Do you think most people that have a profile on Facebook will invest? I have a feeling they are going to make their user experience really easy for people to invest almost as easy it is to donate to charity or buy a eventpass ticket

Are Privacy Coins under Scrutiny?
by
akeegan
on 02/10/2019, 17:12:22 UTC
With the announcement of the FATF guidance rules earlier this year privacy coins seem to be suffering as a result. Coinbase UK dropped Zcash, OKEx delisted five privacy coins as did Upbit.

Monero, Zcash and Dash are all valued at under half of their July prices.

Does this mean the end of all privacy for crypto?

One company in particular CipherTrace is working with exchanges to validate transaction data without having to actually share data itself which helps with the FATF travel rule. This will offer some degree of assurance but true anonymity may not thrive. What are your thoughts?

Re: The Hottest Commodity: Virgin Bitcoin

I am intrigued by the idea of virgin BTC however I don't think it makes sense to pay extra for non tainted money. I would hope there would be an alternative to helping 'clean' or identify the ledger as separate from the owner.

Blockchain forensic companies are likely to be the ones who are going to take precedence on this topic.

I actually wonder that too. Ultimately if people stopped believing in it and giving it value then it is possible

It sounds more like Ciphertrace's proposed TRISA is in place for exchanges to align with their KYC?

There are so many incredible meetups and workshops I am sure your city offers. There are even a few influencers who I would look more into on twitter who offer some free online courses and they're quite helpful

Proof of Credit Mining aka POCM
by
akeegan
on 13/09/2019, 21:44:09 UTC
POCM is a platform that allows projects to generate tokens before and after launch. Projects are able to use the platform to create a staked coin output (SCO) and those holding NULS can stake to the new project and receive generated tokens.

The project would then receive NULS staking revenue that would otherwise default to holders thus allowing the projects to utilize NULS to further fund their project.

Well from the sounds of it exchanges are going to have to abide by the travel rule regardless. Meaning either they are going to have to come up with their own technology to deal with AML or they're going to have to find a reputable source or technology like ciphertrace's.

I think we can have privacy focused companies like Ciphertrace who help track large amounts of suspicious activity. They're working with major exchanges but believe in crypto ethos
