GetGems is killin it, its efforts are on r/bitcoins front page https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/, Coinbase tweeted about it aswell but Pavel Durovs interest is something else https://twitter.com/durov. GetGems proved themselves to be the real deal, big fan.

https://www.coinbase.com/apps/55aeb83f69702d2db5000056 Julia is a quality feature, i suggest everyone to try it out, it makes managing, buying and selling Bitcoin like kids play.

I have a question about getgems platform. I minted an NFT collection and the royalty fee and sale fee goes into the collection's wallet. the problem is that I do not have access to this wallet and it's just crazy that I cannot take the money out of the collection's wallet. I asked several collection owners and creators and they said that this is how it is and it cannot be changed. do you have any suggestions? how can I withdraw the money in the collection's wallet on getgems?

Re: Why is Bitcoin so popular? Why has no other coin become popular?
by
anna_20
on 05/05/2024, 12:06:30 UTC
Bitcoin has become the top coin in the crypto world for a few reasons:

1- First in Line: Bitcoin was the first to show up on the crypto scene. Being the pioneer, it got a head start, setting up a strong base of users and security before any others popped up.

2- Brand Recognition: Pretty much everyone has heard of Bitcoin, even if they know nothing else about cryptocurrencies. It's often the go-to example in the media when talking about digital money, which keeps it in the public eye and reinforces its popularity.

3- Security and network effects: Bitcoin's system is tough to crack, making it a safe option for users. Plus, the more people join in, the stronger and more dependable it gets. This draws even more users and miners, creating a cycle that keeps building it up.

4- Everyone's Using It and infrastructure: Bitcoin has the most support—more exchanges, more wallets, more places you can use it. This wide acceptance makes it easy for people to get on board and use it in everyday life.

5- Investment and Value: Many treat Bitcoin like digital gold—a safe place to park money when the economy looks shaky. Its limited supply attracts those worried about regular money losing its value due to inflation.

6- Decentralization and Ideology: The fact that no single authority, like a government or bank, controls Bitcoin is a big deal for many. It's seen as a plus for those who want a financial world that's more in the hands of the people than the powerful.

Re: Why is Bitcoin the best asset for investment currently?
by
anna_20
on 02/05/2024, 07:13:55 UTC
There are many reasons why Bitcoin is the best asset for investment.

1- Limited supply. Because there aren't many, they can become more valuable as more people want them.

2- Decentralization: Bitcoin doesn't have a main boss like a bank or government controlling it. It's like a game where everyone follows the rules, and no single player can change them on their own.

3- Protection Against Inflation: Think of Bitcoin like a collectible item that might not lose its value even when regular money might due to things like rising prices in the economy.

4- High liquidity: You can trade Bitcoin easily, almost like swapping game cards. It's available on many platforms where you can quickly buy or sell it.

5- Good Past Performance: Over the years, some people who invested in Bitcoin early have seen their money grow more than if they had put it in things like stocks or gold.

6- Blockchain Tech: Bitcoin uses a special kind of technology that a lot of smart people think could change the way we do a lot of things in the future, not just with money.

i think rich people can handle the losses better since it won't affect their basic needs. but poor people might lose their family stability, mental health, ... after a loss! in general, gambling can be addictive regardless of someone's financial status and should be viewed as a form of fun.

Satoshi is not anonymous as other commenters profess to believe.

Satoshi is Craig Wright, didn't you peasents know?

Satoshi has returned, flipped his previous years of maticulious privacy and security measures, and has decided to make a loud bozo out of himself in a courtroom.

Craig is the real satoshi, obviously.

case closed.

how can you be so sure? the trial was last month and he turned out to be a liar! he couldn't prove it.
The group’s expert witnesses said they found hallmarks of backdated edits, created or altered using versions of software that did not exist at the time the documents were supposedly made. One document contained traces of the involvement of ChatGPT in its creation, despite the fact that the software did not exist until years after the document was supposedly written.
the original document describing bitcoin had been made using OpenOffice software, while the version provided by Wright had been written using a tool called LaTeX.

The answer seems obvious to me. Bitcoin was created as an experiment, and to exploit the creativity of the creative programmers. It was given to us with various caps and restrictions to prevent it ever becoming the dominant payment service in the world. The creators were the central banks and financial elite, and they kept back a million Bitcoin as a security for future manipulation and control, or maybe it was just an investment. The project has been massively successful, and is now being used by the financial organisations for their own purposes. We are lucky to be riding on the tail of this success, and will be able to reap the benefits as it starts to find  its planned level.

i don't like this theory. I prefer to think of Satoshi as the genius that most people say he is.

on 28/04/2024, 05:49:01 UTC
Join Pantograph's #Giveaway campaign this Friday to be the first 100 people in the world to own V-NFT (Video NFT)!

