Re: NEM Official Thread {Updates & Discussion}

Hi NEM community!

A week ago I found out that NEM tokens were on sale so I bought 2.9 @ 25K NXT and my wife 0.5 (around 80K NXT total), then found out that there is a limit of 2.0, so I already am in breach. I do not have any stakes because I was too bold and naive when requesting them.

In the light of recent events, I wanted to ask you, whether there is a chance that limit of 2.0 NEM tokens per person (actually NXT account) can be lifted?
I ask this just to enquire if it is ok to pursue my initial intentions (see my post history).

If the limit of 2.0 tokens is not lifted, I will sell the excess.

can someone help me with decompiling?  I unzipped the .jar and see lots of class files there but decompiling them gives no nxt source code.

Which soft are you using for decomp?

Ok, overlooked your answer. Have you tried JAD? It is a great experience working with it, though have not yet tried decompiling NXT. Commandline debugger was enough so far.

I have more than 2M NXT actually, but why does it matter? This was publicly announced on nextcoin.org forum in thread about stakeholders so you need a deeper research to find out foul play.

If there is something wrong in this application, please explain. But then also explain how did you expect my 3yo son and 60 yo mother to browse this forum to get out of newbie sandbox, post messages and install Java.

Besides, I have a few friends, who I also could help out this way, but I decided to just inform them buy giving instructions on what should be done.

What is a 3 year old or a 60 year old with no interest in cryptos going to do with NEM? Nothing.
You are violating the spirit of NEM by hoarding. Why do you think he requires PMs? To counteract this sort of bullshit.
I have a cousins, uncles, grandparents, parents, siblings, niece etc. is it then ok for me to get 10 NEM accounts on their behalf?

There is just something fishy about the way you presented it. "I have transferred 25 and 50 and 100 USD to a NXT account" when you admit they don't care about NXT. Why would someone who just became rich on NXT only transfer $25 to someone who don't care about NXT? That $25 will never grow into a big fortune, so what's even the point? Nothing.

It's way beyond obvious that you are doing this to get a hold of a bigger stake by yourself and it is disgusting given the fact that you are a part of NXT too.

This sad Uniqueorn that you accuse me. I expected better of you, at least a request of proof that these coins will end up with people I intended. And what is wrong about me being part of NXT?

I am not accusing you. I am using examples of what you are saying *whilst* quoting you directly.
I have already asked hypothetically if this is allowable in NEM, because obviously I want all of my family and friends and future aquiantances to have NEM too, so I guess making 50 accounts like people are doing in this thread is A-OK because I can provide a picture of them or something?

The sad thing about it is that I thought you were a genuine member of the community and you have signed up to go to the Berlin conference, which means you have a certain responsibility to represent NXT (since you volunteered), but now it seems you are just a greedy oppourtunist.

In my opinion it is baffling to think that you could read the original post and interpret it as "oh sure make accounts for 3 year olds because they certainly care about cryptocurrencies!"

In that application I just said what I was thinking and never assumed to be scolded about it. Today before I read your post I explained NEM to my collegues and promised "seed" NXT as they have no cryptos and I of course I would have sent it from my account and of course this would trigger another lashing. Now obviously I have to seed them in stealth mode.

Most baffling to me is your attitude towards making an a account for my children. My daughter is 5 and she sees me trading and following charts - she knows what this is, so making an account for her, why shouldn't I do it for my other kid. For now it looks like a game to me and them.

And shaming me for being nexter is wrong too - I paid 40K USD for this hobby and so far it was an interesting experience and awarding too, but you are bringing this down very effectively.

Well I'm from Germany, from a small village where the children have other interests ....
But from me you can have 100 shares but do not tell no tales here!
Really unbelievable because I lack the words really.
It's not about whether it is true what you are telling me it would be even more sad if it were so.I really do not begrudge you every share, but not in this way

Regards

Now you are taking it further. I am a bad parent as well.

Did spread some word too. Next week is my sons birthday so we will have a small family party.
I will announce that I have created several NXT accounts for them, something I wanted to do a while ago already and that I transfered amounts of
equvalent 25, 50 and 100 USD in NXT.
In addition I will announce that all of them take part in NEM too.

These are the accounts that sent fee of 80 NXT:

17590477386098340083
2717278220125207230
12661008007105420190

Not sure where this is going but sounds interesting.

Will add signatures promptly.

Have you not enough with your over 2 million Nxt Coins?

Do not give me fairy tales my dear

This is your Nxt Account : 10707482695518048392

That looks a lot like Envy to me...

Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning

They are NXTers. And low tier to boot.  They are followers; you can't expect them to question authority.
I for one thank you for wording my doubts.

30,000 BTC or 300 BTC, does not matter - there is no wrong question when you're asking other people's money.
but if you're dealing with 30,000 BTC, no stone should be left unturned within legal and contractual framework.

