Re: Trading bot to sell

I think it's important to highlight to everyone what automated trading means. If you think you can launch the bot and take two weeks of holiday you are (partly) wrong. An automated bot is aimed to executed your strategy in a timely manner, at specific events. When the market moves, you may have to review your strategy and implement it in the bot. It's a skill which gives you speed in execution and analysis but not a solution if you have no strategy.

This is why it's not useful that much to share about previous results as it can vary a lot in function of the rules you will implement, the present market etc. With the rules I used (and the ones still coded in this bot) I realized 0.5% a day in July as mentioned in the OP.

Hope it helps ;-)

i´m wondering, for example, yesterday with the fall to 11something and the rise again to 12.5, when did the bot sell, and when buy?

edit. u are trading with fees? means ur bot missed the opportunity to get btc for 0.01$?

Sure. Yesterday it would have bot at 12-something (minimum since a long time) and sold at buying price + 1.5%. Market was too unpredictable to do better.

My guess is it will no longer make money once zero-fees go away on mtgox.  Making money is relatively easy when the bid/ask spread exceeds the fees.

You guess wrong. Actually I am not granted with the 0% fee privilege. I am trading with fees and making +0.5%/day. But yes fees and thin volatility don't go well together, you have at most one or two opportunities per day during a few minutes. The key feature of this bot is it has an algo to anticipate when the bitcoin is underpriced to sell a bit later when it comes back to a proper price.

Trading bot to sell

Hi all

OK so I have decided to stop trading Bitcoins because I prefer to put my money back on to the Forex. This is why I am selling my bot.

Features
- Three months of testing and tuning (before and after the crash) based on algos built on three months of data
- Requirements: PHP server with MySQL, crontab and curl.
- Bot dedicated to Mtgox. But can easily be adapted to other exchanges like Tradehill.
- Average performance +0.5%/day these last weeks (tuning the parameters every week only)
- Written in PHP. I was about to code it in Python but actually it is fast enough like that. 500ms to take a decision.
- Analyzes the order book (depth audit) every minute. Far better than bots based on the ticker only
- Check the balance and buy/sell a % of the amount available when a buy/sell signal arise
- Includes a pricing module. When this bot buys/sells, the price is calculated in order to make the exact right offer (not at the ticker price)
- Stores history in a MySQL db and analyzes the weekly (or monthly) history to take decisions
- Signals: minimum, maximum, under/over priced bitcoin, growth rates (MACD, mobile averages)
- Portfolio analysis: this bot evaluates the value of Bitcoins bought at different times in order to get an average buying price and calculate profitability.
- Console log available with 60s update
- 3-level buy/sell rules
- Stop-loss parameter (I use -1%)

I can eventually install this bot on your server. This offer is non-exclusive but we can discuss exclusivity if you want.

Please make offers here below ;-)

I have stopped trading yesterday. I was actively trading on a daily basis with a very elaborated bot but it's not worth it anymore yet I prefer to go back on Forex. Not enough liquidity to play with.

I think it might decrease yes. But predicting a target is totally absurd.

I have been watching http://bitcoin.clarkmoody.com/order-book/# today and it appears that the typical spread between bid and ask orders is greater than $0.04. Is it possible that Mt Gox commissions are now 0.3 percent for all traders?

This was supposed to be tomorrow, wasn't it?

If you compare the mobile averages you can't really spot a strong buy signal. In the same time, the order book is not solid enough to let me think people are willing to make the price rise. Make your analysis it's pretty obvious.

This is what I got on my radar:
Code:
2011-07-25 16:08:02 - ASK:14.23 BID:14.23 TREND:0.4%
2011-07-25 16:09:02 - ASK:14.23 BID:14.22 TREND:0.3%
2011-07-25 16:10:02 - ASK:14.22 BID:14.21 TREND:0.3%
2011-07-25 16:11:02 - ASK:14.21 BID:14.2 TREND:0.3%
2011-07-25 16:12:03 - ASK:14.21 BID:14.2 TREND:0.3%
2011-07-25 16:13:02 - ASK:14.22 BID:14.2 TREND:0.3%
2011-07-25 16:14:02 - ASK:14.21 BID:14.2 TREND:0.3%
2011-07-25 16:15:02 - ASK:14.22 BID:14.21 TREND:0.2%
2011-07-25 16:16:04 - ASK:14.25 BID:14.22 TREND:0.2%
2011-07-25 16:17:02 - ASK:14.25 BID:14.23 TREND:0.2%
2011-07-25 16:18:02 - ASK:14.25 BID:14.23 TREND:0.2%

So for me there is no strong buy signal yet... I just sold everything and will buy again later if there is one.

Actually it's not. The mobile average growth is very very slow and the order book doesn't show any sign of short increase.

We need to concentrate on real world bitcoin services and uses to attract people.  Trying to attract more money any other way just looks like members of a pyramid scheme trying to get more funds into the system.

THIS.