We only release 100 units of the first V-NFT.
Each V-NFT will come with a unique ID, recorded by Smart Contract, which ensures the rarity of the item.
In the next few months, we will launch the Panto Market, where you can trade NFT peer-to-peer.
The market will definitely enhance the liquidity of most NFT assets.
Hence, you can turn your NFT assets to TOMO and eventually to fiat.

Time: July 10th, 2020    09:00 AM (UTC)
Details: https://pantograph.io/win-the-first-video-nft-in-the-world/

what happens now to the money kept in those wallets?  Huh
BTC's are not stored in wallets, but on the blockchain. Since it is a self custodial wallet, in which users are in control of their funds through their seed phrase, all they need to do is to import their wallet into a different software to access their funds. Nothing is lost.

Your funds can only be confiscated if you use a custodial service that holds the keys to your wallet.

it never ceases to amaze me  Cheesy

However, there is a pop up display for the first time clicking the wallet icon where Telegram disclaim that the wallet is operated by independent party not affiliated with telegram. More reason for one to distant themselves from using such wallet.

I think this pop up message is alarming enough to make one stay away!

would you please tell me what did you mean by " to hit that block once a while and reap the jackpot profit" ?
Being the one to add the candidate block to the blockchain while mining is what I meant to say there. If you are mining solo, the entire reward is yours to keep, but if you are mining in a pool, then your prize is distributed among the pool members. Some miners are mining solo or with a pool hoping they or the pool hits a block, which is rare and hence the term "jackpot".

may I ask a question? can people introduce their NFT projects here in bitcoin forum with leaving the links to their website and social media? I thought it was against the rules. i don't know. maybe I misunderstood the rules.

Yes, you can do that. There's nothing preventing you from doing so. Just make sure to read the sticky topics to understand the rules better (don't spam, don't promote something illegal, etc.) other than that, you should be fine and if there's is a specific rule, you'd like to clarify, just post it here.

I got it. Smiley thank you for your reply.

The project does not need any investors so please beware of scammers. It's currently backed by Coinbase ventures, Polygon ventures, Solana ventures, and many other VCs[1][2].

There was a public presale, in January which was sold out in 25 minutes. The distribution is expected to be at the end of this month.

This thread is just meant to give the project more exposure and to keep the community updated. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Do check out the site whattomine, a simple search will lead you to website, there you can compare GPUs, ASICs to mine on specific algorithms and the coins supported on that algorithm, how they have been performing and what profits you can expect.

Dont think this to be a one shot winner thing, mining is almost a full time job if you want to be able to hit that block once a while and reap the jackpot profit. Decide on your electricity costs and maintenance costs, those go in the negatives while the return comes in the positive. A load of youtube videos are also there about mining, you can check those out too.

For beginners, I would suggest reading and learning about the process and the setup first and the costing. Its enough to throw your enthusiasm away, even though I am not trying to be mean, its the truth.

Re: People have a complete misunderstanding of Bitcoin.
by
anna_20
on 24/04/2024, 08:37:00 UTC
People have a complete misunderstanding of Bitcoin. They think of the 'bit' in Bitcoin as the bit in computer language. And, to some extent they are right. But the 'bit' is so much more than that, and in some ways, so much less. Here's what I mean.

The bit in the mouth of a horse can turn the whole animal at the will of the rider. But if all you have is the bit, it will fall right out of the horse's mouth. You also need the bridle if you want the bit to be able to do it's job. And you need the reins if you want control.

What is the bridle in Bitcoin? To some extent it's the blockchain. And what are the reins? They are the extent that the rider allows himself to control the horse, with or without the control of government or banking. It's up to the rider where he wants to sit in the saddle... in control of the horse, or under the thumb of government.

When does government control at least some of the Bitcoin activity? When it is public, right? Like Coinbase, and their relationship with anybody who uses their system.

But you and I can transact privately in Bitcoin, and nobody in government might even know about it. If there isn't any memo in the blockchain record, the reason why we transacted is known only to the two of us, except when we make it known to others. It's private, between you and me, and nobody can interfere, not even government.

This might sound funny regarding Bitcoin, but read the short article, "Properly Adjusting a Bridle: How to Fit a Western Bit" - https://www.aqha.com/widget/-/properly-adjusting-a-bridle - and think about how to apply the info to Bitcoin and your transacting using it.

It's time that we start to properly understand how we can totally bypass government and banking through privacy laws and rules. By going through public exchanges, we are sticking ourselves right into government. As a possible alternative, consider BISQ and BISQ 2.

What other alternatives might there be to using a public exchange? How can we turn media apps - like Telegram - into private Bitcoin transfer places that might 'push' Bitcoin into private use among a lot more people?

Cool

it's interesting that this week Telegram announced that they want to turn stickers and emojis into NFTs and it has a wallet where transaction can be done inside the app.
