Re: Why chose BITCOIN rather than other investments e.g. Stocks/shares
by

At this point there are serious problems with Bitcoin.  You can read about them on the forum or just search the latest news from today about fees and transaction times.  There will always be stocks that can give the same or similar returns.  Everything is a bubble right now in all sectors so it's best to do lots of reading before you invest in anything.  Go with what you know or feel most comfortable with...don't ever invest in anything because people are promising you great returns.  Stay far away from people like that.  With any investment there is a risk of total loss or even worse in some cases like futures.

You're right. Always the best way is to make your own decisions regarding investments. There are so many shares out there that some of them will be more profitable if bought today than bitcoin. (At the moment, btc is 17,300 dollars.) After all, bitcoin is not producing any new products to add value, it just is.

You have free electricity so you should expect to be profitable. But bitcoin price fluctuating, you can't calculate the exact income. Bitcoin itself can't be changed that way, there are all kinds of projects trying to fork or do different altcoin that is asic-resistant but you are safe for now on.

The market is so new that if you have all resources (lots of capital etc) I think you can benefit. But it's hard taken into account all delays and fees and definetely not for me.

I'm on the market to keep my position from a few hours to a few days, so the coin can also go down to hell, the important is that it makes some corrections and that I catch those corrections.

That's probably true, but wouldn't you feel more safe if there would be a bright future for the coin? In that rare case that you would fail predicting the correction. Or you never fail?

What is your profit % in BTC/alt or BTC/fiat trading?

I'm quite new to cryptoworld and this trading thing seems interesting but before jumping in to that, I'd like to know what kind of profits can you expect? For me, trading bitcoin to altcoins would be possible, or possibly bitcoin to fiat. What kind or profits have you generated in percents, please. For a month (or week, or year?)

Re: Bitcoin all over London underground

When an investment become successful, many companies will try to sell it. I seen many ads everyday in Google ads, Facebook ads and even local classified websites showing thousands of successful cases and asking you to invest in Bitcoin.

This is normal I guess.

That's bit different because Google and Facebook know that you are intrested in bitcoins so they target those adds to you. In my opinion, underground is more mainstream. I saw them on Jubilee line stations London Bridge and Canary Wharf (big screens there), by the way.

Thanks for your advice I will still stick on airdrops, I don't know what awaits me in January because that's when the loan Cooperative  will be needing their payment..
Please how do I get the book written by Alexander Elder. All I need is encouragement to face up things within me.

I see that you are panicing, but is it really vice to use money on investment books at this point? Of course if you have a good public library system in your country (I don't know where you are from) then reading is good. And you have two months before you have to pay, maybe you can study other options for paying / other kind of loan. Do you dare to tell us where you are from (understand if not.)?

Would be cool if you could provide a picture of something visual to back up your subject that bitcoin is all over the London underground, sure it will be present especially in a major city such as London but to be plastered all over the underground system I find that hard to believe.

I would really be interested to know which company would be reaching out like this as they must already have a decent user base to afford this type of advertising.

Well, of course I haven't been in all the stations and technically speaking I can't say it's necessarily all over the place, only those places I use. Maybe I can take a picture of some add at some point.

Bitcoin all over London underground
by

on 10/11/2017, 15:48:14 UTC
I came back to London after being away for a while and noticed something is different. Now there is all kinds of bitcoin (and ethereum) commersials all over the place, trying to sell people crypto investment services. I've always been told that if investing becomes so popular that it is discussed in the pubs you should sell. This makes me kind of worried. What do you think?

I'm revisiting this topic, searched some more (reddit etc) and I'm still confused. Is there any notion from those older big companies that they are into this? Where can I find that?

Never underestimate other peoples greed in business. By that I mean that if loaning money and buying altcoins would be effective way to get rich, everyone would have done that already. And not just that, those people who have money to lend wouldn't have lended you the money but invested in altcoins themselves. Because that is not happening, it's not so good idea after all.

