And again, folks confuse "use of technology" with "use of the coin".

The articles clearly state that JP Morgan is planning to integrate/in process of integrating some of the ZEC *TECHNOLOGY* into their own blockchain-based platform - which will NOT use ZEC the coin.

This is a LOT more clear-cut based on what the articles SAY as opposed to the confusion of "Ripple Technology" vs the use of XRP the coin.

But yes, the spike DOES appear to be based on that news - and it's good for us miners as long as the price stays up, even if the reason is wrong. 8-)

The reason is not wrong. The Team stands behind the coin and the technology. Good PR for the team is good PR for zcash.

So you also think that ETH is a big bubble and better to invest in ETC?
Really?

In my opinion one day ETH will have more value than Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is only a payment method but ETH is more than only this.

I cashed out a lot and bought a nice car ( Porsche 997 Turbo ;-)   )

Now I wanted to invest arround 50 BTC in one next Altcoin and just forget again about this one ;-)

Which coin you think could be a good performer in the next 3 years?

Being disconnected from the main site makes us less official, which in turns makes the media less likely to use someones inane post as a source of valid information.

The pool site doesn't know your actual hash rate, it just guesses based on how many shares you submit.

I have one game which I play where the difference between 7-7-7 and 9-9-9 has an effect on the game... Dwarf Fortress!

IMO 32gb sounds nice, but you're going to end up sacrificing speed to hit that. I think you'd be better off with 8gb or 16gb and some 7-7-7 (or faster) chips.

There is one other factor that is being overlooked here when people say they will stop mining and start buying.

Even if you're below the point of breaking even, you're still getting discount coins. If coins are trading for $8, and it costs you $4 per coin to mine them, you're still getting coins at 50% off their cost.

Not really... if it helps them take over a market, they are quite willing to give away things for free a la IE vs Netscape.

Yes they do have free products (IE, Defender, Live), but without a *paid* windows OS you can't use them, so it's not quite the same comparison.

Windows 95/98 keys should be cheap nowadays.
gl finding drivers.

No matter how often you try, humor is so often lost on the internet. Just the concept of something free from M$ is a joke.

With that in mind, I'd be more concerned that whatever is causing the lockups might lead to more damage then cutting the power would.

Physical damage most likely will not occur, however that doesn't make it a good idea. My first thought is that a standard light timer could never handle the current that your machines are pulling. If any of your machines load the block chain, a hard reboot could corrupt it and cause issues.

You don't mention what OS your running, but it should support some way of scheduling a reboot.

A few years ago I was in a position where I could order almost any component at wholesale prices, and I can confirm that yes, they are not much lower then what you would expect to see at NewEgg, Etc. Your best shot at cheap cards are still sales and other people.
