Re: Is Bitcoin just for the rich?
by
arhipova
on 20/07/2025, 07:26:22 UTC
Someone said that Bitcoin is for the rich, but that's not completely true. It might feel like Bitcoin is for the rich due to the media focuses on celebrities and billionaires buying and benefiting from Bitcoin. This creates a perception that Bitcoin is a rich person's asset. Even during network congestion, fees can spike making small transactions very expensive. But let's not forget that Bitcoin is neutral, it can empower the rich or help lift the poor, it actually depends on how communities adopt it. So understand that Bitcoin is for everyone, you can buy tiny fractions, not until you afford a whole Bitcoin.

That is not at all true. Even the poor has lot of opportunities to earn crypto and grow. Like a student learning web designing can design websites for international clients and charge them in bitcoins. They are not at all limited by lack of capital and there is no restriction on them that they cannot own any bitcoins.

I was reading a news article saying that bitcoins will not be safe once we have powerful quantum computers. Is there a good alternative way to store bitcoins safely in such a situation  ?

He must have forgot about this and then found out the keys later. He is lucky that he forgot it because otherwise he would have sold it much earlier with very small profits.

Re: Do you introduce bitcoin and crypto to your friends?
by

on 09/07/2025, 14:52:09 UTC
As many people don't aware of bitcoin and other crypto, do you take initiative to explain about bitcoin to others? I am spreading information and knowledge about btc to others, advantages of btc. I have observed some people showing interest or heared about btc some where. Let's spread the btc world to others, cheers.

Telling friends and family about bitcoin has own merits and demerits.

While it is good for crypto and growth of bitcoin thus benefitting all current users, there can be effects like them investing blindly in crypto. So we should be cautious in giving advice to friends and family. We should refer them good sources for getting all the information related to bitcoin and crypto.

Increasing dominance of gold

I was watching a video where they told that now most countries are depositing gold as reserves instead of buying US dollar deposits. Does this mean that price of gold will be uncontrollable in coming years ? Is it going to affect the buying behavior related to gold for common people ?

A small award should be arranged for them.

What award ? Who will arrange it ?

Do not tell me, you will start a funding campaign for it.

Re: Can Bitcoin help a poor country or nation
by
arhipova
on 04/03/2025, 13:11:37 UTC
We need to know that crypto doesn't perform any magic. If the country is poor, the government should help its citizens  upgrade to a certain level where they can help themselves.

It's obvious that the government cannot help everybody in the country, we are the ones to device a means on how to help ourselves from the economic bondage that is looming the society and depriving us from the required freedom we want to have economically and financially, if each everyone of us could take up the challenge, then we are going to see a lot of benefits in which we can get when we embrace with the use of bitcoin and have our total freedom from the influence of government regulations on the way the economy operates.

In many countries, the problem is with the thinking of people. They are just not ready to take risks and thus remain poor entire life. But that does not mean that role of government can be ignored. Just one powerful and honest person on an important role or position can do wonders. You can see it yourself. Every country has some politicians who have worked hard for the people of the country entire life. If majority in government is like this, no one ccan stop a country from progressing.

Though monero performed well as you mentioned, I do see much potential in the coin. This coin does not even gets mentioned much on places like reddit. LTC on the other hand can be good choice. I have seen some transactions personally being requested with LTC transfer.

Re: Will Governments Become the Biggest BTC Whales?
by
arhipova
on 01/03/2025, 11:10:26 UTC
Some governments (like El Salvador and Russia) are moving into bitcoin mining. If more nation-states accumulate BTC, what impact will this have on decentralization and price stability? Could this lead to geopolitical bitcoin wars?

The stances of different governments are different and thus confusing also. Like some countries you mentioned are going into mining while others are banning it. It is like taking a bet on crypto based on possible future. If crypto does become more important with time, these economies could also become more powerful.

When we search some keyword using search feature  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search) and select by username , it displays post in descending order of relevance. There should be option to sort the results based on date also with single click. Would it be complex for you to setup ?

