built it yesterday for litecoin. turns out it munches more than 1200W so have to install a 1500W PSU for it. four asus 7970s, athlon 215 CPU. i pulled some industrial mechanical switches from a '60s generator control box - power red & reset yellow. need to find analogue amper gauge for it too. took a whole day to cut out this weatherproof electrical meters box. another day to assemble. hardest was to make IO shield fit with MB. im tired.

You need to paint that box battleship grey Smiley

How much power is SATA cable rated for?
I have 5830's that's undervolted, and was thinking of using SATA to PCI-E power cables.
Don't!!!
It can handle no more than 5 amps so no more than 50-60W. And the connector is the problem, not the cable, the connecting surface is too small.

been running 5830s on sata->pcie power connectors for over a year.  no problems.

BTW, reinforcements are here, 33 more 7950, I simply couldnt resist the price. Pictures to be soon. If I am correct, I will be at 80GHs now Smiley

Gutsy move with asics around the corner.  Right now you are looking at maybe $65/month gross assuming no change in diff.  Expect that to be reduced to $20/month in about 1 month and less than $5/month after that. I'd be surprised if you see a payback period under a couple of years.

Don't use Bitstamp.  They are currently not performing USD fiat withdrawals. My guess is some kind of money crunch or theft that they refuse to publicize. There are people that have been waiting over 2 months for their funds to be moved out of Bitstamp. There are people looking to spearhead a class action lawsuit against them.

there are tons of people having issues.  see https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitstamp/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/BitstampOfficial/

I used to be a supporter of Bitstamp, not any more.  The past few months something has been going on with Bitstamp and they won't be forthcoming with the truth.  All you will get is excuses and delay tactics.

Re: ANTMINER S2 Discussion and Support Thread
by

I've put up a new master cgminer AntS2 firmware in my cgminer-binaries git
of current git cgminer 4.9.1+ modified from the last Bitmain firmware 29-Oct-2014 and including all the changes I did last year
https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS2
whether there is support - Extranonce subscription in the firmware? Thank you.
No and never will be.
Not interested in adding another MITM stratum security risk.
Why? there's a reason for this?

"Extranonce subscription" = altcoin, which conman and kano have indicated that cgminer will not support.

Re: AntMiner S4 fan replacement.
by
abracadabra
on 12/05/2015, 00:45:51 UTC
I recently had a fan go out on my AntMiner S4.  Upon reading the following article, I ordered Delta PFC1212DE fans as a replacement.

https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204199879-Antminer-S4-fan-specification-and-possible-replacement-fans

I replaced the front and back fans, closest to the PSU.

The colour of the wires were not the same on the old and new fans.  They both had red, black, and blue which I connected together.  The 4th wire on the old fan is white which I connected to a yellow wire on the new fan.

Now when I turn the S4 on, the old fans power up as normal, but the new fans only come on for a few seconds and then shut off.

The S4 will run for a while before stutting down due to overheating.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tom Travis

On Delta pinout is as follows:

Black -> GND
Red -> +12V
Yellow -> RPM sense wire.
Blue -> PWM control wire.

I am not sure for pinout on original S4 fan but I would say that you did it correctly. It could be they are too strong but they should work.
