I would give them credit for trying something new, albeit not an idea that everyone agrees on.

So I'm familiar with Trezor, by name only, as I saw them advertised a lot before launch. Been seeing some other ads on Facebook as of late for a diff hardware wallet called Ledger, looks more fancy, not that that really means anything.

That being said. Of all the currently available HW wallets, what do you use if any, and why ?

I do know the trezor is ~$55 while Ledger which comes with a nano ver or some such shit is ~$150.

Been contemplating getting one vs a locally stored wallet file / paper wallet etc. for moving some coins off of CB after making a few more trades.

Ty.

I personally like D'CENT biometric wallet. I've used Trezor before, switched to Ledger Nano S for more security, then finally settled on D'CENT biometric wallet.
I am no advocate of certain brand and purely based on my personal experience in using various wallets in the market. The latter is more convenient and easier to use by far.

Each brand has its ups and downs, that's for you to decide based on what your needs are.

Re: Ledger Discloses Five Reported Vulnerabilities in Two Models of Trezor Hardware
by

It is quite scary that they were able to create a clone of the exact same components and hardware as a genuine device and even backdoor it and extract the seed.

That is the open source model of TREZOR and why we all love it.

As far as I know TREZORs are not delivered with working firmware now. You have to do an update and you should not trust your new TREZOR if it is pretending to have the newest firmware. Wouldn't that take care of the backdoor?

Good idea but I don't think that would solve the issue even if the hardware was delivered without working firmware inside because attacker can always use a phishing method to redirect download of customized firmware(malware).
It is true that open source has positive impact on development, but at the same it is also an invitation to the bad guys by allowing more attack path to be discovered. Think for a second why (open source) Android has so many hacks (mostly jailbreaking with custom firmware) and non-open source such as iOS has better security.... it is because the source is managed tight, leaving small room for potential attack paths to be discovered.

Re: Why exchange wallet so high fee
by

Hello guys,I tried to withdraw ethereum from poloniex and BTC alpha..soo high fee's I withdraw 0.02 ethereum and  fee's is min.0.01 ethereum? So no choice I withdraw even the high fee almost 50% from may balance. I need gas to send more tokens ..but still confused why so high it is normal or due to blockchain congested that's why?

I think not all transactions are based on blockchain, especially if you are using wallet from exchange where transactions can be based on internal DB.
If you had to send transaction to external address, like your own wallet on phone or to hardware wallet, then that would be based on blockchain.
For exchanges, they raise the fee for transaction or withdrawal to cover their operation and maintenance cost. Simply put, they are greedy.

Wow, cool thing. Want to buy one.

Their wallet website has a pop up to a link where funding is in progress but language is all in Korean.
From google translation, it looks like they will ship the product in early October.
This is a good sign that they are actually manufacturing the product compared to other companies who claim to be working on a product like Giza wallet lol.
Hope someone will write up some review on this product soon.

maybe care before buy this, ledger and trezor are old, and you can use it, it's serious, i don't see any advantage of this new hardware wallet, it's risky. It's my opinion, you can still try to get one but care Smiley

Ah yes, trust is a serious issue and everyone should be careful where they choose to secure their hard earned money(coins).
I've been doing some background research on the maker of this device (IoTrust). They are based in the silicon valley of South Korea and the members are apparently very famous in the country as leading security experts trusted by Telecommunication giants and Financial institutions.
I am also in the IT industry and know by first hand how difficult it is to earn trust especially from Telcos and Financial institutions to do business with them. For me, this is a big confidence gainer in their product, a "security product made by security experts".

Re: NEWS Venezuela plans to create a cryptocurrency Central Bank
by
arcade01game
on 28/08/2018, 12:52:08 UTC
The national Assembly of Venezuela is preparing a reform of the country's Constitution, which provides for the creation of a crypto-currency Central Bank. It will be “the Central Bank" with its functions in exchange, monetary and financial policy, and the Central Bank will be involved.  In Venezuela, from August 20, a new denominated currency will enter into circulation — the Sovereign Bolivar (Bolivar Soberano), tied to the national crypto currency Petro. On Monday, the country's President Nicolas Maduro (Nicolás Maduro) said that the country will begin to operate a new system of wages and prices, also tied to Petro.
Venezuela is in great debt, making the country's economy so badly inflationary. Venezuela establishes cryptocurrency bank will change the current of the country? They need to take better measures instead of releasing their own Crypto.

A country in great debt = central bank in default = central bank backed crypto = no backing?

It's good to see that there's always a new product that tries to compete with the existing one (ledger and trezor). And the HW have interesting features like its fingerprint for security purpose which is a better one. But the only thing is, it has a battery so it will be shut down once lowbat dunno if it's removable or not but its not a big deal tho. And the thing is its not open source.

And one thing is that the site looks not made properly there are some pages that are lacking of contents, like when you want to go to some other pages then you will redirect to order page and with this features lol

In their specifications, the battery is at 600mA, considering how often you would need to keep the device powered on for trading (maybe 10 trades a day?) it probably would last pretty long until depletion. I also noticed there is usb port on the bottom side of the device, so it would support dual interface (USB or Bluetooth) and used for charging.

I don't know about their hardware but looks like they also have their own software wallet application that support multiple cryptocurrencies from a single wallet application, which i think is very convenient. I mean having to manage multiple wallets applications for bitcoin, ethereum, ripple, ... etc. to me were very inconvenient and taking up memory space on my mobile phone which i don't have much of.  Wink

I've used trezor and ledger before and they were difficult to use at beginning. I got used to using them so it's not so much of a problem anymore but one thing that bothers me is that they are bound to PC environment, otherwise, have to use 3rd party applications to sync on mobile.
What do you think?