Re: $100K milestone for Bitcoin: 300-Year Pattern Predicts What’s Next
by

This is a pretty interesting explanation of what comes next and where bitcoin is headed in the long term from a business perspective.
He compares bitcoin's growth pattern to the rise if Apple, Amazon, Intel, etc.

$100K Bitcoin: 300-Year Pattern Predicts What’s Next (video)

Bitcoin just hit $100K. It’s the moment everyone’s been waiting for… or fearing.
But what if I told you that this isn’t just another milestone—it’s part of a 300-year pattern that predicts exactly what happens next?

300 year pattern ? Did bitcoin ever existed that time ? Bitcoin has always performed opposite to traditional behaviors so far.

Re: How much of drop in Bitcoin price is enough to convert you to weak hands ?
by
arhipova
on 24/12/2024, 12:56:09 UTC
How much drop in Bitcoin price in 24 hours is enough to convert into weak hands ? We all have some trigger point ? Even if you are a firm believer in crypto, it can be hard to remain invested if there is major correction in price over very short period of time .
what do you mean?

are you asking if i’ll lose belief in bitcoin if it drops a certain price? well i do not think so to be frank if bitcoin’s price drops the first thing i would do is buy more because i have been meaning to do so though if it drops all of a sudden i would try to understand first why and then decide whether to continue buying or is the project dead (very unlikely)

There are very less chances of bitcoin project to get completely dead one day. It is possible in only in some rare cases like some very advanced and better technology coming and replacing bitcoin anytime. It will require some very talented minds to make something like that possible. Realistically speaking, I do not see that happening in my lifetime and thus I will not become weak hand with any drop in bitcoin prices. If it drops by quite good amount, I will see it as a buying opportunity.

Re: How Influential El Salvador Is?
by
arhipova
on 24/12/2024, 12:53:53 UTC
Starting this post with the disclaimer that I do know world events or political news do not completely control where the market will go. However, we can't deny that these news still have some bearing on how the market looks like. I firmly stand by the belief that even without Trump winning and promising all good there is towards bitcoin, bitcoin would still have reached $100k either way. But Trump winning did speed up the process so this is the kind of bearing I am talking about.

El Salvador is one of the countries with most bitcoins and unlike other countries, A lot of the bitcoins they hold are coins they actually bought willingly and not just seized from criminal arrests. They are at the forefront of adopting bitcoin making it their legal tender and their president actively pushing for bitcoin's adoption in their country. We often talk about El Salvador in this forum and we praise all the progress they are making but the truth is they are not as nearly as influential as the USA. Can you imagine the effects if it was the US that made bitcoin as their legal tender? The reactions would be a lot bigger than the reaction of that from El Salvador.

Which got me to think about the possible consequences if El Salvador were to ever announce that it is selling its bitcoins and plans to never buy any more? I am aware that the possibility of that is low since El Salvador has always expressed interest towards bitcoin but just hypothetically, how much would bitcoin be affected if El Salvador does not show support any more?

That will not have a very big effect. However, something like USA banning bitcoins can have huge short term effect. In the long term, crypto will still keep growing. Look at the ban by China which is a major economy in the world. Even after that bitcoin prices have grown at good rates.

Re: Trends like PNUT will eventually die
by
arhipova
on 09/12/2024, 02:43:11 UTC
Now, the memecoin hype is indeed a big concern, because some memecoins like $PNUT $ACT can be listed on Binance and even surprise everyone.

Even if one or two memecoins make it big, it is still a waste of money because:

1) First, if we see the overall proportion, out of thousands of memecoins launched, only 1-2 make it big. It means that others were just scams to fool people and extract as much money from people as possible.

2) Even if we take into account the memecoin like PNUT, their final fate is dropping to zero only because the hype gets over in some days. This means that 100% the memecoins become useless after some time. Why bother investing in these  stupid coins then ?