Do you have any opportunity to take some other loan that you can buy back bit by bit and get some money from work? And then, if you dare to put some very small amounts (tens of dollars) to altcoins or some other risky business if you are really sure what you are doing. Forget the idea of getting rich, that never works.

Re: Rank updates?
by
Zzzetor
on 31/10/2017, 15:19:17 UTC
Here we go with another thread asking about this, and people are giving the same
answers over and over.  This is tiresome and the answer to ranking up really needs
to be stickied in bright bold red letters on the front page of meta, where this
question gets asked the most.  These threads should also be moved to beginners &
help.

It's also annoying that so many newbies are so concerned with rank here.  I've never
seen this attitude on another forum (and I know why.  It's because they're so anxious
to start spamming for money).

I see your point but I've been in some other sm forums as well and I'm used to that activity count equals message count almost instantly and that's it. (Of course they have no need to slow ranking up when there is no money involved.) So I can see that someone can genuinely be confused about this system here even if I see clearly why it exists.

A quick question you can lose activity ? Or is something you earn and it will only go up ?

I saw one person complaining about reduced activity count somewhere here in Bitcointalk, I don't remember where. It was due to deleting messages/threads. So it seems theoretically, if the thread where you post is moved for good, activity count can go down without you doing anything really bad.

This coin has no wikipedia entry, I didn't find any press release whatsoever from Renault point of view about this ... Also read some reddit discussion about that (lack of information from the other side.) I am not excited about this.

Even though there is no certain limit one can ask what are the benefits of posting 100 post/day? If you have so much to say, can you write more information on one post instead of making large number of them. Or am I missing something here?

Re: The future of altcoins
by

Saying Altcoins don't have a future is crazy. This is the new Wall Street. It is going to replace the stock market eventually and there is nothing they can do to stop it.

Well that's not going to happen. Stocks have their own purpose. That is, divide big corporations in smaller pieces because no one can afford to own any major company. No stock exchange would mean no big companies at all.

Re: The future of altcoins
by
Zzzetor
on 30/10/2017, 16:57:43 UTC
why? because people will continue to accept the fraud that the top 100 cryptocurrencies can keep themselves intact via privileged massmedia propaganda and energywasting? or via a syndicate like established media system (coin listenings at coinmarketcap) the point is that the current media propaganda also creates their reality, bitcoin was worth at the beginning 0 and only the claim it is worth something caused it to be belived to be valuable today.

i expect in the future not just currencies to start decentralise but also mass media focus and "expert opinions" attention. even facts will become decentral because claimed facts also create reality.

this will then lead of course to a collapse of the current cryptocurrencies that are in an advantage due to the mass media privileged attention that they currently enjoy

lets see how they will do then.

PS: if those at the lower end of Coinmarketcap would be smart and i think soon they will. they simply create their own Coin market caplist with their own facts to make those facts then a reality. Since we decentralise currencies, why not also decentralise facts too.
no one knows where those volumes of bitcoin ehtereum and else comes from, they could have been faked at the begining between smaller groups.
this facts splitting is in my oppinion sooner or later unavoidable it will happen and the market will divide.

regards

This post got me thinking and checking from coinmarketcap website how these are calculated ... It turned out that they are simply multiplying price and circulation supply (https://coinmarketcap.com/faq/ ) So, if you have a coin and it's traded somewhere publicly and you search the supply, you realize they can't make those market caps out of thin air. (Theorethically it would be possible to leave some coin out of the list but I won't see why someone would cheat that way round.)

Re: Is DogeCoin even worth buying?
by
Zzzetor
on 30/10/2017, 15:22:55 UTC
I see a large amount of sell orders for DogeCoin, and from the looks of the Bear charts, DogeCoin looks like a dying currency. If I was looking for a "long-term" currency, DogeCoin is the one I would avoid...?   Huh

Interested to hear the community's thoughts on this?

If 'long-term' and 'currency' are the key words here you could buy doge. I mean, it's not going to sky but it probably will be around after couple of years and you can use it as a currency, at least in some communities ( =reddit) Seen that way, it could be more stabile than some random new coin.
