Has it ever been established what chips are in these s19's.  Is it not possible that these are still 7nm BM1397?  Whatsminer is getting 86 th out of the 8nm?

It would be beneficial to include for home miners which models have low power settings.  A 2.5-3 kw miner can be used in home/hobby setting with a low power mode.  Power input voltage is also handy as quick reference on a list since some mfg's require 220v and other list 185~285V.

With that being said, I would request a separate thread on voltage regulation.  I recall Phil had mentioned, think it was s15 thread Norstar Power Converter with Voltage Stabilizer and a Larson Buck/Boost Step-Down Transformer as options but have seen a follow up as far as functionality or durablity.

All good points, but how good is deal if btc goes to 12k, 14k or higher before December?  Kinda seems like Bitmain wants us to buy their product now.

Re: Antminer ducting
by

This is how i am set up.

Box fan > wire shelf with 2 miners & psu (1 per shelf) > (6" fan adapter > 6" insulated duct)/miner= 2 exhaust ducts.

I was looking at introducing the y to combine the exhaust ducts with inline booster fan to push exhaust added distance, but I think I'd have to increase duct size rather than continue with 6" duct.  So rather than the 6x6x6 y i would need 6x6x8  or 6x6x10 with appropriate booster.

Last night i tried lengthened ducting to make curve out window on one line.  = fan speed increased and temps rose slightly.  I'll add booster and try that tonight.

Antminer ducting
by
abeandund
on 28/03/2019, 19:04:34 UTC
I've been experimenting with ducting for purpose of reducing sound and later directing heat.  I have a s9i and a t9 with insulated 6" flexible duct.  Straight run right now and have been playing with length to monitor the sound.

I am experimenting with length but have not introduced change in direction. 3-10 feet have no noticeable negative effect on miners temps or fan speed.  Temp and fan speed have both reduced since introducing ducts.  The tube has nearly silenced the high fan noise.  Still hear the intake fan, but its a hum vs. squeal.

I haven't bought a y yet and i have one booster ready to put in use.  I'm looking about 15ft distance from miners to exit point.

I am wondering if I bring the two ducts together with a y and a booster would that handle continued length of 6" flexible ducting to direct heat outside.  If this is possible I just buy the y and assemble.

Option 2 bring ducts together but booster both ducts before y and added length.

My fall back option is booster both ducts before adding length to both.

Re: power consumption

I am no electrician - I had to pay one to do my wiring - but from my understanding, this looks like I could install this on the outlet?

The split transformer would make it real easy, no disassembly to thread hot lead through, just snap over.  mounting is the most difficult aspect of these type meters. Just make sure to kill the power to the line before installing.

Most of these products don't come with power wires, but you can use any wire.

I've always used the kill-a-wat meters on 120 outlets but when i switched to 240 for miners this seemed more practical.  I was going to make it portable but found it just as easy to install new meter for each use then do simple math as I added or subtracted from PDU.

There are you tube vids on installing the meter.

What about using something like:

https://www.amazon.com/DROK-80-300V-Voltmeter-Multimeter-Transformer/dp/B01MRZAFAF/

Put them anywhere you want.  At the breaker box or at an outlet.  Even make an adapter to be portable.  It's kinda future proof.  Lots of different brands and price ranges.

some even have the split transformer:

https://www.amazon.com/Current-Amperage-Voltmeter-Multimeter-Transformer/dp/B07JB9B2QL/

Prices are all over the place but can usually find one of the brands in the $10-$15 range.

Re: Any suggestions or experiences on using a voltage stabilizer/regulator
by

My S9i with apw3++ has been fine with 248-252.  Mostly at 249-250. depending on time of day.

Last fall power company sank a new pole in front of house with new transformer to supply 2 new houses with a total of 5 houses supplied from the one.  Not sure once the new houses are occupied if I'll still be sitting at 250 or if I'll drop back closer to 240.

Until that first PSU problem was brought up with the input voltage, I was understanding that most everything was assumed to operate in that 220-260 unless specifically stated otherwise.  (obviously I'm referring to 200+ circuits not 120 lines)

I'm not the OP but I appreciate the research and testing, so that I'll be be better informed and what I should do or what is not necessary when I upgrade to S15 and beyond.

The suggestion is dont waste the money because it will do nothing for you.

The PSU IS the voltage regulator for the miner. That is why they have a variable input range but always output a stable voltage. Whether you feed a PSU 210v or 240v, the DC output will still be the same.

You should double and triple check what you hear, especially on the internet, because whoever told you that is pretty clueless.

What kills ASICs is poor environmental management 99 times out of 100

I think the OP's question is valid.  The topic interested me after hearing possible problems with the S15 power supplies requiring stable 220 voltage.  I keep checking for that vary reason after Phil started looking into:

@ yankees.

I purchased this item  in theory it will put out 220v +/-  5%  so 209-231

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071V5NXZV/

My input is 243.1 and my output is 220.7 on my hand held meter

the meter on the unit read 243 in and 220 out.

If the new units need to run @ 220  I would need more info before purchasing a 7nm Antminer with my input of 248-252v

Can you follow up further?

Antminer-S9i-all-201811071119-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar.gz ..... I am using this one

Antminer-S9i-xilinx-201811301418-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar.gz ........ so how does this one do?

If I'm reading bitmains details the 20181130 firmware correctly, hash rate and power efficiency are both lowered.

I'm getting the same numbers as you posted from the 20181107 firmware +/- depending on fan speed/ambient temps.  I'm looking at
which direction to go when season changes next:  flash bitmains firmware when needed or try braiins.

If braiins is better all around, Have you done one of your video's on braiins?

Thank you, Sir.

I'll just not spend from that address until done mining.  Will there ever be a way to sign, other then switching back to legacy addresses?

BTW I used your tool, that you helped me install last year, to decode the uri payment last week and it still works flawlessly.  Thank you.

segwit and mining pool
by

on 27/12/2018, 18:29:57 UTC
I am wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

I've been using segwit P2SH-P2WPKH address for the last year.
I went to change my payout address on a mining pool, Slush and to do that.  It is merely signing a message to unlock that option.  When I went into armory to sign their message from that address I got a pop up message saying:

You are attempting to sign a message with a P2SH address.  This feature is not supported at the moment.

then next pop up saying:

The private key is not known for this address.

I hadn't changed the pool payout address since I started using the segwit vs. legacy addresses.  With Legacy I had always changed addresses each time I spent. The segwit address spent just fine but don't really want to keep funding it with mining.  So I am wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

I appreciate the help.

Just to make sure I'm on the same page:  Rather than create full node secure wallet with Armory---fund---gift wallet seed.  Do the same thing except use a reputable executable "light" wallet that has similar backup/restore procedure fund that---gift wallet seed.
That seems simplest to me, Bye pass import/sweep of wallet generator type paper wallet, simply restore from seed & update pass phrase.

Thanks.

I sent a dead T9+ back to Bitmain (USA CA address) and got the notification that they received it.
Does anyone have any experience with the turnaround time for repair / contact back from them?

Thanks,
Dave

I sent a T9+ to the USA CA address via UPS on June 1 and had a new unit in hand on the June 18
