Anybody else having problems with Bitstamp's API today?
by

Hi,

I was using Bitstamp's API for quite some time now and everything worked just fine. However, as of today all private functions (account balance, user transactions, etc.) return garble instead of the expected JSON.

Is anybody else having this problem or knows what the issue here is?

- Was sind eure Erfahrungen?

[verkauft] Rig-Auflösung, 3x Sapphire Extreme 5830, 936MHash/s
by

on 12/07/2012, 22:31:27 UTC
Hi,

verkaufe meinen Rig, entweder in Einzelteilen oder komplett:

- 3x Sapphire Extreme ATI 5830 1GB, OVP
- Motherboard 790FX
- Lian Li Test-bench, offenes PC-Gehäuse
- 900W Netzteil Antec HCG-900

Das ganze Set gibts auch fertig zusammengeschraubt, mit Festplatte, Prozessor, Windows XP und gemoddete Graphikkartenadaptern um mehrere Karten ohne Bildschirm gleichzeitig nutzen zu können.
Alles funktioniert einwandfrei, hab ca. 312MHash/s pro Grafikkarte.

MfG

Update: Verkauft

Pool secretly sidelining hashing-power?
by
aim6i
on 11/08/2011, 23:15:38 UTC
Hi!

I want to make clear that this is not meant to be a accusation of anybody, instead rather some questions that I hope somebody can prove as wrong.  Roll Eyes

Would it be possible for a big pool to secretly sideline some of the total hashing power to another pool or to solo mining?
A big pool could easily divert a very small percentage of its hashing power without anybody noticing. This "side"-hashing-power could be connected to another pool or simply to solo mining which would make it nearly undetectable.

As far as I understand this matter it could be theoretically possible as it is the pool deciding which piece of work the miners receive.

I was thinking about this theory lately because I did notice a significant difference between deepbit and BTCGuild over the past 5 weeks. I was pointing my miners to both pools, 50:50. However, with deepbit I almost always had a better BTC/24h ratio than with BTCGuild EVEN THOUGH deepbit subtracts a 3%-fee! In total it made a difference of around 1 btc which is not huge but very annoying nevertheless.  Sad

Of course there is a lot of luck in the game, but in a time span of 5 weeks this variance should be heavily diminished.

Hi Tycho (or anybody else  Wink ), just another short question.
I couldn't find an explanation for "pass" in the account overview at the worker's-stats. What is this number for?

Thanks,
Jonas

Tycho, is there anything reliable that you can say about down-times due to ddos- or dns-attacks?
Because I really like your service over all other pools I have tried but I'm tired of checking my hashrate every 20minutes just to see if deepbit is down again or not.
Is there any statement possible at which point the servers will be stable again?

Greetz

He is doing the best he can I am sure.
Some floods are quite simply not possible to stop, block, or do anything other than nullroute the IP (taking the site offline).

I am impressed that when I see them knock deepbit.net offline, the pool still accepts our work, and still records it.

He's done a great job keeping everything working, and you guys should try to understand whats involved here, rather then just asking when it will be fixed.

There is no problem to 'fix', and I don't expect the DDOSings to continue for long.
It was probably some looser either trying to stop the difficulty from increasing much, or trying to stop Tycho from having +50% of the hashrate.

All in all my workers only lost an hour in the last few days... That's not a big deal at all.

Thanks.
This is exactly how I think, I'm not accusing Tycho for these problems. I'm sure he is doing the best he can.

Btw, would it be realistic to think that these attacks could also exist because people want miners to go offline in order to drastically decrease the difficulty for a week?

Re: Verification Fail, Check Hardward. Need Help!! Ill Tip for solution.

Ok guys, here is help! Yesterday I was setting up my rig with several 5830 under windows XP and hat the exact same error: "Verification failed, check hardware!" Wenn I had just one card plugged in, everything was working perfectly fine.

It has something to do with the Kernel32.dll which is a library in windows. My problem was, that I had a fresh Version of Windows XP SP1 running without any updates. So all I had to do was updating to SP3 and now it works just fine with all cards running simultaniously. (updating to SP3 should be enough, however I installed all other updates too, just to be safe).

I hope this helps you solving this problem.

I love deepbit for their transparency but the pool's fee of 3% is too much in my opinion. Other pools do it just based on donations. And 3% is really much more than they need for their server's infrastructure.

I also like deepbit.net, I've been using it for a while now and never had any downtimes. The downside is the 3%fee you have to pay at this pool.

I'm afraid I have to correct myself: the 5 (or6) posts are totally ok, but the 4hours are a pain in the ass  Huh
There are issues that I really want to answer to but I guess have to wait and wait and wait...

Re: 5830 hot even when idle

I also had a case with really nice coolings inside. This let me run a 5830 @ 80C. But some days ago i left the side of my tower open and since then it has been running at cool 70C so that I could even turn down the fan-speed to about 65%.
Sounds like there is really something going wrong with either your computer or your video card.
