or Callisto or Whale, whatever you favor.  Thats my guess, would like to see the 1st screen of PM after you fire it up to see the card details.

Hello Developer,

Great miner I/we really appreciate the work you have put into it.  With that said, I have been using PM since 2.2 I think, although I do like the auto -dcri feature Claymore uses now, so I do cheat every now and then and sneak back to Claymore, it's like an old dirty whore, you know, anyways end up going back, well maybe not, anyways, I digress...

I would like to request an expansion of a current feature.  Your -coin feature is great but I only solo mine to geth and with that said I typically solo mine the lower difficulty coins I think might have a shot of increasing in price, someday.  With that said, you do include a few good coins in your -coin feature but if you could include ALL coins on the Minerpool.net splash screen, that would be great!

https://minerpool.net/

This would provide a much greater DAG coverage for that feature, I know its pretty miner (pun intended) request but maybe someday, it would be nice to have more coverage.  Thanks again!

Childish bickering.  Glad I never mined Ella and glad I wont be mining this one.  Back to the others.

All the same thing anyways, be nice if someone really did something meaningful, this isn't it.  Ill keep my 11% worth (dev coins per mine) of work for a coin who has an actual goal and not the same as 15 others.

Dev, solo is here you da man!  BUT I do have a couple of comments:

1. Your example at the top of your 2.7c release says -coin Vic and Akroma, but down in the list you don't list either of those.  Can you please amend or tell us a full and accurate list of coins that work under the -coin feature please.

2. I am using drivers on my AMD cards that run like a bat out of hell speed wise on low DAG coins but once I go back to high DAG coins it goes to sheet.  But I only mine low DAG coins so it does not matter to me.  But an issue I ran into is that I have all along used -minspeed in clay to reset my miner and re-apply my OCs when they fail and whatnot, but because the dev DAG is high by default, the -minRigSpeed calculates the devfree speeds into its feature, thus, unless I mine a -coin I cannot use -minRigSpeed because the DAG lowers my MHS during the devfree periods and calls up my -r function.  Even though my own mining is at a nice and high tweaked speed.  Clay does not calculate the DevFree periods into the -minspeed totals.

3. I am switching to solo Vic now so will try the -coin Vic to avoid the DAG switching high and impacting the -minRigSpeed mis-calulations for a work around for now. (more of a statement).  My last coin was not available under the -coin feature thus I could not use the -minRigSpeed feature and had numerous OC drops were I went periods un-optimized by a card or two.

4. Am I wrong or is the capitalization for the command lines are required.  If it is spelled out as -minRigSpeed in the instructions then you have to use -minRigSpeed as -minrigspeed wont be recognized.  Seems kind of trivial and I am sure causing more folks then just myself a headache.  unless I am wrong and this was just a 4AM sleep issue.

2) scrolling the miner to review past output causes the miner to freeze or at least I thing it is.  Doing so I get an E at the very last line and after having it sit for a few the normal 'hashing' output does not return, but if I do a Ctrl + C is gives the option to stop the miner without any hitch.  Can you explain what's possibly happening?

Yes. Using 2.7c
The Freeze with the "E" on the screen happens to me any time I try to scroll back.
Have to exit miner and restart it.

could be quick edit issue- see troubleshooting P005 on Page 1

No, it is not the same issue.
This original hang was fix weeks ago.
Only happens when scrolling backwards.

I had this happen once last night and once today, latest released version 2.7c.

how to use

https://wallet.mix.minerpool.net?

this is  show eth and balance is zero

Works like the platform does for any other coin using MyEther Base.  However, in the top right there is a drop down, you need to click that and then select the second from the top I think, it will say MIX Network.  Then you can see any MIX coins you own and all that jazz.

As the work on the hardware control options is taking longer than expected, here is a beta version with the other new features: PhoenixMiner 2.7a. It can be downloaded from here:
  https://mega.nz/#F!zUFTyIrC!OSlA4BMlUvFq4HDbkK-AIg

Here are the checksums to verify the download:
Code:
    File: PhoenixMiner_2.7a.zip
   SHA-1: fd967e62d05adec1c9d6126c347d711ac7028688
 SHA-256: 237d6f3f781d9a4a718559c956d2da0bf81e82c374e7ce6dca44e397bcd404ff
 SHA-512: 13584ac2a99073e3ea53ecc308ee19422bd26f85e585313740f9e275d0318a7cfa7151f0a63292d97c1736b8d072ea4b8d3743e97927f83979b6d93348b71d18

Note that this is not an official release and the hardware control and solo mining features are not included in it (they will be included in the final 2.7 release). The changes are:
  • Improvements in switching between normal mode and devfee mode to avoid some GPUs "losing" their overcloking/undervolting settings
  • Increase the frequency of getWork requests to lower the probability of stale shares
  • Added support for direct mining of Akroma, WhaleCoin, and Victorium without DevFee switching (use akroma, whale, or vic in the -coin parameter)
  • Show warning messages and more detailed error messages when the virtual memory is low, or GPU memory is not enough for DAG allocation
  • Other small improvements and changes

I just tried it and no go.  Please confirm that solo mining/direct mining to geth or parity remains a non-feature with 2.7a.  Thanks.

from the developer earlier

PhenixMiner does not support dual mining. However we are working on this feature and will introduce it
soon. Solo mining is not supported too as we feel that it is not very practical with the current
mining difficulty.

Hey Janding, I happened to re-read this looking for something else and I now see what you mean.  You were correct, I apologize I missed that and mis-read your comment.  The Dev did state that solo was not active in 2.7a, sorry for shooting you down you were right, I was wrong.  Thanks alot for the help pointing it out!

Have already disable quick edit mode, enable it too, same thing, always freezing.

Any help will be wonderfull here...
thx

Still have this issue, any help?

when asking for help be helpful... post your setup, your command line for starting the phoenix miner... without that only Nostradamus can help you Smiley

Yep sorry Smiley
Have 6 GTX 1070 8gb / Asrock H81 BTC R2.0 working great with claymore, and with phoenix few days ago...
There is my command line:
Quote
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

PhoenixMiner.exe -pool eu1-etc.ethermine.org:14444 -pool2 eu1-etc.ethermine.org:4444 -wal 0xxxxx.Rig01 -coin etc -ftimeout 150
PAUSE

The window pop up, stay a few sec, then nothing, my windows always crashing when i try to open this start.bat

last line add the word PAUSE, this will keep window open and you can read what the issue is, why its closing on you.

Ya me too, I just relized I had this issue too.  So I have auto shutdown enabled and when it reboots it startups with my OC settings and then it runs the miner.  If I am not connected to that computer, active user it hangs right when connecting to server, as soon as I make the miner window active, say 20 minutes later, I gget 20 scroll of errors and all kind of mess going on.

If I am logged in as the reboot happens and the window is active it does not hand after 6 cards available...connecting.

I think this is the same issue, active window hangs.

Ya that is the original statement from like the 2.3 release.  I have been following all along and the Dev said he would try to get solo/geth/parity mining out with 2.7a, thus the question to confirm that it is not working as I don't want to troubleshoot something if it is still not available.  Alot of past release notes are no longer valid when there are 5 or 6 releases since.