Actually, most Ether followers hate Nxt.  Nxt had an IPO of 21 BTC (1 BTC was from the founder).  The creator (BCNext) didn't allow anyone to invest more than 1BTC.  Most people were skeptical, called it a scam, so they didn't invest and he launched Nxt.  Then everyone screamed that the distribution was unfair and they didn't have enough time to invest.  Personally, I don't like large public IPO's for crypto's, it's lame, if it's POW, it should be launched for free and mined.  POS is tricky, because it has to be launched all at once, I don't think any POS will have a small IPO after Nxt.  Regardless, I'll avoid Ether, it's going to be killed by greed.
Vitalik hates NXT - nothing ever mentioned by him or his magazine about it. He pretends as if it non exists!
Go figure...
 Cheesy

When I asked when was the deadline to invest in NXT while it was still open, it was suddenly closed without any advance notice, and I was not allowed to invest in it. The deadline was not clear in the announcement, but most people, including myself, thought it was January 3, 2014. The genesis block was not created yet. It is very clear to me that they did not want any further dilution of existing investment, though no one will admit this. If there was some technical reason for ending the pre-sale early without advance notice, they could have just said something to the effect of "We are closing the sale now, so if you want to send in your Bitcoin you need to do so within the next X hours." They did allow another coin in which was sent while I was waiting for an answer. A week later, NXT was being sold at a 4762% markup over the presale price.

The presale of Ethereum, like that of Mastercoin, is very well defined with a clearly defined period of investment, and in the case of Ethereum, a clearly defined limit on total investment. NXT, on the other hand, was arbitrarily closed at the convenience of the founder with no advance warning, and not everyone who was interested was allowed to invest.

I think the situation with Ethereum the same. IPO could end next day, 2nd of Feb, if someone with IGS (incurable greed syndrome) invests 29500 BTC. So people many disappoint not get coin any...

I heard somebody said Next is going to be 30$ in 2 years, what do you guys think? for 1 year and 2 year?

That "somebody" was wrong. By the end of this year we'll see 100$ for 1 NXT.

Don't get too excited - could be a huge dollar-crash as well  Wink

Will we start company "Email2Cryptmarketcap for adding Nxt"? Grin
I can ask help about 3 thousand nxt followers on http://vk.com/cryptonxt .Do they realy want to answer on so much emails?)))

Not bad! This could be automated. Run the algo for 3000 items like "bublik@bublik.ru", get accounts, send monies, notify users how to use client and retieve them. This campaign could be called One-time-NXT2email.

Not sure I understand your question. You mean max number of collected business-cards? I doubt we would get more than 500, so total expenses to be funded would be 500x20 + 3x1000, so under 25K NXT.

I also think 50% of them would not the collect these funds, so we can retrive them back, so a deadline is needed.

If this gets 250 people who try out NXT, it's mission accomplished.

I just got another idea - what about using NXT system for activities like geo-caching. Give clues and people search for accounts... accounts contain pizes. Maybe too wild Smiley

Micro-bounty offer.

Just a small idea for marketing activities at the coming "Inside Bitcoin" events. We could have a win/win lottery for collected business cards. Like every contact who left a card could receive say 20 NXT, and three of them could go up to 100, 500 or even 1000 NXT. This would attract interest.

Now the best proposal on how to arrange this with the least management (emailing back and forth, managing lists etc.) gets 50 NXT.

I too participate in this contest. My idea is that we "create" and top up accounts where the passphrase is their email. And Then we notify them to collect the monies and transfer them somewhere safe.

Two screenshots of what I've been busy with for my NXT Solaris client. To be released over the weekend, since I need a rest.

Market view

Personal account management showing NXT values in other currencies

Be careful with the market view, though. You know, it's closed source and I might have something in there that influences the markets in the direction I want...  Wink

Killer!

Any news on how to make this kind of open-source for trustfulness?

Define "kind of open source". :-)

It already is partial open source. Full open source is not going to happen.

My take on this: Define how much you are willing to risk based on the level of trust that you have for a software. Only enter account secrets for accounts that have assets that matches your level of trust and accepted risk, e.g. create small asset accounts with another software and only enter secrets for these small stake accounts in my software. You could still use the "view only" functionality for your big stake accounts in my client and of course all other functions that don't require you to enter a secret.

Marcus03, again, this is fantastic!

Will absolutely use it in "view" until it gains trust. Maybe there is enough community movement and funding to rewrite the "offending" libraries. Smiley
Count me in at least for funding. In the meantime i am reading about Qt.

well...DOGE has passed BTC in 24 HOUR Volume per CMC...is this the first time ever that has happened? (sorry only joined cryptos last november...)  Huh

Hopefully NXT get's there in the future  Tongue

until recently LTC was the only thing that even came close. Maybe during some LTC frenzy it did, but I seriously doubt it as all the LTC frenzies were during BTC frenzies.

This is definitely historic moment. DOGE is proving that BTC is vulnerable. If DOGE can unseat BTC's trading volume, then it isn't so crazy for people to accept NXT unseating BTC market cap. I would much rather have BTC marketcap for NXT than BTC trading volumes.

James

What looks odd for the past days - DOGE turnover is 1/3 of its supply. How is that possible?

Anonymity (no passport required) and fair voting is quite impossible under circumstances where one person can hide behind several accounts.
Besides even in elections where passport id is required it is very often the case that votes are bought.

So someone rich paying minions to cast the desired vote is a real possibility. I wonder if this will ever happen in NXT community.
Those must be damn important decisions to trigger something like that.
